Chanyeol meets the family
Love Songs with Baekhyun
“What is the national radio statistics count, Baek?” Chanyeol furrowed his brows as he turned his concentration from the email towards Baekhyun who was on the opposite side of the control panel.
“You didn’t know? I thought Suho would have explained!” Baekhyun gaped. “It is the most crucial three months where surveys are carried out amongst a population of representation households on all the radio stations here, therefore national. The results are similar to Nielsen reports and let us know how we rank as compared to our competitors. It’s granted Sehun and Suho takes these statistics very seriously because it’s an actual reflection of how our station and each show are received amongst the population, but as jocks, we take pride in the results as well.”
“How were the results like for the previous count?”
“Our station has placed first the entirety of last year. The morning show has always been strong contenders and my show is also set to be first in its timeslot this time round.” A proud grin finds its way on Baekhyun’s face as his eyes lit up. “And I’m sure Love Songs is going to place first because you’re with me. Our station will undoubtedly emerge champion again but that doesn’t mean Suho is taking any chances.”
Chanyeol nodded as understanding settled in his head. “So the photos from this photo shoot that Suho has arranged is going to be used for promotions?”
“Exactly!”
And that’s how Chanyeol found himself awake at 8AM on a Saturday morning despite ending last night on an extremely crazy note (who else to blame for the TGIF party after their show?). Beside him, Baekhyun burst into a yawn every so often and nuzzled closer to Chanyeol for comfort, mumbling something about the leather seats in the cab being too hard for his liking. Taking a deep breath, Chanyeol found his fists clenching in anxiety as the vehicle takes them closer to their destination.
Suho had sent everyone an email a week ago about the photo shoot at a secluded warehouse where crazy fans wouldn’t be able to intrude. It was the first official mail Chanyeol had received ever since starting officially as a radio deejay and it had him panicking to see his name in the receiver’s column alongside all the other big names that he’d only heard of over the radio airwaves. In fact, he’s a big fan of the evening show and today he’d be taking official group photos with them. Glancing down at Baekhyun who had finally dozed off against his chest, Chanyeol smiled and placed his arms gently around him. It’s going to be a long day, but he knows he’s going to enjoy it.
“’Sup!” Baekhyun feels his body weighing a ton but doesn’t let that stop him from running around the warehouse greeting all of his colleagues who he rarely gets to meet. “Liyin noona! Jongdae!” Baekhyun’s thunderous voice bounced off the walls of the warehouse as his noisy footsteps approached a pair who was already getting their hair and makeup done.
“You need to stop shouting this early in the morning!” the man whom Baekhyun had addressed as Jongdae held a hand over his chest dramatically. “And it’s Chen in the workplace!”
“Whatever, that just sounds really lame. Don’t you agree Liyin noona?” Baekhyun started blinking excessively at the lady and Chanyeol watched with amusement as Jongdae – or Chen – got up to stand between them.
“Just call him Jongdae, Chanyeol. He thinks it’s cool to have a Chinese name to match with Liyin noona’s and honestly, he doesn’t even look the type to drink coffee so I don’t understand why their show name is Morning Coffee.” pouting, Baekhyun stomped over and took Chanyeol’s outstretched hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, I’m Chanyeol.” The giant bowed respectfully and Liyin immediately stopped him.
“The pleasure’s all mine!” she smiled at them.
“It’s good to see that Baekhyun finally found someone who can tolerate his noise and tantrums.” Jongdae appeared beside her, nodding politely at Chanyeol.
“Yah! You did not just insult me!” Baekhyun yelled and made a move to wipe the smirk off Jongdae’s face when someone towering over him pulled him back.
“C’mon, Baek. Save your energy for Minseok. He’s not going to like it if you look exhausted before his camera.”
Spinning around, Chanyeol came face to face with an expressionless man who stood as tall as he did.
“You always make use of your height advantage!” Baekhyun huffed accusingly and shrugged free. “You too!” he turned to Chanyeol and scowled. The latter’s eyes widened in alarm.
“What’s the point of being tall if I don’t make full use of it?” he chuckled and slapped Chanyeol on the back. “My name is Kris and I’m the stylist here. I think we can hang out since we obviously belong in the bully-shorty-Baekhyun club.”
“So what if you’re a model’s height. I pull off my clothes just as well as you do anyway.” Baekhyun grumbled and crossed his arms. Chanyeol stood pretty much as rigidly as a statue as the entire conversation unfolded before him, in awe of how small the usually confident Baekhyun appeared in contrast to all these people here and how everyone seems to treat him as part of their family already. Is this how it feels to be part of a tightly knit bunch? Because Chanyeol sure loves this moment.
While Baekhyun followed Kris to try on his outfits, Chanyeol took the seats that had been vacated by the morning duo so that he could get his hair and makeup done. Struggling to keep his eyes peeled, he hadn’t even realized when someone had slipped into the seat next to him,
