Daniel and Mi Young ssi were playing outside playing dol chagi nol-i. Their mom and dad were gambling all night and sleeping during the day. The cement was cracked and deeper than a pothole. Daniel went to the supermarket to buy ramen with their piggy bank they hid from their parents, hoping to save enough to run away from their parents. Mi Young ssi fell in a hole.

"Daniel, dowa! dowa jebal!" Mi Young ssi cried.

"Gwaenchanh-a?" Their neighbor said as she pulled her up.

"Yes, and thank you" Mi Young said in relief.

Daniel came bursting through the gate.

"What happened? dachyeoss ni?" Daniel said.

" I am okay. I fell in a hole but- What's your name neighbor? Mi Young said.

"I am Kim Mi Young" Kim Mi Young said.

"No way! Your name is the same as mine." Mi Young ssi said.

" It's a really common name" Kim Mi Young said.

Mi Young ssi went inside to sleep while Daniel made ramen. As Kim Mi Young was leaving, Daniel stopped her to ask:

"Want some ramen? How old are you?"

" Oh no thank you and I am the same as you. I went to school with you but only for a week. I live on an island. I am leaving tomorrow." Kim Mi Young said.

They both had a conversation. Then Kim Mi Young left. Daniel's dad was yelling at Mi Young ssi for falling in a hole.He was drunk. Daniel tried to stop the fighting by defending her and got hit as a result. Daniel forgot to turn off the water. He ran to go shut it off  but his dad stopped and said:

"How did you go by ramen?! WITH WHAT MONEY HUH?" 

"I found a co- couple dollars at school" Daniel said.

"Why didn't you give your mother the money instead? YOU KNOW WE NEEDED THE MONEY" he yelled.

"You guys don't deserve the money! You have been gambling ever since we started school!" Daniel said

Daniel's dad slapped him and threw the bottle of alcohol that was going towards the boiling pot. A fire started. The dad ran out the house leaving the mother unable to move because she was drunk and sleeping. Daniel tried to stop it while calling the cops. The dad grabbed him by the arm leaving his mother and sister in the house.

His dad said:

"It's no use, they are probably dead!" he cried.

They both ran away. Kim Mi Young woke up crying noticing the fire. She went outside where there were cops and fire fighters. She screamed and cried 

" Where is DANIEL! I WANT MY BROTHER I WANT MY BROTHER!" she cried. The cops told her that her mom died and not knowing where her brother and father is.
