You look outside the window, lost in your own thoughts.  The room around you is cold and empty.  You’re wearing a sweatshirt that is way too big and jeans that are too long.  You’re sitting on the window seat leaning against the wall.  You hold the picture tightly to your chest, slightly crushing it.

A gentle white light is shiny down on you.  You lay your head against the wall with a little thud.  The same song is playing in the background.  It’s the same one you’ve been listening to for what seemed like forever.  You thought this was never going to end.  You pull the picture away from your chest and look at it.  You smile as you see the smiling face looking back at you.  Your smile does not compare to his, but you don’t expect it to.
