I want a person to ride with me through the quiet city at 4am without question. I want someone to take pictures with me and take walks on the beach together. We can build sand castles as we watch the sun rise. It doesn't have to be a friend, a family member or a lover. I just want a companion. Someone to share these moments with without getting attached. One day he or she might have to move far away and I wouldn't even bat an eyelash. I want a relationship like that with someone. And I think I might have just found that person.

We met at the coffee shop where I was working part time at to earn some extra money. He ordered a caramel macchiato and sat down at the table by the window. I remembered clearly. I still remember the ragged up school uniform he was wearing, the way his hands never left the small notepad he carried with him and how his eyes seemed like they were focusing a little too much on something. He was alone but didn't look awkward like most of the customers coming by just to grab a coffee and leave. Maybe it was the calm gestures or the way he didn't rush everything like people nowadays. When he left I thought he had forgotten his notepad by accident but when I looked down there was an all too familiar figure scribbled on the white page in black charcoal. It was me.
