Putting the mask on

The Secret Life of Jessica Jung

Jessica quickly got inside the house she shared with her wife. Escaping the restaurant that confined her within the same space with her wife Yoona has been a rather tricky situation for her.

Kyungsoo didn't ram Yoona's car the first time Jessica ordered him! He was scared to face the wrath of Jessica and he didn't want to have any confrontation with Yoona, who will definitely rant on him for ruining her car.

"I can't do that, Agent Jung!" Kyungsoo refuted.

Jessica frowned. "What do you mean you can't do that?"

"Oh, ! There are kids hanging around the block. I got to go first." Jessica heard one tap of the keyboard and all of the sudden she couldn't hear Kyungsoo anymore.

"Damn it!" Jessica cursed under her breath.

She leaned back to her seat, rubbing her forehead in exasperation. She doesn't know whether fate is making her look like a fool. The chances of Yoona seeing her while on a mission is highly possible.

"This doesn't look good." Tiffany mumbled.

Jessica shoot her a glare. "It definitely isn't. And I swear to God I'll kill Kyungsoo if he doesn't get us out right now."

Yuri fumbled with her phone. "I'm calling him but he's not answering. I texted Seohyun and told her to ram that car of your wife. You do permit them to tear it down right?"

"Yes, especially if that will send Yoona out and we can make our move back to the HQ." Jessica replied with a deep sigh.

"Well Seohyun replied and said she's ordered Kyungsoo to do that. But Kyungsoo's negative. Teens are blocking the parking lot because some are having a throw up party. Looks like somebody couldn't take care of his booze."

Jessica was beyond frustrated. So she waited instead because there was nothing she could do about it. By chance Yoona and her friends has decided to sit at the table where Benito was previously seated. It was close to the door and just across the table of the agents.

Any suspicious move and they will get attention from them and if Yoona gets a visual of Jessica, despite hiding behind the cap, wig and thick make-up, she will notice her wife for sure.

Jessica decided to let Yoona spend time with her friends. She answered Yoona's text with a yes and after delivering that message, Sooyoung was very happy.

"Yay! I can spend time with my best buddy!"

Yoona and her group talked about nothing but work at first. From politics to current events even showbiz. They were busy talking about them.

However when Jessica's name was mentioned, she couldn't help but listen.

"I heard it was your anniversary yesterday."  Taeyeon asked.

Yoona swallowed the water she just drank. "Yeah, as a matter of fact."

"Congratulations!" Taeyeon and Sunny sain in unison.

"Geez. You guys don't even know that it's her anniversary yesterday?" Sooyoung shook her head mockingly. "I bought her a gift."

"Which is a total trash." Yoona retorted. "Seriously? toys? I can't even imagine how you can give me that, Soo."

"Oh, come on Yoona! Don't tell me you didn't like it. Admit it. My gift was awesome."

"No, it's not awesome. I don't plan giving that to Jessica. And although I appreciate  your concern about my life, Jessica and I are perfectly content with our lives."

"Well you can alway use that to spice up your life. You'll thank me one of these days."

"I don't think so."

Sooyoung chuckled, loving the way how she was getting into Yoona's nerves. "Okay, jokes aside, now that both of you are in the fourth year, do you have any thoughts about having kids?"

Jessica froze in her seat. She didn't know eavesdropping with her wife's conversation would make her feel nervous. Or maybe the topic Sooyoung just opened is something Jessica is afraid of dealing with.

"Look, I'm not gonna lie." Yoona shifted in her seat, putting her open right palm on the table. "I've thought about that many times. You know I love kids and it's always been my dream to start a family with Jessica."

Jessica closed her eyes, recalling those memories of Yoona playing with random kids and making faces. Right then Jessica knew Yoona loved children.

"What's stopping you then?" Sunny inquired.

Yoona shrugged. "I don't know. I still haven't talked about this issue with Jessica."

"Why not?" Now it was Taeyeon who was curious.

"To be honest, I think she's not yet ready." Yoona answered truthfully. "She's busy with her work and her law firm is prominently rising to success, so is her career. I don't want to hold her back."

"So you're gonna sacrifice the fact you want kids for Jessica's career?" Sooyoung asks in disbelief.

"Of course." Yoona answers without a doubt. "Look, I love Jessica. And whatever important decision I need to take especially if it's about raising a family, I need to get her opinion."

"Has she ever mentioned having kids before?"

"No, not yet. I mean whenever that topic come up she dodge it. She's probably not yet ready and maybe the same thing goes for me. We're both busy with our work after all."

"I see." Sooyoung then fished out something from her pocket. It was her phone. She fumbled with it then showed the screen to her friends. "Well, I am officially announcing that Hyoyeon and I just visited a doctor and we've decided to have a baby!"

The group squealed once they saw a copy of an X-ray result on Sooyoung's phone.

"Oh my god, Hyo's pregnant?" Sunny tried to contain her squeal.

"Yes! And we've agreed that after she gives birth, it will be my turn to undergo the IVF transplant." Sooyoung announced excitedly. She was really happy with the news hence why she wanted all of her friends to be present so she can deliver the news. "Hyoyeon will be coming later. Don't tell her she gained some weight or you'll have her wrath."

Yoona smiled warmly at Sooyoung. "I'm really happy for you, Soo."

"What about you?" Sooyoung asked back. "Just ask Jessica. She might like having a kid as well."

"I will once she's ready." Yoona replied. "Though I can feel the pressure from my parents. They keep on asking me when they'll get a grandchild."

Their table burst into a fit of laughter. They can imagine the Ims asking the same question about grandchildren. Mister and Misis Im are very loud people, a complete opposite of a once introverted Yoona.

"Besides, Jessica's my baby. So I am completely content right now." Yoona added. "Or maybe I am the baby."

"Yeah, you're the baby. She even feeds you every night." Sooyoung teased and once again the table exploded into another round of laughter totally unaware of someone overhearing their conversation, face turning red.

"Jessi. Your ear is red." Tiffany stiffled a giggled.

Jessica grabbed her ears, squeezing them with her fingers. She bit her lips into a thin line to prevent her from squeaking a little. "Shup up, Tiffany."

She threw her so called friends and fellow agents a mean glare and would have not stop had a whizzing and buzzing sound filled her ear.

"Agent Jung." It was Kyungsoo, back from the dead. "I'll ram Yoona-ssi's car in a few moments."

"About time!" Yuri grunted.

They heard a loud bang followed by a crashing sound within their ear monitors.

Jessica held her breath. She only need Yoona and her friends come out and she can finally escape, save her secret identity.

They waited and it didn't take time until a man entered the room, wearing a very anxious expression. They remember him as the man who showed them to this room, the owner. He went to the cubicle where Yoona was.

"Ummm... Excuse me, ma'am."

The group of reporters stopped talking and gave him their full attention. It only made the man all the more nervous.

"Who here owns that black Audi with plate number 348?"

Yoona raised her hand. "That would be me sir. Is there something wrong with the way I parked? I think I was obstructing a van. Is the owner leaving?"

The owner nervously twirled his thumbs. He didn't know how to break the news. It wouldn't be easy.

"Umm... No, ma'am. I don't know how to say it but your car has gotten into some trouble."

"Trouble?" Yoona's eyebrows formed slits. "What do you mean?"

"The van you just mentioned has rammed into your car."

"What?!" Yoona shot up her seat. "Are you kidding me?"

He shook his head. "I think it will be better if you take a look at it."

Yoona looked at her friends, unsure and still flabbergasted. They decided to come with her, following the owner.

"That was close." Jessica sighed in relief. "Now let's go."

"What about your wife's car?" Tiffany asked worriedly.

"Kyungsoo will pay for it." Jessica nonchalantly answered.

"Hey! I'll already be dead with Yoona-ssi's incoming wrath. And now my paycheck will be even cut?" Came a compliant from the other line.

Jessica chuckled. She followed Yuri who was already following their planned exit route. The distraction is enough for Yoona not to notice them come out the main door. They can't come out the back door because the people inside the kitchen will see them and wonder.

They can't leave any traces. That's the first rule. Second rule is just as important: always have a contingency plan. Unfortunately they weren't able to plan any escape route other than going through one door.

They made use of people paying attention to the ruckus outside so they quickly made their way out. They took a short glance over Yoona who looked very distressed at the moment.

"Sorry, babe." Jessica muttered.

They ran across the street where a white Camaro was waiting. They got inside and to their surprise found Seohyun sitting behind the wheels.

"Kyungsoo's negotiating with Yoona-ssi." Seohyun explained. "I hope everything goes well."

"Don't worry about it. Yoona isn't the type who gets angry over such thing." Jessica brushed off.

"But her car is new!" Yuri retorted. "She just bought it, you told us that last time."

"Yeah, Yuri's right. Ordering Kyungsoo to wreck your wife's car is a little..." Tiffany added.

"I know what I did was wrong!" Jessica refuted. "I perfectly know that but I didn't want to risk Yoona seeing me. I am not yet ready to tell her... And maybe I can never tell her."

Silence filled the car. The three just looked at Jessica who was breathing heavily from all the adrenaline. Seohyun glaced at the back seat where Tiffany and Yuri are. They gave her a nod and Seohyun returned the gestured, knowing what she should do.

"Do you want us to take you home? We can accompany you if you want." Seohyun offered at Jessica.

Jessica took a deep breath, nodding as an answer.  "I'd appreciate that guys. I really need some company right now."

Jessica sat quietly at her couch. She pretended to listen to whatever Seohyun was saying but she's far too distracted. She kept on thinking about Yoona's desire to have a family. Jessica had thoughts regarding children before but with her job, she doesn't know whether it's the right time to have one right now.

Yoona was right- both of them are busy with work. Having a baby is a luxury they cannot afford as of this moment.

"Jessica unnie?"

Jessica snapped from her trance, glancing over Seohyun with a forced smile. "Yeah?"

"Are you okay? You seem distracted."

"I'm just...thinking about Yoona. She said she wanted to have a family already." Jessica sighed.

"There is a maternity leave for agents, Unnie." Seohyun explained. "You can always use it."

"I can't Seohyun." Jessica leaned back the couch. "If ever I am ready to have a family, I would have to quit being an agent. I want to be a dedicated mother who can pay attention to her children twenty four-seven."

"Wait. Are you thinking about retiring soon?" Tiffany asked hesitantly. She couldn't picture her good friend quitting this early.

"Yes." Jessica admitted. "But maybe in a few more years. I love this job, Tiff."

Before they could continue with their conversation, however, the front door creaked open and in came Yoona with a tired looking expression.

"Hey guys." Yoona greeted the visitors. "I didn't know you'll come over."

"Jessica invited us over because she wanted some company since you're out." Yuri explained.

"I see. You guys ate already?"

"Yeah, we did. Seohyun treated us."

Yoona nodded and slumped into the seat next to her wife. She hugged Jessica, tireness evident with the long exhale she just did.

"Welcome back, baby." Jessica rubbed her wife's back comfortingly. "How was your dinner? You don't look full. You look..."

"Tired?" The ever honest Seohyun finished for her.

Jessica nodded. She let herself be hugged for a little while for she can feel the tensed muscles of her wife by just rubbing her back.

"Are you okay? Are you drunk?" Jessica pretended to know nothing yet deep down inside she was worried for Yoona. What she did might have affected Yoona negatively.

"I'm fine." Yoona finally pulled away. "I just had to ride Sooyoung's car in order to get home."

"Why would you ride in her car?" Jessica asked though she already knew why. The green monster within her is knocking on her door. She knew about Yoona's past relationship with Sooyoung.

"My car's a wreck." Yoona announced, earning a somewhat collective gasps from the four other women as if it's scripted. "Someone crashed his van into my car."

"Are you okay?" Jessica asked, checking Yoona for any bruises.

"I'm fine. I wasn't in the car when that happened."

"Where's the guy? You should sue him."

Tiffany and Yuri exchanged looks, mentally praying for Kyungsoo's well-being.

"I didn't push through it." Yoona sighed once again. She leaned her head unto Jessica's shoulder, finding comfort at the warm skin. "The kid seemed like a student. He kept on apologizing and he really looked like he was going to cry."

Jessica can imagine just how Kyungsoo looked while apologizing. She felt bad for him but at that moment it was the only way to get out of the restaurant without jeopardizing her identity and the agency.

"Yoona unnie is really kind hearted." Seohyun complimented with a huge beam. "Anyway, I am glad you're fine unnie."

"Thanks, Hyun." Yoona wanted to just close her eyes and lean onto her wife's shoulder but her phone rang and with a groan she picked it up. "Hello? Yoona here."

Jessica watched Yoona get up, picking up the note pad sitting by the table. "Hey Sunhwa. No, I'm not busy. I just got home. Ah, you got some news? Robbery? Sure, send it to my mail and I'll review it."

Han Sunhwa works as a reporter both in radio and television so most of the time she calls Yoona at night because she needs to report it early in the morning. She didn't want to bother Yoona in the wee hours of the morning. She can actually just ask her supervisor to check her report but since she's Yoona's junior back in high school and because she's new to being a reporter, Yoona looked after her.

The moment Yoona ended the call, Tiffany, Yuri and Seohyun were now standing in front of her. Jessica wrapped her arms around Yoona's.

"Honey. They said they are leaving already." said Jessica.

"Is that so? I'm sorry we weren't able to talk more." Yoona scratched the back of her neck bashfully. "Next time how about we all go out for dinner? My treat."

Yuri quickly agreed much to Jessica's chagrin. Yuri even shook Yoona's hand as if to seal the deal. Yoona had a better thing in mind though.

"How about we go out for a triple date some time?" Yoona chuckled. "Seohyun, why don't you bring your partner and we can all go out?"

"I'm afraid I can't Yoona unnie. Aside from the fact I'm single, I'm also busy with work." Seohyun politely declined.

"Awww... That's too bad." Yoona frowned.

"Seohyun's in a relationship with work." Tiffany joked lightheartedly. "You need to find someone soon, Hyunnie."

"Yeah, Tiffany's right." Jessica added with a giggle.

"Unnies!" Seohyun's face was red.

Since Seohyun wasn't available, Yoona decided to invite Sooyoung and Hyoyeon instead. They've agreed to meet this weekend for their triple date. They will watch movie, go shop, and then have dinner. Yuri and Tiffany excitedly left the Yoona and Jessica house, unstoppably voicing their excitement until the moment they boarded the car.

Jessica sat by her dresser, carefully brushing her hair. She looked back to her mission today and the near disclosure of her cover. Thank goodness Kyungsoo followed her intructions. She made a mental note to treat him well. She will also have to thank him because even though he was scared to death, he still followed Jessica's order and eventually saved Jessica.

She was in debt with Kyungsoo, in short.

She heard the bathroom door click open followed by Yoona exiting after washing her face. She flashed a smile at Jessica, stopped beside her to peck her cheek, before she headed to bed.

This day was damn rough for Yoona. Her new car is currently at the shop, the same car she was damn careful not to scratch, all because of a kid who has no driving experience. Truthfully Yoona wanted to burst but she couldn't. She underwent the same thing, though she didn't exactly wreck the car, she almost hit the car against the guardrail.

Yet whenever Yoona think about that almost accident, she can't help but feel no regret. She cannot regret and if you will ask her she would repeat the mistake without second thought.

It was one of her mistakes she would never forget.

It was the night after her fourth date with Jessica. She was about to take her home but a car swerved in front of them and in order to avoid the clash, Yoona stepped hard on the brake, almost colliding up against the ramp that lead to safety rails.

She immediately checked on Jessica to see if she's alright but saw her breathing heavily, probably scared to death. As they continued the ride to Jessica's house, Yoona couldn't help but feel guilty. She's apologized countless of times and Jessica has forgiven her, though she didn't think an apology was necessary specially when it wasn't Yoona's fault.

As Yoona stood in front of Jessica's doorstep, she once again tried apologizing. This made Jessica snap and to prevent Yoona from uttering another word of apology, Jessica grabbed her face and kissed her hard.

It was their first kiss after four dates, sixty seven messages, and twelve calls.

Yoona tucked her body underneath the warm blanket. She checked her phone for any messages before placing it on the bedside table.

"Going to bed without me?" said Jessica in a teasing tone. She got off her dresser, her white night gown cascading down her smooth thighs.

Yoona chuckled, opening her arms where Jessica crawled her way, snuggling close to her.

"Of course, not. But if you had to stay up for ten more minutes I might have dozed off." Yoona retorted.

Jessica nuzzled her nose against the crook of Yoona's neck. Cuddling with each other is a ritual they do without fail every single night. It was something that developed during their honeymoon stage. Nowadays they find sleeping difficult if they aren't sleeping closely. That's why whenever they have fights, it's hard to stay mad because at night, they couldn't sleep a wink.

Sometimes when Yoona sleep at the guest room after a big fight, Jessica will sneak inside and sleep right beside Yoona. The next morning they'll wake up with their limbs around each other. By then the fight is over. They will exchange apologies, make out and then start another wonderful day.

Jessica listened carefully to Yoona's heartbeat, her steady breathing ringing through her ears. These are the things that always lulled her to sleep.

"By the way, what made you think of inviting the girls for a triple date?" Jessica was suddenly reminded.

"Sooyoung brought it up earlier today." responded Yoona. "She's been saying that me, Hyo and Soo haven't been hanging around lately."

"I see."

Yoona sniffed Jessica's head. She loved the shampoo Jessica always used. The watermelon scent always filled her senses and Yoona can think nothing else but Jessica whenever that happens. It's like a spell was casted upon Yoona.

"Is it okay if you drop me off the station tomorrow babe?" inquired Yoona. "I really need a ride. The shop said it'll take over a week before they fix my car."

Jessica nodded against Yoona's frame. "Don't worry babe. I can do that."

"I won't be a bother?"

"Of course not, never." Jessica planted a wet kiss on Yoona's lips. "By the way, I've thought of a late anniversary present."

"Really?" Yoona's eyes twinkled with interest. "What is it? A getaway in an island for three days and two nights where we can have without any care?"

Jessica looked up, giving Yoona a judging glare, before shaking her head. "As much as that idea is perfect, I've thought of something else. We can use that idea for my birthday though. So book a ticket in advance already."

Jessica fully turned her body, lying on her belly, chin propped on Yoona's shoulder blade, and stared into Yoona's eyes with a loving gaze.

"I've decided to buy you a car." Jessica beamed in glee.

Yoona's eyes widened in surprise. "Woah. That's too much, Sica."

"No, it's not. It's for my lovely wife. And I've been thinking what gift to give you because to be very honest you just rocked my world with your presents last night." Jessica admitted without any hint of lie. "And although it's wrong for me to be thankful that your car's a wreck, it's the reason how I came up with this idea."

Yoona reached for Jessica's arm, rubbing it in a soothing manner. "Sica, I appreciate the gesture but I don't think-"

"I heard there is a new Chev in town."

"-it's right to decline this gift, so thank you in advance baby."

Jessica guffawed loudly, her chin tickling Yoona who found her laughter contagious and ended up laughing as well.

"You're welcome. How about we go visit the store tomorrow before we go to work?" Jessica suggested after her laughter has subsided.

"Sure. I like that."

Yoona wrapped her arms around Jessica, ready to drift into dreamland soon.

"I love you, Jess." Yoona mumbled softly in a half-asleep state.

Jessica tightened her hold around Yoona, burrowing herself closer into Yoona's embrace. She doesn't even have the slightest idea how much she loves this woman. All she knows is that this woman is someone she can never let go because a separation with her is amounting to stop breathing. Yoona is connected to her like life, like the air she breath.

"I love you too, Yoona." Jessica closed her eyes and tightened her embrace. "I love you so much."

****

Standing by an arcade, Sooyoung held the toy gun and enjoyed exterminating all the villians appearing in the screen. Her wife Hyoyeon stood by the side, shaking her head disapprovingly.

Turning to her right, Hyoyeon watched other people play, anything to direct her attention off her now cursing wife. Sooyoung was close to losing.

From a distance, Hyoyeon saw a familiar couple. Waving her hand, she smiled and beckoned them over. She wasn't exactly close to Yuri and Tiffany as they never really spent time that much but they are acquianted and so there are no awkward moments during times like this.

"Hello." Hyoyeon greeted the moment they arrived.

"Hi." replied Tiffany. "Sorry we're late. We had to search for a parking slot."

Yuri nodded. "Yeah, it's crowded. It's a Saturday so there a lots of people at the mall."

"It's okay." Hyoyeon directed her head to Sooyoung when she heard her exclaim in joy. She just won her game.

"Take that, baby! I won!" Sooyoung skipped her way over the three. She offered her hand to the newly arrived couple. "Hello. It's been a long time."

"Yes, it is." Yuri recalled. "I'm happy to see you."

"Me, too." Sooyoung looked around, a frown on her face. "Where the hell is Yoona and Jessica anyway?"

"Jessi texted me and said they've arrived. I thought they are here already." Tiffany said. She thought she and Yuri are the last people left, it turns out it was couple who invited them that is tardy.

"Ugh. I'll bet twenty that they've had a quickie before they left the house." Sooyoung rolled her her eyes.

The three chuckled at the impatience of Sooyoung. She always got in trouble with that because she can't do reports that require her to wait for confirmations and such that is why Sooyoung isn't a reporter but a newscaster. She's good at hosting. She has extensive vocabulary and great eloquence. Sometimes Yoona wondered why she prefer to be what she is now when she could have been somewhere better.

Sooyoung loved this job. What started as an audition as host turned something deeper. If you'll ask her, she doesn't regret coming to audition with her friends and now wife Hyoyeon. It was like destiny.

"No, we didn't." came a reply.

The four of them turned to the source of noise and saw Jessica, sending Sooyoung daggers of glares.

"Even if I wanted to, Yoona said we couldn't because we're gonna be late." Jessica continued, not taking her menacing glare off Sooyoung. "You lost the bet already. Pay up."

Sooyoung slightly shivered at the ever so scary facade of Jessica. All this time she wondered where the aegyo queen Yoona often told her has came from. Yoona told her stories how sweet Jessica is, how she's good at showing aegyo at Yoona but with all the glares and ice cold front Sooyoung often see Jessica wear, she couldn't fathom whatever Yoona has told her.

"Sorry we're late." Yoona chuckled when she saw Sooyoung slightly cower beside Hyoyeon. "Jessica had a hard time with her wardrobe."

"I had nothing to wear, honey!" Jessica retorted.

"You have a closet full of clothes. What do you mean you had nothing to wear?"

"You don't have any idea about fashion, babe. I love fashion and I have a certain theme I have thought for today and I won't leave the house without satisfying that urge."

Yoona raised her hands in mock surrender. She can never really argue with Jessica when it came to fashion. Yoona isn't exactly new to dressing up but Jessica often advise her to wear this and that. She's her personal coordinator. Like for example when she attended that gala a month ago, Jessica helped her pick what dress to wear, the accessories and the shoes. She often wondered how come Jessica became a lawyer? She could have been a gorgeous, ingenius, fashion designer.

Jessica wore a blue skirt topped with white long sleeves off-shoulders shirt.  She finished the look with white Jimmy Choos. Yoona on the other hand planned to wear the dress she received as a gift from Hyoyeon but Jessica said no and picked her wardrobe instead. They have to have a couple look, Jessica insisted. Jessica picked a white skinny jeans for Yoona paired with blue blouse and blue heels. Yoona couldn't say no with Jessica's insistence to have a couple look. They only do it once in a while anyway and not to mention she kinda miss it.

"Woah. What's with the couple look?" Hyoyeon asked right after noticing the bright blue colors.

"This is the concept I had in mind." Jessica explained, wrapping an arm over Yoona's. "Don't we look great? I personally picked the outfits!"

"Yeah, both of you look great but that's not the point. Why are you late? You're the ones that invited us." Sooyoung blabbered impatiently. "I had to play two rounds, which I both won, while waiting."

"Sorry guys." Yoona flashed a guilty look. "To compensate how about we eat lunch? My treat."

Sooyoung quickly rejoiced. She held Hyoyeon's hand and threw Yoona a grin. "My Yeonnie is hungry already so it's just in time."

"Wait. Why is Yoona paying?" Jessica tried to kill the atmosphere but even her friends Yuri and Tiffany were rejoicing.

"It's okay, hon." Yoona patted her wife's shoulder in hopes of appeasing her. "But before we go for lunch we need to watch the movie. What should we choose?"

"Lucy!" came a unanimous response.

Well, who can resist Scarlett Johanson?

****

"She was freaking awesome."

"She was damn hot!"

"Scarlett Johanson is the epitome of iness."

They just exited the theater and Yuri, Yoona and Sooyoung couldn't stop talking about the movie, or rather the main lead of the movie.

Jessica rolled her eyes. She was close to pulling Yoona's ear but she remembered that they made a deal that it's okay to have crushes once in a while.

"So what should we eat?" said Yoona after her spazzing has died down. "Chinese? French? Japanese?"

"Japanese!" Once again there was a unanimous answer. Yoona will be the one paying so it's better to eat the expensive stuff. Sushi is rather expensive. As the couple made their way to the Japanese Sushi restaurant Sooyoung recommended, they happened to pass by a shop for babies like clothes and toys. Hyoyeon immediately stopped and eyed the displays. Sooyoung wrapped an arm around her shoulder and joined her in looking around the store.

"Is the baby boy or girl?" Yoona asked in pure curiosity.

"How will we know that?" Hyoyeon scratched her head in confusion. "I think a two month fetus isn't large enough to determine the gender."

"Congratulations, Hyo." Jessica added with a smile. Yuri and Tiffany followed and relayed their congratulatory messages to Hyoyeon.

"Thank you, guys. Sooyoung and I are so thankful. We didn't expect this result to come sooner. Thank goodness we succeeded in our first trial." Hyoyeon explained, heart warming at her friends' messages.

Jessica looked over Yoona whose eyes are glistening with happiness, maybe even longing. She once again felt guilty, even though she knew there was nothing to be guilty about. It's just that Jessica felt bad that she cannot give what Yoona probably want at the moment. She just got assigned in a new mission and she has no idea how long it will take to finish though Jessica would prefer to finish it as soon as possible.

"Just call me when you find out the baby's gender so that I can buy an appropriate gift." Yoona beamed brightly.

They proceeded to the said Japanese restaurant and the moment they stepped inside they can already tell why it is expensive- it is an authentic Japanese restaurant with the staff dressed in kimono, the ambience is completely like as though you're in Japan.

"You know Yoong," Sooyoung glance at Yoona furtively. "It's really important for me to have an increase in salary since there would be an addition in the family soon."

Yoona chuckled at the not so subtle implication. "Sooyoung, as much as I would like to give you the raise, it depends on the HR department and your performance evaluation."

Sooyoung sighed in disappointment. "Awww... That's too bad. Anyway... I heard you've been invited at our college to speak in front of the freshmen. How'd it go?"

"That's so two thousand and late." Jessica quirked in a joking manner, earning a bashful grin from Sooyoung.

"It was alright. Professor Heo was still teaching there and he was full of compliments when he was introducing me to the audience. He invited me again and this time I'll be talking to seniors." Yoona recalled, laughing at the memory of her almost bald and boring business math professor showering her with praises.

"What?!" Sooyoung exclaimed. "He was complimenting you?"

Hyoyeon was equally surprised that she had to laugh at the impossible statement. "But he hates us! He often sent us out his class."

Yoona shaked her head. "For the record, he didn't try to send me away intentionally. I just happened to sit between the two of you so whenever you made something that disrupted the class, I was unfortunately dragged into it."

The table erupted into a huge fit of laughter. Jessica can imagine her wife feeling aggravated by being involved in a mess her friends has created which she had nothing to do with.

"By the way I'm just curious," Yuri mused carefully, glancing at Jessica who was giving her a glare, warning her not to say anything weird. "How did Yoona and Sooyoung date?"

Jessica froze on her spot. Come to think of it, she has never really delved deeper into the history between Yoona and Sooyoung's past. Glancing over Yoona, she raised one eyebrow which was an indication to speak the truth.

Yoona swallowed nervously. She really get these jitters once in awhile especially when Jessica's freaking jealous. It's the type of jitter that runs down her spine, pokes her nerves and squeezes her lung.

"I don't even know where it started." Yoona glanced at Sooyoung, slowly recalling the memories. "I mean when I entered college and met Sooyoung there were lots of things that we had in common. We love food, we love computer, we love speaking, we like pranks- to keep it short got along easily."

"And maybe that's the reason." Sooyoung mused. "I mean when we met we instantly clicked. Our tastes matched from movies, hobbies, food, even the things we hate. Maybe that similarity allowed us to be closer easily. Then one day we just randomly thought, 'what if we date?'. We didn't really undergo courtship to be honest. We just wanted to try it because we clicked."

"Yeah. It was just that. We didn't get into the relationship because we we're in love. Then we realized while dating that we were really compatible....as friends." Yoona lifted her fist and Sooyoung quickly reciprocated, doing a fist bump. "Then we decided to just stay friends."

"Yoona was looking for the one." Sooyoung air quoted the word one for emphasis. "Thankfully, Hyoyeon shifted to the IT department, we met, we dated, and now we're married." She beamed at her wife, holding her hand and giving it a tender squeeze.

"So Jessica was the one?" Yuri teased, making her friend blush yet she kept that firm glare on Yuri.

"Of course, she is." Yoona answered sweetly. She glanced at Jessica who kept averting her eyes off Yoona. Yoona smiled and leaned in for a surprise kiss.

"Eeeeep!" Jessica covered her lips once Yoona pulled away, face red and eyes wide.

The group chuckled at Jessica's shy appearance. She's normally this cool, composed lady but at times like this, whenever she's with Yoona, she looks like a high school girl with her life long crush.

"But really to be honest I didn't think Jessica was your type, Yoong." Sooyoung commented, breaking Jessica's bashful look, earning a glare once again.

Yoona shrugged. "I don't know. When I saw her I just know that I had to know her name. It's like if I let go of that chance I would have regret it forever."

Jessica felt her face heat up, feeling her body go wanton over a heartfelt comment from her wife.

"That's why you bought me dinner when you told me my lame pick-up lines actually worked." Sooyoung rolled her eyes at the exact same words Yoona has told her before. "It's thanks to me and my lame pick-up lines you found your one and only."

Tiffany clapped her hands, remembering a memory. "I was weirded out with Yoona at first. She was staring at our table for a long time. I thought she was hitting on me." Shrugging her shoulders for emphasis, she continued. "Then I realized she was staring at Jessica! Who would have thought a lawyer like Jessica will fall for lame pick-up lines?"

"Hey they weren't lame!" Jessica defended with a huff. "They were very sweet and it quickly broke the ice. The fact she managed to approach me looking like a hooker was very impressive."

"For the record I did not think you were a hooker. I just liked you the moment I laid my eyes on you." Yoona corrected. "You're like a sparkling gem beneath that crowd."

Tiffany couldn't help but coo at the couple's sweetness. "Damn it! If only Yuri was half as sweet as Yoona."

Yuri, who was drinking her water, choked at the sudden reminder. "Hey! I am a very sweet wife to you!" She defended in a whiny tone.

The table erupted into a fit of laughter. The Udon, raw Salmon, tossed salad, stir fried eel, sushi and other Japanese delicacies provided nothing by boosters to the already upped mood of the group. At first no one wanted to go in this group date but it actually turned out to be good. They managed to converse and share stories, something they haven't done in a long while. It was nice gathering together, meeting friends and talking about the past especially for Jessica.

It was very selfish of her to listen to Yoona's past but sadly she cannot do the same for herself. It's not that she has nothing good from her past, it's just that if she divulge her past, she can compromise her cover. Jessica Park has no past. It was all made up. Her job, school records, hometown- the whole life of Jessica Park was made up. However, Jessica Jung had all those history- the schools she went to until high school, her hometown where her true family who believes she died in a car accident along side her parents lives, as well as the hill where her parents are both buried.

What should she share? What can Tiffany and Yuri share about her? Their adventures of catching and killing bad people? The two women has been friends with Jessica ever since they entered the program. Jessica's adoptive parents, both CIA agents, enrolled her to the program and ever since then, instead of going to college Jessica trained for two years. It was actually a short span of training period but she was just good. She excelled in everything she did. She was good with computer, field work, ballistics, bombs and hand-to-hand combat.

With those credentials, it was impossible for Jessica not to be hired as an agent. The moment she entered the organization, things about her were made up and released like her birth certificate, school records, and many others. Whenever Yoona remembers the birthday of Jessica's adoptive parents, they all have to gather together and prevent one from slipping up. How do they do that? Once again they do not talk of the past.

If Yoona asked how well Jessica is in class, they cannot answer that she's a valedictorian in high school or a science and math geek. They answer in a general pattern like she was okay, she was good and eager with studying. They never brought out talks like, 'Hey you remember that neighbor of ours?', because where will they find that memory? Will they make something on the spot? Risk doubtful and contradicting answers and then blow the cover? No. Absolutely not.

Sighing heavily, Jessica watched with a heavy heart as Yoona, Sooyoung and Hyoyeon talked more about their college memories. The heavy heart somewhat eased for Jessica when Yoona held her hand.

Maybe this triple date wasn't a bad idea after all.

****

Stepping out of her white Ford Explorer car, Jessica quickly made her way inside Chun Ang university. She was here to give her wife her flashdrive which happens to contain her presentation for her talk in front of the seniors of the School of Informations system. Yoona was invited as a speaker for all the graduating students, to help them which path to take once they've receive their diploma. Yoona forgot her flashdrive at home. She brought the wrong drive, a bad effect of having more than three flashdrives. So Jessica, currently on her day-off, offered to take it herself instead of Yoona driving back.

Striding along the hallway in her stilletoes and a one piece red tube dress that showed a bit of cleavage, Jessica looked around where the theater is. There is about thirty more minutes left before Yoona's speech and although she has a lot of time, Jessica want to give Yoona a piece of mind as soon as possible so she wanted to give the flashdrive quickly. What if Yoona still need to prepare some other things?

Craning her head to the left, she spots a group of male students. She quickly approached them, hoping to ask for the direction where the theater is.

"Excuse me," Jessica spoke softly. "I am looking for the theater. Do you know where I can find it?"

Instead of an answer, the group, probably jocks, gave her sly grins. There was this one guy who stood out, his teeth protruding as he smiled in a probably malicious manner.

"Whoa. We got a very hot babe right here." The man with a protruding teeth remarked. Standing closely Jessica's face, he flashed her a dazzling wink but it did nothing to Jessica not even getting weak in the knee but she however did feel disgusted. "Good afternoon, baby. You mentioned the theater?"

Jessica cocked an eyebrow but she decided to ignore his advances and just get straight to the point. "Yes, the theater. Do you know where it is? It's an urgent matter."

"How about you promise me a date and we'll take you to the theater ourselves?" He tried to compromise.

Jessica, an expert in bargaining and compromising didn't answer definitely. "How about you take me to the theater first and then I'll give you my answer?"

His toothy grin grew wider but nonetheeless he accepted Jessica's offer. It seemed like he actually believed that Jessica will go on a date with him. Well he'll be disappointed once Jessica break it to him that she has no interest in going with him and that she's already married.

As they made their way to the west wing of the university where the theater is, Jessica didn't fail to notice the entire time the way these boys eyed her, especially her bum and s. She inwardly smirk, somewhat proud that her charm and iness is still a hundred percent effective. Too bad she is way too in love with Yoona to even spare the least of attention to these monkeys.

Once they reached the place, Jessica's path was quickly blocked by the group, the same toothy guy standing in front of her with this vomit worthy dashing smile.

"So?" He whistled. He tried to reach for Jessica's arm but she backed away a little. She would have twisted his arm for attempting an unwarranted touch but Jessica didn't want to make a scene. Yoona's name and Jessica's cover are at stake here. "It's a date? A cup of coffee would be nice."

"I don't drink coffee." She replied. Then she raised her left hand, showing him the sparkling diamond and silver band sitting on her ring finger. "And I don't think my wife would like the idea of me having a cup of coffee with a total stranger."

She thought he'll back away but his toothy grin was still there, undaunted. "My name's Taecyeon. Now I'm not a stranger." He lifted his hand and pressed it against the wall, trapping her in between. "How about a kiss as a simple thank you gift to the man who showed you the way?"

Jessica wasn't one to back down though. "That's cute. But if you don't want to go to jail , I'll advise you not to come another inch."

"Why? Are you afraid you'll be tempted to kiss me? That's all good. I won't tell your wife." He prodded with the same sickening grin.

Flashing him a sweet deadly smile, Jessica grabbed his arm and within a blink of an eye, she has managed to twist it, pinning it firmly against his back. He groaned in pain, tapping his shoulder in silent surrender.

"Okay- god- I'm sorry. I won't ask you again." He pleaded, writhing violently like an earthworm. "Cut it out! I give up, okay? Ouch- hey- please!"

Jessica released her hold, shoving him back to his group. The devil that violently pinned him earlier was gone and replaced by this sweet girl once again. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you."

"Damn it, ." Taecyeon spat. He twirled his assaulted arm around like a windmill, trying to feel his arm once again. "I was merely asking you for a date. You almost broke my arm. I could sue you, you know?"

Jessica crossed her arms, giving a smug grin and cocked brow from his remark. "And I can counter that with self-defense. Plus you think I didn't notice you trying to reach out for my bum earlier while we were walking as well as the fact you tried to kiss me without my consent, I could sue you with acts of lasciviousness, boy."

Gulping and shaking off the pain, Taecyeon tried to catch his breath. The atmosphere was so tense but Jessica's deadly aura overwhelms an entire group of jocks. Damn it! She thought she's gotten rid of her ice princess title? Yoona always told her she's a melting ice but Jessica guessed that maybe it's only when it comes to Yoona. Afterall, if she's indeed a warm ice princess nowadays then she wouldn't have intimidated Yuri most- rather all of the time.

"There you are!" The said group flinched on their spots at the sound of a familiar voice, Professor Heo, the Vice chancellor of the School of Information Systems. "Taecyeon! I've been waiting for you and your group. The talk will start in ten minutes and you are the only ones missing from the seniors."

"Good afternoon, Professor Heo." Jessica greeted the familiar face. "I don't know if you remember me but-"

"Of course, I remember you! You're Yoona's wife!" He answered ecstaticly much to the surprise of the boys. Well aside from the fact they are Yoona's juniors in college, these boys also came from Yoona's former highschool so she know these boys so well. "I can't forget your pretty face and also because I see your picture on Yoona's desk every time I visit her at the station."

Jessica chuckled, aware at the fact the boys were so shocked but she doesn't need to get them into trouble. She has a business to do. "Yes, thank you. Well do you have any idea where Yoona is?" She showed him the flashdrive. "She forgot this. She'll need it for her speech."

"Oh yes, second door, on the right. She's waiting for you." He guided her with his hand. "It was really nice to see you again attorney."

"Same here." Turning her head to the dazed boys, Jessica waved at them teasingly, even giving them a playful wink. "See you around, boys."

They watched Jessica strut down the aisled, turning right at the said door. Professor Heo eyed the dazed boys weirdly.

"Ok Taecyeon! Come inside the theater already! The talk will start soon."

"Professor!" claimed Kikwang, one of the boys. "That chick is a lawyer?!"

"Well yes. Last time I checked she's a lawyer."

"And she's Yoona sunbae's wife?" Taecyeon added in a dreadful manner.

"Yes, she's Yoona's wife." The professor claimed. "You guys didn't do anything stupid to her right? You wouldn't want to make a scene especially when you guys are graduating soon. Remember any bad misconduct or violation of school rules will not allow you to march for graduation. Now get in." He said with finality, opening the door to the theater for them.

"No, we didn't do anything." Taecyeon denied. He earned an unimpressed side eye from the professor but eventually shooed them in.

"Get inside. Yoona's talking in five."

****

"Did someone order a flashdrive?"

Yoona looked up from her printed speech to give Jessica a lovely smile. Standing up, she quickly gave the girl a warm hug.

"Yes, I did." Yoona replied after pulling away. "Thank you, honey. Although I did know what to say, I think my speech would be more effective if these kids have a visual."

Jessica squeezed her shoulder in subtle dismissal of the gratitude. Yoona didn't need to thank her because Jessica is very much willing to do anything for Yoona.

"It's okay, honey. Do you still need anything? Have you eaten your lunch already? Do you want me to get something? What do you want?" Jessica's barrage of questions came.

Yoona chuckled, pecking Jessica's nose. "I'm fine, honey. The university bought me lunch already."

"Okay. Do you want me to leave now?"

Reaching for Jessica's hand, Yoona shook her head. "How about we go on a date after this?"

"Oh! That will be great!"

"Why don't you sit beside Professor Heo as I talk?"

"Sure, honey." Jessica was about to leave but she quickly turned around and ran to Yoona. Wrapping her arms around her wife's neck, Jessica kissed her softly, their lips touching sweetly. "Good luck. Fighting!"

Jessica sat beside Professor Heo, just like what Yoona said. Yoona has been an avid supported of her alma mater. She often gets invited as a speaker or guest of honor during school activities because she's one of their crowned jewels. Not only does she have an exemplary school record, she is also now a respected reporter and was recently promoted as head of the News Department of SBC station at a very young age.

Jessica beamed at Yoona every time she would look at her direction as she talked. Jessica felt very proud of her wife because as she talked, the whole theater was quiet and listening attentively to Yoona. The audience will laugh if Yoona said something funny, coo if she said something romantic, clap when she said something impressive and relatable. Yoona's ability to confidently stand in front of people and camera is one of the reasons Jessica is proud of yet also a source of envy.

Jessica is hiding lots of things that's why more often that not, she felt very unsure about herself. She was also a great student but she didn't study like a regular student. She had to do mathematical equations for bombs, bullet speed, car speed and many other calculations that she needed to be aware of. She didn't just study English, she had to learn twenty other languages. Her PE is a lot more different than others like running twenty laps everyday, ballistics exercise, wall climbing exercises, activities that she will need or encounter as an agent.

"Look at me, guys." Jessica heard Yoona say. "I graduated in IT but I'm working in a broadcasting station. Isn't that a little too far from what I've studied for?"

Jessica smiled as the crowd softly laughed at Yoona's hearty joke.

"The thing is, the courses you take isn't a determination of your capability or occupation in the future. It is a preparation for the future. Since we are from school of information studies we think that all we are good at is related to computers or games." Yoona added further. "No. We can do more than that. I, for example, never dreamed for being a reported yet here I am. The subjects you learned are the bonuses you will keep in your head and resume in the future but what will really be of use in the real world are the little things you think didn't matter."

The projector proceeded to the next slide where a single word is written in big fonts, bold, red and underlined- posted at the center of the screen.

Respect.

"Did anyone of you try greeting a fellow student or a professor whenever you see them or whenever you meet their gaze?  Did anyone of you open a door for anyone? Did anyone of you smile to anyone who passed beside you? Anyone?" Yoona asked, raising her hand to gesture the audience to raise one for an answer. "Of course I believe you guys did those things many times before. But what about doing those every day continuously? You may think it's nothing big but simple display of respect like that every day will earn you lots of respect and loyal colleagues in the future."

Jessica listened attentively, inwardly screaming that the speaker on stage is her one and only wife. She was damn proud and at the same time awed with how brilliantly Yoona went with her speech. She had no cue cards. All she needed was to cue whoever is in-charge of the projector the next slide and she will automatically proceed with the next talk. It's like she memorized the speech by heart.

Minutes went by and normally students will be bored already but when Yoona cracked another joke, laughter filled the room once again. Everyone was still listening.

"So do not be afraid to chose your own path. Remember to pick the path that you like not the path others preferred for you." Yoona slowly descended the stairs, pacing about the front row. "I didn't expect I'll love reporting. Giving accurate information for the people gave me not just a respectable image, but also a sense of contentment. I am happy and I enjoy what I do. I am happy I could help others and provide information they need without bias."

"It's about your choice. If you fall down you have a choice to get back up and do it again until you succeed or give up and try something else. I can confidently say that my job is now is the one for me. I'd like to keep working on this field for a very long time." Yoona smiled at the audience, continuing the last part of her speech. "That's why guys whatever challenge you face don't be afraid to make mistakes. Find something you'll love that way you'll be happy and content."

With small steps, Yoona ended up standing in front of Jessica. She held out her hand, gesturing Jessica to take it. Jessica hesitated but eventually grabbed Yoona's hand. She was pulled up her seat, now standing closely behind Yoona.

"As many of you know I am already married and I am very much happy with it." said Yoona with a cracked smile. "This is Jessica Park, my wife, a lawyer from Dong Hei law firm. I never thought I'd marry early. It wasn't the path I had in mind. But just like what told you guys earlier, I am happy and I enjoy my life because of my job, because of my wife."

She squeezed Jessica's hand, calming the somewhat flustered girl. "We plan. It's in our human nature to plan our future- whether it be your lunch tomorrow, what movie to watch in the cinema, which outfit to wear for your date, stay at home or go out on a weekend- we always make our choices. Yet at the same time even though you already made a plan, if something happens, there can be a change of plans."

Yoona ran her gaze over the crowd watching her with utmost attention. "Like you planned to go on a picnic with your friends or date but then it rained so you decided do to something indoors instead like watching a movie. See? What I want to tell you is that your future is entirely decided by you. It's your choice. If you make a mistake, take responsibility and start over again. Never give up and follow your dream. If it's your dream to be the best software designer then chase it! You wanna be a chef? Go for it! A doctor? Soldier? CEO of your own company? By all means go after it!"

Jessica kept her gaze on her wife, feeling touched with her every word.

"Change is inevitable but those changes make up for a better you. Whatever course you take in college doesn't limit you. You, setting a limit on yourself is your limitation. You have the choice. Make them count." Yoona took a deep breath, glad to finally finish this almost two hour talk. "And this is where I end my speech. Thank you very much for listening."

The room erupted with thunderous applause. Yoona bowed gratefully in response. She was thankful these kids listened to her speech and hopefully they've digested it. "Do you have any questions? I still have a few minutes left. I need to make sure the time and money you provided are worth it." Yoona beamed brightly. She saw a few hands raised and randomly called a female student from the eight row.

The student stood up and in a loud voice stated her question. "What was your dream, sunbaenim?"

Yoona nodded her head, impressed at the question. "Nice one. That was a brilliant question and because of that you have a prize from me. Please claim it from me later." She said, a tone of amusement. "Well to answer that question, I never really had a big dream. All I wanted was to help my parents and since I was good with computers I took this course. When I started my life as a reporter I never had any big goal neither. But when I met Jessica," Yoona once again held Jessica's hand, pulled her at the center aisle where everybody can see.

"I realized she's my dream." Yoona finished, eliciting a few cooes and cheers from the audience. "She's the one for me." Turning her head to the student who asked the question. "I've found the right job and I found the perfect partner. I've achieved my dreams. Now all that is left is dreaming and building a future with her. Did I answer your question?" When Yoona earned a nod, she opened her arms as if ready for a barrage of questions. "Any more questions?"

Jessica looked on with a flushed face and rapidly beating heart. Yoona's confession in front of an audience just added one more to the list of why Jessica is very much in-love with Yoona. However she is also stumped with how the fact marrying her was enough for Yoona, that it was the best thing she could ever want yet Jessica couldn't be true to Yoona. Her feelings are true yet her identity is not.

Maybe it is time to let go of this double life. Maybe it is time to be only someone she wants to be- Yoona's wife.

Maybe it's time for early retirement. Afterall, being a housewife who will welcome Yoona every day after work, take care of their future kids, and not worry getting her cover blown, sounds better than being showered with bullets.

Jessica is a married woman already and it's time to finally sort out her priorities. Yoona is at the top of the list and that means she need to start acting like a true wife.

Jessica bit her lower lip. "I have to make my resignation letter ASAP."
