Cursed Love

Description

A dark lovestory with a twist.

Foreword

Who knew everything would end in such a bizarre and unexpected way? They were supposed to just talk, peacefully and sophisticatedly like two adults. But no, things got out of hands after all.

"He is mine now and there is nothing you can do about it" a black haired girl yelled taking a step closer to her enemy.
"Hmmm" The other one gazed at her lazily. "You can have his body but never his heart" she said proudly, a smirk appearing on her lips. "Hee Jin, give up."
"Never!"
"So stubborn."
"You are to proud Nara. You need to be more humble to become happy."
"Shut the fck up."

That's when it happened. Hee Jin stretched out her arms and shoved Nara with all her might. The latter stumbled backwards, her shins crashing into the low railing and in no time she was falling into the water. The fall wasn't high at all but she couldn't swim and so her body sank deep. Nara didn't even try to struggle and fight for her life. Without him, it was over anyway. She knew she couldn't win the battle so why not be a bit.ch and die on Hee Jin who would have to live guilt eating her heart for the rest of her life.

"Tsk, tsk. A life of a murderer is not an easy life."
Hee Jin's head turned at the voice and she flinched seeing a man stand a few feet away. She scoffed because he was just a bum, dirty and stinky, in his ragged glory. A cigarette was dangling from his lips and strong stench of alcohol hovered around him. Yet he somehow seemed familiar.
"Who will believe someone like you?"
"Police" the man said nonchalantly. "All I need to do is wash up a little." He started stepping over the railing.
"No, wait!" Hee Jin grabbed his arm, wrinkling her nose in disgust. "Let her die."
"I save her and you give me money, then I will keep my mouth shut."
"Tsh, dream on."
"Do you want to know how it is to end up in the jail? That's when your life is over."

Hee Jin's body froze in shock. What if the man turned out to be in the right? She didn't want that so she let go of his arm and watched him jump down. Her plan was to escape once he jumped but suddenly her body froze, her eyes searching for him in the dark waters. Soon enough she saw him come back to surface with Nara in his arms and swim to the shore. Hee Jin still couldn't move and that's why he had enough time to come back. Strange enough he left Nara lie by herself on the shore as if he didn't really care what happens to her next.

"So, the money?"
Hee Jin gaped at the man, who turned out to be younger than she thought. He was drenched but now his face could be seen better when the dirt had been washed off. The scariest thing was that she recognized him.
"Suk Moon? Why you?" Hee Jin took a step back. It's been such a while. Wasn't he supposed to be in Japan?
"He asked me to look after you. Probably knowing something like this would happen" Suk Moon answered lazily. "You want me to tell him what happened or just give me the money?" He raised a brow, a playful smile appearing on his pretty lips.
"Why are you dressed like that?" Hee Jin couldn't help but ask.
"Undercover" he winked. "So, cash or bank transfer?"
"How dare you blackmail me?"
"Because I can and I love easy money."
"You corrupted cop..."
"Should I tell Jung Woo about your plans to kill her?"
"Fine, how much?"
"Let's just say, a lot."
"Bank transfer" Hee Jin said trough clenched teeth. "You will pay for this."
Suk Moon just smiled by himself while watching her walk away.
"Still as fierce" he chuckled and then shifted his gaze elsewhere. "And she could have been mine..."

Three days later.

"So, you say she pushed you over?"
Nara looked at her friend dully. "What I don't get is how the heck am I still alive?"
"Someone saved you but left on the shore by yourself? That's weird... Maybe the waves brought you there?"
"What waves? Have you seen big enough waves in the Han river. Damn, that water tastes like shiet."
"It couldn't be you swam by yourself, could it?"
"No, I remember fighting back. Someone saved me."
"I don't get you, why fight back?"
"Because it would be better to be dead" Nara said bluntly.
"Don't say that" her friend frowned. "You will get over him."
"I don't want to."

But it's not like Jung Woo wanted to get over her either. His father arranged him a loveless marriage but he wasn't going to respect it. If in the end he was forced to go trough it, he wouldn't be faithful to his wife whom he hated dearly.

"Come to the wedding and we will run away" he laughed joyfully, a glass of whiskey in his hand.
"You are crazy" She flashed him a bittersweet smile. "I get the feeling we are doomed."
"It's not like you to be depressed about this." He suddenly became serious. "Why? What happened?"
Leaning her elbows at the bar counter Nara turned around and gazed at the dance floor. "You see, I am getting a very bad feeling. I'm scared."
"Love..." He slid off from his stool and standing next to her wrapped his strong arms around her tiny body. "I will protect you from anything." And he meant every word.
"I love you" She whispered burying her face into his chest. "If I lose you I'll die."
Her words caused him heartache, strong enough his eyes got moist. He hated this too, so much he wanted to die.
"Then let's be happy while we can" he sighed pulling away from the hug and grabbing her hand. "Let's go." He tugged her along and she followed without a question.

What could taste sweeter than a sin? As soon as they stopped into familiar hotel room they both got lost in a passionate and lustful kiss, undressing each other as if they were in a hurry. Those two were made for each other, that's how perfectly they fit it in each other's arms. His kisses were tender and her feverish, his touch was gentle and her rough, his heart was beating fast and her, it stiffened and froze about to stop beating all together. Being together, it was good, perfect, necessary... like heaven and earth.

"I love you too" he whispered panting a kiss on her forehead. Worn out, he fell next to her and his fingers trailed along her skin, suddenly he pulled her closer and hugged tightly against himself. "Never leave me."
"Where would I go?" she asked sarcastically. "Where would I go without you?" And she turned around to kiss his neck and bare chest, him who was everything to her.

On his wedding day Jung Woo stood in his room in front of the mirror, handsome but so very sad. The day of doom, like he had always mentioned with a smile on his lips, yet now there was no trace of that playful smile. Today was the day he'd betray his whole family for love, that thought alone pained him but not being able to spend his life with Nara, that killed him from inside.

"You look handsome."
His eyes met with hers trough the mirror.
"I wish... it was me" Nara sighed, shifting her gaze off of his attractive profile.
"You will be there, right? You will stop it. You must do it" he breathed out as he turned around and faced her. She looked beautiful in her strapless dress.
"Of course." She flashed a nervous smile but looked too sad and reluctant for his liking.
"Nara, I love you" he said sounding desperate. Grabbing her shoulders he pressed her to the wall and kissed roughly but she still enjoyed it. "You are so beautiful today."
His addicting kisses and burning touches boosted her strength and self confidence.
"I want you" she whispered.
"I'm yours." He on her skin leaving behind a love bite, his hands ripping her clothes off. They made love in such a vulgar manner like two animals, on his wedding day, on the day he was supposed to marry another woman.

Of course Nara wasn't invited. People sitting in the church, all despised her. She was a slu.t, a bit.ch, a vulgar, reckless and crafty witch who was out to steal the man that didn't belong to her. And true enough, she was about to do it. Without feeling even a drop of guilt.

Crossing the road her body started to grow tense. Just a few steps, she would open the doors and yell "I object" and then, then they could finally be together. But she was stopped. Pair of arms wrapped around her pulling her back.
"Let go!!" she yelled but was immediately covered. "Jung Woo!"
"Don't even think about it" someone's playful voice whispered in her ear. "Do you want me to take you away or will you go on your own. Trust me, you don't want me to get involved."
It must be someone sent by Hee Jin, something Nara didn't consider even though she should have.
"Let me go, YAH!" she hissed, trying to struggle free but he was too strong.
"So, me taking you away it is" he chuckled coldly. "Prepare for hell."

Jung Woo was the saddest groom ever seen but Hee Jin didn't even notice something like that, blinded by her own happiness. From today on, he would finally be hers. Nara didn't show up but Jung Woo wasn't a guy to doubt her loyalty, he already knew someone would try to stop her.

"I do- not" was his answer when the priest asked if he was willing to take Hee Jin as his wife. Complete silence landed in the church, everyone's eyes were fixed on the couple in the front.
"J-jung Wo-woo" Hee Jin stammered, in shock.
"I despise you, bit.ch" he whispered before walking away. No one stopped him, people were too shocked and surprised to even whisper anything to each other. Only when he opened the doors was it, his father sprang up from his seat and ran after him.

"Nara" Jung Woo's whispered in shock when he saw her being dragged away. "Yah! Let her go of her you bastar.d!" he was about to run after the kidnapper but his arms were grabbed by his father's bodyguards.
"If you walk away from here Kang Nara will die" his father's cold voice reached his ears and Jung Woo knew he wasn't joking.
"Please." He lowered his head in defeat. "Just let me go already."
"As my son you have to do your few duties. I don't expect anything else from you" his father spoke strictly. "This once, I am willing to forgive your foolish actions."
"Damn it" Jung Woo muttered under his breathe. "I'm sorry" A tear rolled down his cheek but he quickly wiped it away. Fine, he will marry Hee Jin but... he will also break her, he will destroy everything. And so Jung Woo followed his father back in the church, he had no other opinions.

Nara woke up in an unfamiliar room with taste of chloroform in . Throwing the comforter off herself she stormed out from the room, into another as small. The man who had dragged her away sat on the medium sized sofa watching TV. And what was he watching? Jung Woo's wedding ceremony. Of course, the only prince of Hwang Jung empire, son of the most powerful man in whole Korea, his wedding was big news. You could say she was unlucky to fall for such a man.

"No" Nara whispered. "No!" She grabbed her head, her eyes filling with tears.
"Oh, you are awake." The guy looked over his shoulder, a playful smirk crossing his face.
"If not you." She glared at him. "You fcker."
"Say that again." He raised a brow as he stood up.
Nara backed, when he was sitting he looked so much smaller.
"If you promise to leave Hee Jin and her husband alone I will let you go."
"And if I don't?"
"By the way, my name is Suk Moon." The guy suddenly smiled, sticking his hand in the pocket of his pants. He took out something and showed it to Nara. "I am a special case investigator, a cop so to say. It would be easy for me to frame you for anything and send to jail. Do we have an agreement here or not?"

Without an answer she stared at him in disbelief, a guy dressed so.. poorly, may she be polite, was someone with such a high position? And he was blackmailing her? Besides, he needed a haircut, as soon as possible.

"How much do you want?" She asked to his surprise.
"Well, aren't you smart?" he smirked. "How much can you pay?"
"Name your price" She spoke proudly and confidently which made her look attractive and powerful. She was just an ordinary woman yet she had the aura of a queen. Suk Moon didn't wonder why Jung Woo loved her so much, not at all.
"Do you have much on you now?" he chuckled freely, his whole character very relaxed and laid back. "But, if asked I will still bother you later and I can't let you go just yet. Not tonight if you know what I mean" His eyes glinted.
"Useless" Nara mumbled under her breathe as she ran her hand trough her hair.
"You should feel honored" Suk Moon said lazily as he lit his cigarette. "This is the first time I decline money. So, are you hungry?"
"Then, let me get drunk" Nara shifted her gaze off of him. Wearing only pair of jeans and a black wife beater, he appeared intimidating in a way. Something about his eyes challenged her but she ignored that strange feeling.
"If you want so, babe."

Nara glared at him but he ignored, grabbing his worn out jacket from the sofa and turning off the TV. There was nothing else in the apartment, just two small rooms and a very cramped kitchen, full of empty noodle packages. This Suk Moon guy seemed weird.

"Tsham." He suddenly spun around and she almost bumped into his chest. "I changed my mind" he flashed a sneaky smile. "How about you pay me and I... let you run away? Then it wouldn't be my fault."
"Okay" Nara took out her wallet and handed it to him.
"Hmmm, more than I expected" Suk Moon joked. "Here" he took out the cash and handed her wallet back. "I don't accept cards. By the way, such a lovely photo you have there" he chuckled by himself and looking at his back, Nara suddenly wanted to ask him millions of questions. Like who was he and what did he really want.
"Very lovely indeed..."
"Who do you work for?" She wanted to know.
"Babe, it's not who but what. I work for money and money only." He winked and she scrunched her face, quickly looking away. Definitely a good for nothing player.

The way Nara ran away from him was such a cliché. She requested to go to the bathroom, climbed out from the window, took a cab and disappeared. Instead of going home she went to the hotel where she always met up with Jung Woo. He was there, sitting on the bed looking stressed and worried. His hair and clothes were a mess.

"Nara, love, you came" a sweet smile appeared on his lips when she walked in. He ran to hug her and twirled her in the air. "Oh love, I thought it's all over."
"But isn't it?" she asked nonchalantly.
"Aren't I here with you?"
"Are you sure it will be all right?" She wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, their heartbeats intertwining.
"No, but as long as we are together, nothing is over."

Jung Woo spent his wedding night with another woman, not his wife. If you ask him, he would never spend any time with his wife. He wasn't planning to ever love her, this marriage was just a facade. It meant nothing to him because his happiness lied with Nara, being able to embrace her, that was his heaven.

"I want her dead!" Hee Jin yelled in anger as she waked back and fourth in her room.
"Wow, wow, wow. Slow down" Suk Moon chuckled. As usual he was dressed in sloppy clothes, ripped jeans, black wife beater and old gray hoodie with a zipper in front, it was broken that's why it was ped.
"Aish" Hee Jin threw over a small round table. "I gave you a lot of money, why aren't you buying new clothes?"
"Don't insult me babe. I'm saving." Suk Jin smirked. "Look, I am a poor cop not some criminal. Your father asked me to look after you but why do I get the feeling I will have to look after the pretty lady?"
"Shut up!" Hee Jin's face turned red from anger "She is not pretty!"
"Whatever you say" his eyes glinted. "I made it so she didn't interrupt your wedding. Now you have that dude all to yourself, give up already."
"As long as she is alive I will never have him" Hee Jin covered her face with the palm of her hand. "I'm getting headache, how annoying."
"Don't even think about anything rash. Taking lives is not something humans should be doing to each other. Let me give you one advice" Suk Moon stood up and grabbed an apple from a basket. "Never do anything that can't be undone, you might regret." He bit onto the apple. "And regretting is not fun."
"Then seduce her" Hee Jin turned to glare at Suk Moon. "Sleep with her."

Suk Moon's eyes saddened, he shifted his gaze off of her and sighed. Truthfully speaking he didn't want to do such things, he would rather seduced Hee Jin, a girl he had loved since his childhood. But why is it that lately, it was becoming so hard to love her? Some unrequited love was driving her insane and making her look pathetic. A girl who had always gotten what she wanted wasn't gong to give up now either. He knew she would take everything by force and it was driving her crazy, it was driving her insane.

Hee Jin, if only she would love him back. But that all, seemed to be just a distant dream that would never come true. So he gave up on love. You see, Suk Moon used to be a rich guy, his family was one of the richest around. But then, they went bankrupt, probably caused by Hee Jin's father who had always been jealous of their wealth. Suk Moon was supposed to marry Hee Jin, it had been decided long ago but when money went all promises faded away and he lost the love of his life. Jung Woo took his place but suddenly, Suk Moon stopped feeling jealous. His heart didn't beat as fast anymore, not for a long while. Love, it was something he had stopped believing into.

Even now, Suk Moon didn't care. He was ready to forget about everything and never hold grudges against Hee Jin's parents. Revenge would make him just miserable and sad. All he wanted was to earn money with whatever methods, he didn't even know why. He just had this obsession with money and kept saving, trying to spend as little as possible.

"Fine" Suk Moon agreed, unwillingly. "I'll do it."
"Wait" Hee Jin grabbed his hand and looked at him with her big beautiful eyes, so innocent. "Don't get fooled by her charms. Not you too."
"I will never get fooled by anyone's charms" Suk Moon smiled at her and ruffled her hair. "Don't worry."

But she couldn't help but worry. Sending him away like this, it pained her. Even though it had been such a long time she had seen Suk Moon the last time, his presence warmed her heart. She cared about him a lot. Maybe it was even love but Hee Jin wasn't going to admit. She was to obsessed with Jung Woo and that was her mistake.

It wasn't hard to catch Nara. All Suk Moon had to do was to wait until she got off work and follow her to a dark alley. It all was almost too easy. He grabbed her and pressed against the wall.
"You" Nara recognized him right away. "Let me go bastar.d! What do you want now?"
"Listen carefully, pretty lady" Suk Moon smirked. "Leave Jung Woo alone, he is not your man."
"And what if I don't?" she asked arrogantly. "Don't get involved into my business!"
"Then you will have to suffer" he said so coldly Nara's body stiffened in fear.
"Like how?"
"This is a warning, I'll keep my eyes on you" Suk Moon let her go. "Meet him once more and I'll steal your happiness."
"What kind of cop are you? Shouldn't you be protecting happiness, not stealing it?"
"Listen" his palm slammed against the wall beside her head and he leaned closer. "I'm trying to do this as easy for you as I can."
"You are despicable." She spat in his face. "Try to separate us, if you do I'll just kill myself."
"You bit,ch." He wiped his face clean. "Don't play with my patience."
"Then put me to jail, kill me, I don't know. Do anything!" she yelled sounding desperate. "You don't know how hard I have been trying to stop this love. I just can't. Without him life isn't worth living."
Suk Moon stared at her in surprise, he knew what she was talking about and he pitied her.
"Don't ask me to leave him, just kill me instead then." Tears appeared in her eyes.

In the spur of the moment Suk Moon grabbed her shoulders, leaned in and kissed her. He didn't know what made him do it but he did anyway. Something unexpected happened when their lips made a contact, it's as if their hearts connected and they both felt chills run across their suddenly feverish bodies. It was such a powerful kiss. Even though Nara wanted to push him away she didn't find any strength to do it. Even though Suk Moon didn't plan it to be gentle and long, he couldn't control himself anymore.

Why was that kiss so bitter? Like poison. But still, so very enjoyable.

"What?" Suk Moon whispered in shock as he pulled away, feeling weak in his knees. Nara just stared at him, with her teary eyes and suddenly she looked so incredibly beautiful. His body reacting on his own he cupped her cheeks leaning in again but this time she pushed him away, he stumbled backwards and fell on his .

Just like that she ran away and he let her go. Just because he couldn't move, he was shocked. His heart throbbed painfully, his breathes becoming irregular, Suk Moon fell on his back his eyes meeting with the darkness of the night sky. He was feeling strange, confused and lost. What was that all about?

Hee Jin was furious. She couldn't get in contact with Suk Moon for whole week. He didn't answer his phone nor open his door as if he had disappeared from earth. He never seduced Nara like he had promised. Something must have happened but Hee Jin didn't have any idea what it could be. She was afraid she had lost him and that's why her anger towards Nara grew bigger. Also, Jung Woo didn't spare her any attention, he never came home either and she knew where he was spending his nights at. In a very unstable state of mind Hee Jin made a decision.

"Sweetheart" Jung Woo chuckled grabbing Nara in his embrace.
"Hmmm" She snuggled against him wrapping her arms around his waist.
"Let's just leave, let's go abroad and hide there. I don't care" Jung Woo her hair, his eyes lingering on the TV screen.
"Where would you like to go?" Nara smiled happily. Lying on the sofa, her head resting on his lap. There was nothing better in this life.
"Anywhere with you is home, anywhere" Jung Woo bent forward and pecked her lips. "I'm sick of living my life like a criminal. This is not right for you either."
"But what about your family?" she frowned. "You'd be unhappy."
"A family that doesn't care about my happiness. What for do I need a family like that? Let's start a new family, just you and me." His hand played gently with her hair.
"I'd love that" Nara closed her eyes and sighed. "If you are okay with it, then let's leave."
"I promise to make you happy. Trust me."

Jung Woo wasn't sure himself how to keep his promise. Would he be okay? A guy who has never tasted the taste of poverty. All his life he had gotten what he wanted, bathing in money he could afford anything. Now, when he was about to throw it all away he wasn't hesitating, he was afraid he wouldn't make it. He was afraid that instead of gaining happiness he'd encounter misery. Sure, for Nara he was ready to do anything but would he be able to give her what she wants? He was willing to try. There was no looking back but as long as they had each other...

As long as they were together everything would be okay.

Right?

Suk Moon sat on the top of a tall brick wall at the dead end of a certain alley, smoking. From there he had a splendid view of the streets and because the near by street lamp was broken, darkness wrapped around him, hiding him from any curious eye. He was waiting, waiting to see what would be Hee Jin's next move. If only had he know that night Nara took a short cut and never passed those streets he was watching. He realized only later, when it was too late.

Annoyed, Suk Moon finally gave up waiting and jumped off the wall. He was about to go home when a strange feeling made him go to a complete different direction. In no time he was running, in no time he was angry and scared for what were his eyes about to see, in no time he arrived to the scene he had feared to be happening.

Huffing he stopped and his heart froze when he heard familiar voice scream for help. Suk Moon covered his mouth in shock when he saw what was going on behind the corner. He was too damn late. His eyes shook from anger as he stared at half Nara lie on the ground, beaten and bleeding. A man was sitting on top of her, two others standing near by, the other zipping his pants while the other ping.
"You bastar.ds!" Suk Moon growled. "You are all dead."
"Who the fck are you?"
"Get going."
"You better not get involved into our business."
"Get off her or I'll kill you!"
"Oi, someone wants to get his a.ss kicked."
"Don't piss me off, di.ckface."

They weren't a match for Suk Moon, a black belt in Judo and Taekwondo, how could he lose to some second rate gangsters. In no time they were lying on the ground their hands cuffed and he called a police car to come pick them up.

Taking off his jacket he fell on his knees next to Nara, who was lying on the ground without any kind of movement. But she was conscious, he heard her crying. What a heart ripping sound it was.
"It's all over" Suk Moon whispered gently. "I'll take you away from here." He dressed her up and wrapped his jacket around her upper body, then he scooped her in his arms like she was a princess. "It's okay now" he comforted her his words and voice having more power than he knew. It was strange how a guy, she thought she hated, could make such an impact on her. Since that strange kiss, Nara had been feeling awfully distracted. Only thinking about him sent her heart flying but why? Luckily, Jung Woo could distract that feeling.
"Jung Woo" she whispered, tears piling in her eyes, and wrapped her arms around Suk Moon's neck.
"You will see him soon" he smiled bittersweetly. Holding her felt so... weird.

"Drink this" Suk Moon offered a pill for Nara but instead of accepting it she just stared at him with empty stare.
"So you won't get pregnant" he said quietly, hating to say those words.
Nara lowered her eyes, in shame and disgust.
"Sorry I came so late. It's all my fault." She heard him say and glanced at him in surprise.
"Just drink it, don't stare at me like that" Suk Moon flashed a flirtatious smile and winked. With dull look on her face, Nara accepted the pill and drank it down with a glass of water.
"Thank you" she whispered. "For helping me."
"No, you should rather yell at me for being an idiot and coming too late" Suk Moon sat on the edge of her hospital bed, smiling his usual smile. "You are too pretty for your own good."
"But, when are you going to leave?"
"You want to get rid of me so soon?" Suk Moon laughed. "I'll leave when he comes here."
"Can you please leave now?"
"No, you will just feel awful." He wanted to her cheek but she leaned away.
"I feel uncomfortable."
"Weird, me too."

They looked at each other in silence. Suddenly Suk Moon spread out his arms and pulled Nara in a hug, surprised by his own actions himself. As soon as her face came in contact with his chest she smelled blood, sweat and faint scent of his deodorant. A smell Jung Woo never had, he always smelled so fresh and nice but this smell... it was nice too despite being disgusting. Nara closed her eyes, tears rolling down her cheeks again and her hands gripped on Suk Moon's shirt. His embrace felt... wonderful and so strong.

"How can I face him like this?"
"He will understand."
"But I can't live with his."
"Such words, you are saying them so carelessly." Suk Moon her hair, leaning his cheek against her head. "Don't die, I'll miss you." Those words came out so automatically, it surprised him too.
"Wha-?"

He heard steps nearing the room and someone grabbed the door knob on the other side. Immediately Suk Moon pushed Nara away from the embrace and covered her with the blanket. When Jung Woo rushed in Suk Moon was already standing leisurely next to her bed.

"What happened?" Jung Woo asked, worry coloring his deep voice. His face stiffened when he saw Nara's bruised body. "Who did this?" he asked trough clenched teeth.
"Don't worry buddy, those men will be punished according to the law" Suk Mon spook lazily, taking out his badge and showing it to Jung Woo.
"Officer, thank you so much! How can I repay you?"
"Give me money" Suk Moon said bluntly.
Nara and Jung Woo stared at him in shock, both flabbergasted by his words.
"But it's also okay if you don't do anything, it was my duty anyway" Suk Moon smiled.

He found Jung Woo adorable, it was self evident why girls fell for him. He was handsome, charismatic, honest and kind. A good person unlike Suk Moon who was just another corrupted cop and a rotten player. But he couldn't help it, the only thing he lived for anymore was money.

"Here" Jung Woo handed him his plump wallet. "You can have it all, I am grateful to you for the rest of my life. If you ever need anything please come to me" He suddenly thought this police officer looked familiar.
"This was more than I expected" Suk Moon accepted the gift with sparkle of greed in his eyes. This surprised Nara, she thought he would decline. The guy just proved to be rotten and all the interest towards him died in her heart. She felt ashamed considering him interesting when she had someone as caring as Jung Woo by her side.

Greed brings unhappiness, this was something Hee Jin was yet to learn. Jung Woo disappeared for a week and then he came home, furious. She had to face painful consequences of her mindless actions but that was so little compared to his pain. Hee Jin got a black eye.

"I have asked you nicely, I have even begged you to leave her alone but you don't seem to understand it the nice way?" Jung Woo asked with shaky voice, shocked himself. He didn't know he was capable of hitting a woman. His fierce eyes glared at crying Hee Jin by his feet, his hands, clenched into fists, shook uncontrollably.
"I really despise people like you. You bit.ch, how far are you planning to go?"
"Until I get you" she hissed at him, covering her throbbing cheek.
"Then you will have to kill me" he said coldly, his voice freezing the air.

And that's what she did.

It's funny when sometimes, you feel like whole world has betrayed you. Hee Jin had to learn how it feels like the hard way. It was her punishment.
"But father" she wailed.
"You brought this upon yourself" he said nonchalantly. "I let you marry him because you wanted to. Now if you can't handle your husband then it's your own problem. If he doesn't care about you find some other entertainment. Leave, I am busy."

But mothers, without doing anything they are not capable of watching how their children suffer. Hee Jin's mother wasn't just some silly housewife. She knew right people and had connections.
"Don't worry, I will get rid of that slu.t in no time." She smiled evilly while her daughters hair, Hee Jin was weeping loudly on her lap. "Don't cry my little angel, your mother will help you."

Sitting behind his desk, Suk Moon stared at the ceiling deep in his thoughts. He wondered how Nara was doing lately. It had been weeks since he had seen her the last time. She looked happy going on a date with Jung Woo. Together they looked like they were made for each other, a love anyone would be envious of and a love he was willing to protect. Keeping his eyes on Hee Jin he wouldn't leave her alone, providing her enough entertainment.

"Oppa" Hee Jin hiccuped, drunk beyond words.
"Do you want to go home now?" Suk Moon asked lazily. He was leaning his elbow on the table his chin resting on his palm and his sharp eyes never leaving her face.
"Should I give up on him?"
"I think you should."
"Then who will love me? I am crazy, I'm just a psychotic bit.ch" she sighed. "I know I'm being unreasonable, I know I ruined their happiness but... I fell in love. How is my love wrong? I can't give up anymore."
Suk Moon sighed, going trough a discussion like this while being sober was impossible so he finally grabbed a bottle. "It just is" he whispered. "Sometimes it just doesn't work."
"Will you love me?"
"Sure, why not, babe."
"No, for real."
"Just let them be, I'll take care of you."
"No, I don't want a guy like you" she pouted her lips. "You are poor, tacky, a player and twisted. All you care about is money."
Suk Moon laughed, yes that's what he was, he didn't even deny because she spoke the truth.
"It's because my money was taken away from me."
"I loved you too" Hee Jin said quietly, her cheeks flustering. "But, you changed."
Suk Moon's face fell. "You did?"
"I gave up. Seeing you with different woman every day, it was too painful."
"How come you gave up on me so easily?" he pretended to be hurt.
"It's because you are not worth fighting over. What are you? What have you ever achieved in your life?" Hee Jin smiled cruelly. "You can't offer me anything."
"Tsh" Some time ago Suk Moon's heart would have shattered into pieces but not now. Not when he finally understood Hee Jin must be soulless. If soul doesn't exist then she was just selfish to the point it disgusted him. "What do you want from love? Aren't you asking too much?"
"I want everything" Hee Jin grinned. "Love, status, money, you name it. Well, for a girl like me it's never impossible."
"Really? What about your husband."
"You just wait" A mysterious smile appeared on Hee Jin's lips. "He will soon be mine."
"What are you planning?" Suk Moon's eyes squinted. So there was a reason behind her good mood lately.
"Nothing too bad."
"Tell me" he insisted.
"It's not even worth mentioning. I'll make Nara leave in a very gentle way. Huk" Hee Jin suddenly covered .
"Need to throw up?" Suk Moon chuckled and she nodded. "Get up, I'll take you home."
"No" she mumbled while stumbling up. "Take me somewhere else."
Suk Moon's eyes glinted. "Very well, but aren't you scared to spend a night with me?"
"Show me what you have got" she laughed.
"You will regret this."

Indeed, what Suk Moon was planning was Hee Jin's doom and she was so easy to fool, so naive, so gullible. Her body stiffened when he wrapped his strong arms around her in a dark hotel room and when he kissed her she melted in his arms. What a stupid girl she was.

"I'll show you what you could have gotten" he whispered, biting playfully onto her earlobe and trailing wet kisses down her neck. No man has ever been so gentle to Hee Jin as Suk Moon was. Easily, he fooled her, by whispering empty 'I love you' all over again while kissing her lustfully and turning her on in every single possible way he knew. They didn't have , no, they made love. It was easy for him to fool her, he was an infamous player after all.

Next morning when Hee Jin woke up she saw Suk Moon's sleeping face. He was smiling in his sleep and she sighed in adoration. She didn't notice this before but he was beautiful, his eyelashes were long, his lips thin and his nose cute. His body was fit and strong, his hair needed to be cut though but being so wild, it gave him a special kind of charm.

She caressed his cheek and he stirred in his sleep, scooping her closer to his chest. She snuggled against him, feeling happy. It's been such a long time she felt... just happy.
"That was... beautiful" she whispered.
"You think so?" Suk Moon chuckled softly. "Babe, you are so pretty in the morning" he said with sugary voice as he leaned in and covered her lips with his. She kissed him back eagerly, with so much passion her heart felt hot. He smiled against her lips as he slid his fingers between hers.

He has never before felt so good hearing a girl moan, he has never before felt so satisfied with himself when he saw her enjoy whatever he did to her. His plan was a success and Hee Jin's heart, it was about to be broken. He couldn't wait to see her desperate tears.

Since that day, Hee Jin stuck to Suk Moon like glue. He acted rather indifferent towards her but was satisfied to see some changes. She wasn't as angry, frustrated and selfish anymore. She smiled and laughed more, she was starting to enjoy her life again, just like when they were younger. But he didn't let this affect himself. As soon as Jung Woo and Nara left the country he'd dump her. But what was taking those two so long?

Some relationships in this life are doomed. Love doesn't always end happily no matter how much you pray. That day was the day Jung Woo and Nara planned to leave the country. Early in the morning they arrived to the airport with fake passports and small luggage. Giving Nara a quick kiss Jung Woo said he'd go to the bathroom, promising to come back quickly. For some reason she got a bad feeling but what could happen at an airport? So she stayed to watch over the luggage while reading a book.

Suk Moon got such a bad feeling when he woke up that morning. It was so strong he couldn't ignore it and quickly dressed up in his usual clothes, ending up looking like a useless gangster rather than a special case inspector. In green sweatpants, wife beater and worn out flip flops he made his way out from his apartment complex building, a cigarette dangling from his lips. An ahjumma caught him smoking and started nagging as usual. He just ignored her which caused her to turn red from anger and soon whole hallway shook from her angry yelling. This was nothing new, luckily a student who was about to oversleep finally woke up. At least something good happened. Rubbing his ear, Suk Moon just continued his way.

Sitting in his old, outdated and rusty Audi, that was about to break into pieces already, he made his way towards Nara's workplace. There, he was told she had taken a leave and immediately Suk Moon understood. She had left. His phone rang and he picked up without checking the caller. Hee Jin asked if he wanted to have lunch together and his chest finally felt light, he didn't have to pretend anymore.

"No, go fck yourself. I don't give a damn about a bit.ch like you" he said bitterly. "I was just having fun even though, I wouldn't call it fun..."
"Oppa, what are you saying?" her voice was shaky.
"Leave me alone."
"But, but, but I love you" she whispered, already crying.
"Well, that's a pity because the only thing I love in this world is money."
"You can't be this kind of person. Let's meet!"
"No, I don't want to see you anymore. I'm sick of your disgusting, selfish and cruel personality. And you call yourself a woman" he chuckled evilly. "Goodbye, monster."

Okay, Suk Moon admitted he took it too far. He believed her when she said she had fallen for him, who wouldn't fall for his charms? But it was about the damn time realty slapped her face, she needed to learn a lesson. If not him teaching it to her then she wouldn't have ever learned anything. Life can be harsh if you make things too difficult for yourself.

His phone rang again.
"Yah, I told you-" he started to say but got cut off.
"Where are you? Get your puny a.ss to the Incheon airport"
Suk Moon flinched hearing his chief's voice. "What? Why?"
"It's a murder case."
"Mur- Wait, what?"
"Go there, I sent others already."
"Yes" Suk Moon dropped his cellphone and ran to his car.
No, please don't let it be what he was thinking about.

Jung Woo was taking too long in the bathroom and Nara started to feel restless. So she put her book down and leaving their luggage behind she made her way to the bathrooms. Suddenly a hand grabbed her and someone very strong started pulling her away. She bit the palm that was covering her lips and managed to scream for help a few times but no one came to her rescue, everything happened in a very quiet part of the airport.

Nara was tossed onto the floor in a dark room and a knife was pressed to .
"What's your last wish?"
"Please let me go."
An evil laughter escaped from her kidnapper's lips. "Say goodbye to this world."
"Not so fast" Jung Woo's voice hollered in the room and in no time the kidnapper was kicked in the back of his head. Losing his consciousness he slumped on the floor and the knife fell from his hand.
"Quickly" Jung Woo helped Nara on her feet. "Let's go."
"I'm scared" She grabbed tightly onto his hand.
"Don't worry love, I'll protect you" he smiled as he lead her out from the room. But suddenly four bulky men covered their path.
"Not so fast."
"Who the he.ll sent you?" Jung Woo asked, pushing Nara behind his back. She grabbed tightly onto his shirt, tears threatening to spill out.
"That's not important right now."
"I need to know who to go after, after I finish you all" A confident smirk appeared on Jung Woo's lips. "Was it Choi family?"
"Hmph, you shouldn't have pissed madam off."
"I thought you looked familiar" Jung Woo chuckled coldly. "So, Hee Jin's mother..."
"Step aside, we won't hurt you if you hand her to us."
"In your dreams." The look in Jung Woo's eyes sharpened. "Nara, run away."
"No!"
"Hand her over."
"Never."
"No, I will go with them."
"Shut the fck up!" Jung Woo yelled angrily and spun around. "Run and get some help" he whispered for only her to hear. "I can fight back for a while, run as soon as I attack them."
"But you-"
"That's the only way. Promise me to run."
Nara nodded.
"Good girl" Jung Woo planted a kiss on her forehead. "I love you."
"I love you too" she whispered. "Please, just don't get hurt."
"Your love will protect me" Jung Woo chuckled foolishly.

But what love can protect anyone from deadly weapons? Even though Jung Woo wasn't a weakling and knew how to fight... unarmed, how could anyone be a match to four big men.

Suk Moon ran in trough the front doors just in time to see Jung Woo being carried on a stretcher. He stopped the nurses, his eyes filling with worry and sadness.
"He is..." he whispered.
Jung Woo's eyes slightly opened. "Oh it's you" he smiled faintly.
Suk Moon's eyes flicked at the nurses, he was feeling hopeful but their grim expressions told him it all.
"Take care of her" Jung Woo whispered. "You can..."
"No, don't give up yet" Suk Moon said with wavering voice. "What are you waiting for? Take him away, save his life."
"No" Jung Woo grabbed Suk Moon's wrist. "It was you who took her away on my wedding day but..." he cocked on his own blood.
"Aish, just go to the hospital!"
"But you never hurt her, I trust you."
"Damn it, let go" Suk Moon finally managed to tear Jung Woo's fingers off his wrist.
"Now, I am not afraid of dying at all" Jung Woo chuckled. "You are such a good guy."
"No I'm not" Suk Moon mumbled, his cheeks flustering. No one had ever said such beautiful words to him. "If he dies, I won't forgive you" he glared at the nurses.
"All along, you have been keeping an eye on her."
"You... how did you...?"
"Thank you and goodbye."
"No. Hang on."
"We weren't meant to be anyway, me and Nara... my love..." Jung Woo's eyes started to close. "Make her happy."
"My God" Suk Moon rubbed his forehead, tears forming in the corners of his eyes. "Don't dare to die on me now."

But Jung Woo was gone already.

Somehow Nara knew it, there was no hope. When she came back with guards Jung Woo was already lying on the ground a knife sticking out from his chest. His attackers started running away and the guards dashed after them, both cursing and yelling loudly. Ignoring the commotion Nara fell on her knees beside Jung Woo.

"You came back" he smiled sweetly. "My love, you are so incredibly precious."
"Hang on, I called the ambulance" she tried to sound strong.
"Promise not to cry."
"No, you promise not to die" she chocked on her tears.
"Even without me, you can be happy" he whispered.
Nara gently placed his head on her lap. "Without you I'm nothing."
"I'll become a star and will always watch over you."
"Stop being stupid." She wiped blood off of his face. "You are breaking my heart."
"I love you" he smiled like he was the happiest man alive, despite all the pain. In fact he didn't feel it anymore, all his pain was fading away. She slowly leaned in and kissed his already cooling lips.
"Jung Woo, you are my everything" Nara whispered in despair.

"My love, you will have to come up with a new dream."

The ambulance came and the nurses carried Jung Woo away. As crazy as it sounded Nara didn't have enough strength to stand up and follow them, he forbid her to do so and she couldn't but obey. She couldn't even cry, everything what just happened was too unbelievable, everything went on so fast. There was nothing to live for anymore, Jung Woo was fading away.

And just when Nara thought there was no one in her life anymore and felt like she was left all alone and stripped of all her happiness, someone stopped in in front of her.
"Get up" A hand was stretched out for her to grab. "Get up now."
She slowly raised up her face and saw Suk Moon in front of herself. For some reason seeing his face made her feel relieved but also cry.
"Get a hold of yourself" He helped her on her feet. "Later, you can cry later" he whispered. "For now just endure it and do as I say." Grabbing her hand he started leading her away.
"Where? Where are you taking me to?" she asked in hoarse voice.
"Away, weren't you planning to go to France."
"No, I don't want to go to France anymore" she whispered.
"Fine, then we will go to Japan."
"Japan?"
"That's where I grew up" Suk Moon whispered. "Let's go meet my grandma."

Grabbing Nara's luggage Suk Moon tugged her along but her eyes rested on Jung Woo's bag.
"We-"
"Leave it" Suk Moon said sternly.
"How can I just leave it?" Nara shrieked. Jung Woo's bag was the only thing that reminded her of him, she couldn't leave it behind.
"Stop being so stubborn" Suk Moon pulled her to his chest. "You are making it harder for yourself" he breathed out, feeling every ounce of her pain too. He couldn't explain how it happened, but he felt how his heart was crumbling too.
"Just, let me go and die" she cried.
"No, I am going to take you and let you live" Suk Moon said decisively as he started dragging her along.
"Let me go! Now!" Nara yelled stubbornly.
"Geez" Suk Moon suddenly stopped and turned to glare at her. "I am just trying to help. Here" he handed her something. Nara blinked when she saw Jung Woo's wallet in her hand. The money was gone but everything else was there, even their photo. Gripping on the wallet, she shut and followed Suk Moon obediently. Since the first time she had met him, she knew she could trust him for sure. She just knew it.

Jung Woo's luggage stood there alone.

So alone.

So lonely.

Completely forgotten.

And he would never come back to get it.

He was gone.

Forever.

4 months later.

Nara jumped in the lake with her clothes on, her eyes still open she stared at the magical world around herself. Soon holding her breathe in became difficult and she started feeling familiar suffocating feeling. It was time to go back to the surface. But before she could start moving her arms and legs another loud splash was heard just beside her, strong pair of arms wrapped around her taking her speedily to the surface. Nara gasped hungrily for fresh air.

"You bit.ch" Suk Moon groaned. "How many times are you going to do this? I am sick of saving your life."
"I'm just swimming" she said innocently.
"Don't lie, I know what you are thinking about" Suk Moon mumbled while taking he to the shore.
"No, for real. I have been learning how to swim. I just wanted to test my skills" she whined.
"Don't ever swim" Suk Moon sighed as he sat beside her on the sand. "And especially not with your clothes on, it's see trough" he smirked.
"Don't look" Nara's cheeks flustered and she hugged herself covering her chest.
Suk Moon sighed.
"I have been thinking" Nara hugged her knees closer to her chest.
"About what?" Suk Moon turned to look at her.
"Maybe we met in our previous lives."
"What the he.ll?" Suk Moon chuckled in amusement. "Who believes in that cra.p"
"Nara frowned. "You are not sweet at all." The opposite of Jung Woo.
"I don't like sweet things."
"But the more time I spend with you the more familiar you seem."
"The more time I spend with you the more convinced I am you are crazy" Suk Moon laughed.

Indeed, the first months had been hard with her constantly trying to kill herself by drowning. Luckily Suk Moon was always there to save her and she even found out it was him who had saved her when Hee Jin had pushed her off the bridge. Nara slapped him because he had left her lying on the shore all alone and unconscious. His explanation was something like "At least I saved you. What am I? A saint?"

Then Nara had calmed down, slowly accepting the fact Jung Woo was gone. She finally understood it was no use to mope around, if he saw her like that he'd be disappointed. And besides, Suk Moon had put a lot of effort in taking care of her. His grandma helped them a bit but Suk Moon wasn't a guy to live off an old woman even if that woman was super rich. He never asked for money but as sneaky as he was he also never declined if it was offered to him. Overall, his grandma was very kind and happy that he came back.

Nara didn't always understand why instead of spacious mansion she had to share a cramped apartment with Suk Moon who refused to live with his grandma. Then why, not rent a bit bigger apartment at least? "Yah! do you know how expensive that is?" He was stingy beyond words and she was stuck with him because Japanese was hard to learn.

But somehow she felt at ease falling asleep just next to him, on a separate tatami but so close it would be easy to reach for him if only she wanted. That's how small the apartment was. Day by day, falling asleep staring at his back and waking up and seeing his calm sleeping face, it made her feel better, safer and touched by how much he actually cared.

"That kiss" Nara suddenly spoke.
"What kiss?"
"When you kissed me on the alley, it's been such a long time yet I still remember it so vividly."
"What about it" Suk Moon turned his head and looked at her.
Nara scrunched her nose, he was smoking again.
"There was something strange about it."
"Like what?"
"I know you felt it too."
"Okay, I admit it was strange."
Her eyes filled with amusement. "I know what it was."
"Well, do enlighten me."
"Have you ever been in love?"
"Hmmm, maybe."
"If you are not sure then you haven't."
"I do love myself." Suk Moon laughed.
"I mean, love between two people" Nara frowned.
"What about love?"
By the way he looked at her, she knew. He was so in love.
"Why don't you kiss me?" Nara smirked.
"A kiss?" Suk Moon's brows arched. "Why would I? I don't kiss pathetic women."
She looked at him dully. "Since when have you refused to kiss women?"
"Yeah, I never refuse women but your kind of aliens..." he joked.
"Forget about it then" Nara rolled her eyes, a little annoyed by how lightly he was taking it all.
"I'm just kidding, look here" Suk Moon dumped his cigarette.
"Keep your disgusting breathe to yourself. I bet your kiss tastes bitter" she said cheekily.
"Like I said, nothing about me is sweet but you are still going to love it."

He quickly leaned in and kissed her. It was something he had been yearning to do since... forever. And true enough, their kiss was loaded, making them both breathless. It was pure love.

"And you said you are going to steal my happiness..."
"Well, that was a lie."
