Description
The chaotic wartime sets chan-yeol determined to become a General in the Korean military forces.
He meets with a tiny mishap (wufan’s doing) in his selections. General Wufan will not let that memory pass, and ‘torments’ the poor teen even after he had become a cadet-in-training. But the wise General has his reasons, and caught in a dilemma – for chan-yeol to be the next greatest official, or divert him away from the military’s path? Before he gets an answer, he was called back to his post for war and the fooling around in the Academy seemed to have ceased existence. Will General Wufan fulfill Chan-yeol’s wish and safely return, or will he break the promise forever?

Foreword
Constant rumbling in the air made the Koreans of the 1950s duck their head low, fearful of the unanticipated bombings. The country was in the shadows of flying aircrafts. The people lived in fear and were almost used to death. A young boy, barely reaching his fifteen years of age stood in a never-ending line for the selections. They were all around his age, those in line. They were thin and scrawny and almost paper-like, and people thought what use would they be of to the country? When they got to the frontline, they would be training targets for the enemy. But they were in the desperate times, if they got in, they get food. Mothers had to send their boys to the selections, with faces stained with lines of dried tears and repainted with new ones. The boys hid in their mothers’ embrace while they can, time and again peering up at the clouded, ominous skies. They were scared, their mothers were scared, the country was scared. But no one could do anything to pull the young boys into safety. The country could hardly save itself.
