What a Life

Cho Hee’s POV
Introduction
We are living in a world full of criticism, where people only accept you by your looks. When they see you different from them, you’re not and will never be a part of their world. By the way, I’m Park Cho Hee. As you all know, Cho Hee means ‘Beautiful and Joy’. If you think my name implies with my looks, well it’s a big damn no. I’m completely opposite. Let me describe my physical features to you, readers. My skin is dark. Wonder how dark? Think of SNSD Yuri’s skin color, and then multiply it by five. Yes, that’s how dark I am. But it’s really not my true skin color. As I’ve seen in my baby photo album, my skin was creamy white. I just don’t know how it became like this. My hair looks like a bird’s nest since I don’t even have time to comb my hair. Dark circles were around my eyes, I always lack in sleep because I’m taking care of my 2 step siblings. Yes, they’re the two kids of my step father. My mother never told me a single word about my real father. Though my step father is kind to me, I’m still longing for my real father. We’re living in a small house. My mother runs a small ddukbokki stall and my step father works as a school janitor. I’m currently studying at the place where my step father is working at, in Seoul National University, which is a very prestigious school. Most of the students there are wealthy. Channel bags, Victoria Secret perfumes, Mercedes Benz cars were just a few of the things students are bragging about at school. While me, I just come to study and help my family. Being a scholar student, I need to focus more on class. But how will I focus when they keep on bullying me because of my looks? Simple, I just get along with them. How? I laugh with them.
I finished writing the first page of my newly bought diary. This diary will be my best friend since I don’t have one. Who the hell will befriend a freak right? If they would befriend me, I’m sure they’re just doing it on purpose. I would really take care of this diary since I’ve saved my one month allowance just to buy this.
I kept my diary under my bed. I took a peek at the window. Pink, orange, and red sheets covered the sky, indicating that it’s almost dawn. I went to the kitchen to prepare for dinner. After a few minutes, I finished cooking. Just in time when I heard a knock at the door. I opened it and beamed a wide smile.
“Annyeong eomma, annyeong uncle!” I cheerfully greeted.
I call my step father ‘uncle’ since I’m not comfortable calling him appa. He responded by showing me a warm smile while eomma, she just hissed at me and gave me an irritating look.
That’s how eomma treat me, like a trash. But I don’t even care, I just flashed her a smile.
“Do you think your looks changes when you smile?” Eomma glared at me.
I responded nothing. I don’t wanna argue with her since I know that she’s tired from work. Uncle just gave me an apologetic look for eomma’s behavior.
“Where are the twins? Are they asleep already?” Uncle asked me.
“The twins got tired from sc
