The irritating beeping noise the alarm clock made Minseok wake up groggily, wanting to go back to sleep the minute he opened his eyes. It was 7 in the morning when Minseok decided he was getting late so he went to the shared bathroom and freshened up.

It was just a year ago when he stepped into the school with his best friend, Luhan. They looked around with an awed expression, not shy to let it plaster their faces.

University of the Arts, Seoul.

It was their dream to be able to step into the school. They both majored in the same art: music. They could sing well – even well was an understatement – and Minseok usually sang the higher notes. They would sing by the fountain at the park whenever they found the time and they would – without fail – gather a huge crowd. When they finished a song, they would get a deafening applause as a response. They didn't even do it for money. It was such a joy for the pair to see those stressed business men and women stop by and hear them sing, walking off with a smile. They sang for the elderly who would take walks at the park. They sang for the children who would listen to them sing even during Christmas. They sang for everyone who enjoyed it and they themselves enjoyed it as much.

They walked to the great hall that was built on the second floor. The polished dark wood flights of stairs made them walk with care. The hall had many built- in air- conditioners and they walked through the big, wide open glass door where they found many students patiently waiting. They found chairs for themselves and like the other students, they sat down and began to converse in a hushed voice.

A sudden crackle managed to get all the students to sit up in an upright position as the headmaster of the university walked out on stage. He bowed and walked over to the microphone stand which was in the middle of the stage. He cleared his throat then began saying “Good morning our freshmen of The University of Arts. I am the headmaster of the school and my name is Lee Jong Suk. You may address me as Mr Lee. We welcome all of you with open arms.” He smiled widely as a loud applause was echoed within the walls of the hall. He held out his hands and the hall fell into a serious silence again. “Today's itinerary would consist of the distribution of rooms and the arts fair. Without much hesitation, I would allow the teachers to distribute all of you to your new rooms. Thank you and have a nice day ahead.” He finished off.

“Good morning our freshmen. I'm Kim Jihyun. Please address me as Ms Kim and I'll be distributing your rooms now. For those who have not applied for the rental of our dormitory, please step to this side of the hall and our teacher, Mr Choi will entertain all of you. For those who have applied for the dormitories, please separate yourselves according to your gender. Boys this side, girls that side.” She pointed out. She began reading out from a bunch of neatly stapled papers. “Girls first. Kim Soohyun and Lee Jae Mi, room 100. Park Miyoung and Sang Ji Song, room 101.” She read out 1 more page of names and finally finished with the distribution of girls. “Now, Mrs Jang will bring you to your rooms. Please follow her and try not to get lost. If you do, however, you may proceed back to the great hall and ask a teacher or one of our students who will be more than happy to help our junior students.
