For many years the royal Park family had reined the land of Koryo peacefully. At least, that’s what it seemed for the foreigners that visited. But my dears, if you opened your eyes more to what is real and what isn’t, you would be able to see that this kingdom was filled with sin and terror.

 Step out of line with the law and your head would’ve been cut off. Man or woman; peasant or wealthy; child or adult; it didn’t matter. Your head would still be cut off without a second’s delay.

 The King and queen ruled on their pleasure and wealth that which made them corrupt since the start of the king’s reign. Some say it was the queen’s influence, others object. Of course, what else would you expect from a man who killed the rightful king, the queen’s husband on their wedding night?

 Among those years they had two children. First, a female; the princess Park Sandara and then a so; the prince Park Sang hyun. There wasn’t much to be said about Sang hyun. Though for his older sister, Sandara, she was as devious as both their parents. When she didn’t get what she asked for, even if it wasn’t available, the person who was blamed was to have their head cut off or was hanged. There was even a time where she broke her doll on purpose just to get rid of the person she didn’t favor. Like the blood that ran in the family’s veins, so did the selfish characteristics that the royal parents had run in Sandara’s blood. It was more than ten years they had ruled the kingdom.

 But that was before the citizens had mustered up the courage to fight back.

 Soon, the family had no one to turn to. The soldiers that protected them, the dukes and duchesses, all who seemed to be their allies turned their back on the royal family as the citizens marched up to the royal palace and barged into the castle.

 After searching the palace, the citizens had brought out the king and queen from what used to be their home. As for the Princess Sandara and her younger brother Sanghyun, they seemed to have escaped from the castle.

 After being captured the king and queen were hanged at the gallows. As for the children of the late king and queen, they have yet to be found. If they were ever to BE found, they were also to be hanged at the gallows…

 Jiyong

 Jiyong?

“Jiyong.”

“KWON JIYONG!”

The teacher’s voice echoed through the dark haired boy’s ears as a piece of chalk connected to his forehead.

“Huh?! What is it?! Are we in danger?” Despite the pain emanating from his head the boy looked frantically around him only to find his fellow classmates chuckling silently or even not so silently at him.

As for his teacher, she sighed with pity. “No, we’re not under attack. But pay attention to the lesson instead of looking out the window!” She scolded him.

“Yes Ma`am…” Disappointed by what called him from his dreams of war and victories of his dream self, the boy turned his gaze once again to the open window of the wooden school house. Up to the sky where he would once again begin to daydream until school was over for the day despite his teacher’s scolding.

Still, he couldn’t understand. Even if the new government DID want them to learn the history, it didn’t have to be the history that happened too recently. Why did he have to learn something that happened only two years ago?
