FOUNDED IN 1914, EUNHUI ACADEMY IS CURRENTLY 100 YEARS OLD. THE SCHOOL WAS ESTABLISHED BY A PAIR OF KOREAN-CHINESE SISTERS; THE NAME OF THE ACADEMY COMES FROM THE SISTERS' NAMES COMBINED TOGETHER TO SHOW THAT BOTH SISTERS HAD A FAIR SHARE OF CONTRIBUTING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF EUNHUI ACADEMY. PREVIOUSLY AN ALL-GIRLS ACADEMY, THE SCHOOL WENT CO-ED AFTER 50 YEARS OF ESTABLISHMENT AS A FORM OF RECOGNITION OF THE FOREIGN SUPPORT GIVEN BY AN AMERICAN MAN, WHO OFFERED INVALUABLE ADVICE TO THE SISTERS FOR THE RUNNING OF THE SCHOOL. IN PREPARATION FOR THE SCHOOL'S 100TH YEARS OF ESTABLISHMENT, THE SCHOOL HAS BEEN BUILDING A GRAND DORMITORY ON AN ISLAND.
