Smiling at the crowd, with fingers intertwining each other’s, Hyomin and WooHyun went back into the limousine, heading back for their home. The moment the door closed, their hands separated almost immediately. To her, Hyomin wished that time would stop for at least a little while. She wants to feel loved by WooHyun.

Yes, she fell in love with WooHyun, right after a month of their arranged marriage.

Just like a Korean drama, Park Hyomin, a normal school girl, leading a normal school life, to find out that she has been engaged to the prince by her grandparents the moment she was born into this world.

Just like the female characters of a Korean drama, she resisted at first, not believing the fact that she will be leading her life with a stranger that she has no idea of.

And just like how a romantic Korean drama would be, she fell in love with her husband, the prince with a frozen heart.

She thought it was normal for him to treat her this cold since he too, has his freedom of choice taken away from him. She is older than him by two years, and she probably thought he behaved so because he didn’t want to be treated like a child.

She thought he would open up to her and eventually, fall in love with her charms, but yet, he didn’t.

Hyomin’s P.O.V

I sighed for the third time while looking at the ring on my finger. WooHyun and I, even though we are married, it is only on papers. We have our rooms’ separated, we have our meals separated, and basically, we do thing separately even though we were supposed to do it together. The only time when we are seen together, is only when the King announces that there will be guests, or there will be an event where we need to attend together.

I looked out of my window, to see WooHyun playing basketball alone, again. I have no idea why I fell for that guy, but things just happened. A month in the marriage, and I am head over heels him. Actually, not only I am head over heels him, all the girls in this nation are. He treats everyone nicely, including the maids. Only I get his “special” treatment which I don’t even like. I sighed once again, before lying down on the bed, daydreaming and falling asleep eventually.

The next morning when I woke up, I could see the maids running around the palace in a hurry. Feeling curious, I stopped one of the maids and asked for the information, to realize that WooHyun fell sick. Without waiting, I ran towards the direction of his room, and stopped outside, hesitating whether if I should step in. 

He dislikes it when I step over his personal barrier, which includes walking into his room without his permission. Just as I was about to turn away and walk off, the queen stopped me. “Oh, Hyomin, where are you going?” I gave her a smile and shook my head. “I think I shouldn’t go in, he doesn’t like it.” The queen sighed and patted my head. “I am sorry for dragging you into this mess Hyomin. I know both of you have no feelings for each other, but yet, you had to get married to WooHyun and tolerate him.”

I shook my head and looked towards the door, leading to WooHyun’s room. “WooHyun… He treats me well already. At least he didn’t torture me, or made me sleep outside the palace, isn’t it?” Upon finishing my sentence, the queen couldn’t help but chuckle. “How I wish WooHyun would fall in love with you.”

I wish that too.

The queen grabbed my hand suddenly and walked towards WooHyun room. Feeling my body tense up, she gave me an assuring smile and continued walking. “Don’t worry. Your mother in – law is here to protect you.” I let out a nervous chuckle and sigh in relief when I realized that WooHyun is asleep. 

I went to the side of his bed, and stood there, looking at his face frowning all the time. I bit my lips, not knowing what to do until I realized that I was the only one left in the room. I went to the door and tried to open it but turn out, the door was locked. Damn it, the queen must have been behind this. I sighed as I walked over and sat at the side of WooHyun’s bed, using the towel to wipe his face.

Once again, without realizing, I fell asleep.

WooHyun’s P.O.V

I woke up when I felt someone hugging me. I opened my eyes and turned to my right to see Hyomin hugging me. The last thing I remember was that I felt feverish and I fell asleep on my bed. Why is she here by my side? I sighed and was about to wake her up when I saw her eyebrows knitting together like as if she is having a nightmare. In the end, I just lied down beside her and continued looking at her sleeping. For some reason… she looks pretty. Why didn’t I realize it?

Just then, there came a knock on the door and Hyomin woke up due to the knocking sound. Seeing that I was looking at her sleeping state, her eyes turned wide open and shades of red started creeping onto her cheeks. She stood up immediately and got off the bed, apologizing in the process. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to sleep on your bed, it’s just the door got locked and … never mind! I’m sorry!” She went for the door and opened the door with ease.

Instead of walking out, she stood there, mumbling. “Why is the door unlocked now?” I chuckled at her expression and before I could call out to her, she disappeared in a flash. Why is she that scared of me?

I sighed again as I see my mother walking into the room. “Are you feeling better, WooHyun?” I nodded and she touched my forehead. “Get ready for dinner alright, let’s have a family dinner.” I nodded again and before I wanted to get down the bed, my mother’s question made me stop. “WooHyun, do you dislike Hyomin that much? She said you would dislike her if she steps in your room, so that’s why I had to lock the door and made her stay by your side. I realize that you don’t smile at her either. You treat her… so coldly.”

I looked into my mother’s eyes and smiled. “Mother, I don’t hate her. But that doesn’t mean I want her by my side either. You know… I always have a crush on Jiyeon, and because of Hyomin, I can’t be with Jiyeon. I know it is not Hyomin’s fault but I can’t help but not want to treat her nicely. Right now, Jiyeon got together with Myungsoo already; I lost my chance, and my love.”

My mother stood up and turns her back towards me before talking. “WooHyun, I raised you up not to become someone like this. Maybe you should look at someone else and not Jiyeon anymore. Both you and Jiyeon are not even possible in the first place and everyone knows she has a crush on Myungsoo from young. Anyway, dinner will be ready in 10 minutes. Please get ready.”

With that, she walked off. I went to the closet and changed out of my clothes before walking into the dining room. Upon reaching the dining room, I saw a maid with a tray of food, and my mother’s gloomy face. “Put it aside then, that poor girl must be tired from taking care of WooHyun.”

“Who is tired, mum?” My mum’s head turned to me upon hearing my voice and let out a sigh before answering. “Hyomin is…” Just as I was about to continue asking, my dad came into the dining room, and silence was observed. My dad is a strict king and a strict father. He doesn’t allow talking during dinner time which made me keep quiet, and not ask further about Hyomin.

Throughout the whole dinner, I couldn’t help but worry about Hyomin. Why am I worrying about Hyomin this much? I shook my thoughts away and walked off right after I finished my dinner. Just as I was on the way to Hyomin’s room, I saw her figure in the garden with my dog. She was playing around with the dog, which unknowingly brought my lips up into a smile.

Maybe my mother is right. Maybe I should move on, and not just look at Jiyeon alone.

For the next few days, I started talking to Hyomin which made her shocked at first. At first, she seemed awkward with me, but after a few hours, I feel like I met a whole new Hyomin. The quiet girl that always avoids me, the quiet lady that acts along with me in public, is actually an interesting and cheerful lady.
