JaeJoong - I'll Protect You

ChunJi ran his fingers over the neat row of CD's that sat on the shelves stuck on the wall. With his headphones over his ears, he pulled out random CD's, reading the back of the album. His fingers paused at a certain CD. He pulled it out and softly smiled at it. Inside a blue plastic CD case, was a clear CD in neat handwriting "ChunJi's Jam ;]". HeeJin had burned a bunch of her favorite songs for ChunJi to listen to. She had always thought his taste in music was weird, and vice versa. But now, they both love and hate the exact same songs. 

He took the CD out of its case and popped it into the silver stereo. Some of their favorite songs came on and he smiled. *She's become a part of me now. She's now more than the stranger that I was forced to marry. She's now the girl that can make me forget about the cold world and make me smile and create warmth in my heart.*

*FLASHBACK*

HeeJin was on her way home walking back from the library. She didn't want to make her driver come out so late at night so she just decided to walk. It was dark and cold outside. She rubbed her hands together to keep them warm. Suddenly, something cold and wet landed on her nose. *Huh?* she looked up and saw light snowflakes fall around her. A smile grew on her face. "Wah ~, the first snowflake of the year." she gasped. She continued to walk home but the snow got heavier. Her ears and nose were a bright pink from the cold and her hair was starting to get wet from the snow. *Aish, I should've taken the bus.* she thought. 

She continued to walk as she got colder and wetter. Suddenly, she stopped feeling the snow landing on her. She looked up and saw a black umbrella shielding her from the cold sky. "Yah babo, why are you walking home so late by yourself. At least wear the proper clothes." a familiar voice snapped. She looked up and saw ChunJi looking down at her. "C-ChunJi." her eyes rounded in surprise, "what are you doing here?" she asked. He gave her a fake smirk. "Do you even know what time it is? It's past 11 and when you wouldn't come home, I went out to look for you. Why won't you even pick up your phone?" he snapped. 

She pulled out her dead phone and held it up. "Sorry, no battery." she bit her lip nervously. ChunJi's expression softened and he smiled. "It's okay, as long as you're safe. Let's go home." together, they walked home. It was quiet but not awkward, at least, not as awkward as it used to be. *He came out in the cold and dark to look for me.* she couldn't help but feel a small flutter in her stomach everytime she thought about it. 

"But ChunJi, why didn't you have your driver drive you around? At least you would've been warm." she said. ChunJi gazed at her for a couple seconds then looked away again. "Isn't it obvious? You didn't call your driver for a reason. I might as well follow you and walk around like a normal person. Plus, it's nice to come outside like this. No one has to watch your every step." he smiled. 

Soon, they arrived at the Lee's mansion. Stepping insde the warm house, ChunJi dusted off the snow on the umbrella while HeeJin shook off the snow. She turned around and looked at ChunJi and gasped. "ChunJi! Why are you so wet?" she asked. "Huh?" he looked down and noticed that his shoulders were covered in snow and his clothes were damp. His hair was wet as if he had just come out of the shower. "Oh, I guess the umbrella wasn't big for the both of us." he shrugged. HeeJin lightly giggled and grabbed a small washcloth from the side. 

She took a step closer towards him and started to gently brush the snow off of him and dry him off. ChunJi froze in place as he watched her gingerly tidied him up with the small towel. HeeJin felt eyes on her and she stopped moving her hands. She looked up and met eyes with ChunJi. His lips were just a couple inches away from her forehead and he was looking down at her with a soft gaze.

She gulped nervously. *Why is he looking at me like that? Why am I getting so nervous? Why is my heart so freaking loud?!* she thought to herself. ChunJi couldn't help but wish that he could look at her beauty forever. From her milky skin to her pale thin lips and warm eyes, he felt as if he could melt from every single one of her features. *Was she always this pretty?* He felt a warm glow in his heart. *Is this...what love is like?*
