Sojin pulled the chocolate ice cream carton out of her freezer and grabbed the big spoon. She stuck it into Heejae’s hands. “Here – eat your heart out.”
Heejae muttered a thanks through her sniffles and scooped herself a big heap. “Wh-Why… Why did…” She sniffed. “Why did Yifan go out with me if… if… if he liked Danbi Sunbae?” Her whines turned to wails quickly as tears streamed down her face.

Sojin sighed. This was the third time in the past ten weeks that Heejae was sobbing over a boyfriend who lasted less than a month. Wu Yifan had lasted maybe nine days…
“Do you know how lucky you are, Sojin?” Heejae sniveled. “You don’t ever get boyfriends.”

Sojin hid her frown – Heejae had just basically called her a lonely, unwanted hag. Thanks a lot.
“I deal with enough breakups through you – I don’t need to experience my own,” she said with a sigh. After experiencing years of horrible relationships vicariously through her best friend, she had been sort of turned off by the immature men of their generation. Plus, she knew so much about Heejae’s exes that her life was theoretically filled with men. She didn’t feel the need to experience love or any of that crap.

“If you want to stay over, go ahead, but I have a piece to write for the magazine. It’s due tomorrow,” she said, pulling out her laptop. “I won’t be able to be the most attentive friend tonight, sorry.” It wasn’t that she didn’t care about Heejae’s sadness – it was just that since it happened so often, she knew exactly what would happen: Heejae would sob, be depressed for a few days… and then she’d find a new attractive guy and he would pick her right out of her slump. So there was no need to baby her or even worry over her; she’d be fine in a week’s time.

“What are you writing?” Heejae asked curiously – except it came out more like ‘Whf rr ooh rah in’ through her mouthful of ice cream.
“I don’t know – that’s the problem.” Sojin sighed and tied up her hair.
“Write about how guys are ed up beings and girls shouldn’t even bother with them anymore!”
“You’re overreacting.”

Heejae frowned. “I’m serious! …Wu-Wufan…” She began to whimper as she said his name. “… Wufan is the biggest in Hansegae… No, in the world – he’s the king of s!”
And her tears started again.

“Okay, okay – I’ll write it, okay?” Sojin pampered. “Now stop crying.”
“R-Really?” Heejae beamed, sniffling all the while. “This is why you’re my bestfriend!”
 

Sojin rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her smile. Heejae could be overwhelming sometimes, but she had good intentions. Plus, she had needed an idea for an article anyway – Hansegae Magazine was the most popular magazine in their school and she had needed an eye-catching topic to write about.
… And what would be more eye-catching than a piece about ty relationships, right?
This field was one where she felt like she was an expert… 
She stretched her fingers and began to type.

Created on Christmas, posted on New Years. What a holiday-momentous story.

*Mind you, this story is not a sure thing!
I have a couple of chapters written, but I'm not really positive I want to keep it as of yet. 
So think of this as a ... test run? Heh... It's a Beta-story or something. Not fully sure about the rating either as of yet.
