“You’ve got to be kidding me…” muttered Jiyong as their P.E teacher announced that this year’s school trip was a 3-day-skiing-only kind of trip. Jiyong loathed winter: snow, the cold air, the special beverages at Starbucks and winter sports. Even Christmas ceased to be magical since he discovered that Santa wasn’t real.

“Someone doesn’t seem too happy about this year’s trip.”

“Shut up, Soohyuk. You wouldn’t understand. You’re good at every sport. I, on the other hand, am lucky I’m not failing gym.” Jiyong complained.

“I never skied in my life! I might be as bad as you are at football, who knows?” Soohyuk answered with a small laugh.

“Why did it have to be skiing? Why is P.E. even mandatory?” He could already feel the great pain in his lower back.

“To make sure that lazy people like you actually move once in a while” Jonghyun answered, smiling.

Soohyuk and Jonghyun were Jiyong’s best friends. The three of them were in their senior year and always hung out together. Being the youngest, he was often teased by his hyungs. Soohyuk was Jiyong’s childhood friend, and they eventually met Jonghyun during their freshman year. Jiyong was nothing like them: quite short, shy and certainly not athletic. It’s not like he didn’t try, he really did, but sports weren’t quite his thing.

“Why are you guys always so mean to him?” Asked a voice that Jiyong knew all too well. A voice that made his stomach twist in knots. Oh how he loved the sound of his voice.

Seunghyun

Jiyong’s first and only crush. He transferred to his school a bit after the first semester of freshman year. The guy was so nice, and handsome. Everyone wanted to befriend him. He quickly gained many female admirers and got on the football team, where he met Jonghyun and Soohyuk. He’s been Jiyong’s lab partner ever since and they also shared P.E together this year (which made Jiyong worry at first, because he didn't think he could handle a sweaty Seunghyun in a lockers’ room).

“Aw, look who’s here to save his little princess.” Jonghyun teased. Soohyuk winked at Jiyong, who was, by now, a nice shade of red.

“B-be quiet, Jonghyun…” Stuttered Jiyong, silently cussing for being so easily embarrassed. Being shy and no matter how hard he wanted to get rid of his shyness, his old habits would come back.

“Hey, it’s alright.” Seunghyun was now standing in front of Jiyong. He lowered himself a bit. “I’ll show you how to ski if you want.” He smiled, making his abnormally big dimples come out.

He was definitely a dark, very dark, shade of red.
