"Kris?" Hanna whispered, tightening her hold on my torso. We were cuddling on the couch in my apartment, a thick blanket wrapped around both of us to keep us warmer. Hanna was resting her cheek against my chest and I was running my hands through silky strands of her red silky hair.

I hummed, waiting for her to continue.

"I had a nightmare last night. a very bad one." She said in a quiet whisper.

"Want to tell me about it?"

She nodded, and clutched my shirt tighter in her hand. "E-Eli. He was in my dream last night. He said he was going to take me away from you."

I felt anger rise in my chest again after hearing his name. I circled my arm around her tiny waist, and pulled her closer to me. "That won't happen, baby. I promised you that I'll keep you with me forever and I'll keep my promise."

Little that I knew fate was stronger than promises.
