Chapter 3
Bus CrushTaeyeon’s heart was beating very fast. The girl had leaned forward to tap her card and while doing so, her body brushed against Taeyeon’s causing the older girl to freeze. Taeyeon closed her eyes and in an attempt to calm herself down, she took a deep breath. As soon as she did that, she realized that it was a bad idea. Now, she was practically intoxicated by her scent.
‘Sorry’
The girl muttered as she got back to her original position. Taeyeon spent the rest of the bus ride trying to avoid eye contact as they were both facing each other. Just then, the bus came to an abrupt stop. Because of that, a few of the passengers found themselves almost falling on each other. As for Taeyeon, she saw that the girl almost fell and as instinct, she found her free hand holding the girl’s arm. Due to the inertia, the girl fell back against Taeyeon.
‘Urgh.’
Taeyeon groaned at the sudden impact.
‘I’m so sorry!’
The girl apologized as she immediately regained her footing. Taeyeon wanted to reply but she found herself unable to say a single word. She looked away avoiding eye contact with her bus crush and proceeded to plug her earphones in.
‘Oh god. What’s wrong with you!’
She scolded herself mentally. Soon after the bus continued it’s journey, more and more people started alighting. Taeyeon moved to the back of the bus to allow more people to board the bus. As luck would have it, a couple alighted a few stops later resulting in two empty seats. Taeyeon didn’t think much but decided to sit since it was still quite a distance before she reaches her stop.
She looked outside the window and as she did so, she felt someone taking the seat next to her. Taeyeon turned and realized that it was none other than her crush. Eventhough her heart was making multiple backflips, she couldn’t help but feel extremely nervous.
‘Talk to her! This is your chance!’
The voice in her head told her. Taeyeon shook it off and increased the volume of the music she was listening to. She continued looking out of the window, distracting herself with the surroundings. As she felt herself falling asleep, she also felt a weight on her shoulder. Reluctantly, Taeyeon turned her head to her side and saw that the girl who was sitting next to her had fallen asleep on her shoulder.
‘This is not happening!!’
Taeyeon was starting to panic a little. She didn’t know what to do. She slowly took out her phone to type out a text trying to make as little movement as possible. She was about to type a message when the girl stirred.
Taeyeon pretended to look away and out the window again. By then, her stop was the next one. She excused herself and proceeded near the exit. As she was alighting, she took one last glance at her crush not expecting anything in return. Instead, she received one of the most mesmerizing smile followed by a sympathetic bow.
While walking home, Taeyeon couldn’t help but smile.
‘I’m never going to wash this uniform’
She said out loud to no one in particular. She pulled the front of the shirt and smelled it. The scent of the girl was still there.
‘Oh god. I’m starting to creep myself out’
Taeyeon mumbled. The scenes of what had happened kept replaying in her head. The only thing she wished she had done differently was ……..gathering enough courage to at least say something to the girl.
