Whispers.

Description

I was so happy. We were so happy. Yet you had to ruin things. For me. For us. You ruined my entire life. You broke my heart. You're the reason I am now blind. To everything. However, in a way, I must thank you, for this blindness is not only a curse but a blessing. I can now see the world in a completely different way. I can see the world in whispers. Before, when I heard them, all I felt was fear. Now all I feel is joy. It means I am getting acknowledged. Getting the attention I crave. For all I know, you might be one of the people whispering.

Foreword

Inspired by the song 'Cried While Putting on Makeup/Makeup and Tears' by Raina and Jungah of After School and First Love by After School. They truly are beautiful songs.

Chapter 8: That was a succinct way to end it all. You've taken care of the loose ends (her memory of the day of the accident notwithstanding), and you've got everyone sort of on their own paths to traverse as they will. I still maintain it's sad what happened between them all and the fact that she really is left without the answers to that, but hopefully she'll be happy with her decision. At least she isn't in a rush and she does have a positive outlook on life with friends (old and new), and family to support her. While I don't know if she'd still be stuck in that quagmire she was in when the accident happened, it did certainly push things to change rather drastically. There's no denying that. And it's going to be interesting to see what the sequel holds. ^_^ Thank you for sharing.

Chapter 7: It's fair to say Hyeri's got a teensy bit to think over and whatnot. That was good of her to send Chanyeol away, for both of them. It can be incredibly taxing and all-encompassing devoting one's attention to one person only so good call on her part. Understandable too that she would have at least become more comfortable with Yuri in the end.

I don't know whether to think Hyeri's trying to be brave or stubborn in not saying anything about the pain in her hands. Granted, with how much everyone has already been helping her, it does make sense that she wouldn't want to be a burden to them any more than she probably already feels.

And even if she meant well, I wasn't too terribly keen on Yuri's sort of pushing Hyeri to lean one direction over the other. She's right about baby steps, but still... >.>

Chapter 6: And the final piece of the puzzle becomes clear. More or less. The letter definitely adds more questions to the pot but at least now we see what else was going on inside Jongin's head. Very interesting too how after everything, he still couldn't get Hyeri out of his head, no matter how hard he tried. Really, it just makes everything more bitter in the end; at least on his side.

For a little while, it was inspiring to read what he started off as and then how he changed. It also hurt to hear about his back story, but the way he talked about Hyeri was really warm and tender. Especially the way he regarded his being with her and not wanting her to just be another girl. Why do you play with my feels this way with the way things started off?! T_T *sniffs*

And we come full circle. Sad days indeed. Well at least now we know why Tao seemed a rather flimsy excuse (because it was), not that it helps things in the end. And that last line hits you right in the heart. Dammit! -_- At least you're evoking emotions though which is always good. ;)

Chapter 5: It was nice to get a perspective on Chanyeol. I'd be tempted to say it was almost creepy how much he watched/looked over her except for the fact that he's too much of a knight. haha Rather, he was hyper aware of all the little things, like their age difference, and her crush and then actual relationship.

That was also good of him to do as Donghae suggested, though I know it must have been hard. Likewise, it was very sad to hear about Baekhyun and Suho and how he sort of just gave up on them in the end. I understand about his being strong for Hyeri but even with the condition of their drifting apart, it feels even worse that he also let it happen (or at least any attempts to salvage said friendship weren't mentioned or explained so I'll leave it at that).

Though, as usual, the way that he strove to protect Hyeri were very tender and caring. And that little tidbit at the end was powerful in its own way. Not just because how he confronts Jongin, but also because of the latter's response. Ouch. On all fronts. T_T As were Hyeri's self-doubts and unanswerable questions. Poor babies. :(

Chapter 4: For something that you had to write on your phone, it was surprisingly well put together. There were some typos and such but that was about it so good job. ^_^ And it was a touching update too, on various levels. Not only because of Chanyeol's steadfast attendance to Hyeri but also for her own reasons for going to the church.

The way you described what she remembered was nice too and it gave a very reminiscent feel. You've also done well with tying up loose ends and questions insofar as Donghae's presence, or lack thereof, is concerned and I can only imagine what it would be like for Chanyeol to stop attending school to take care of Hyeri. I have to wonder too what his parents would have said about such a thing.

Though the ending was very sweet and I definitely grinned. Having the inability to see gives new meaning to the word 'surprise'. lol I liked how she initiated the contact though, albeit inadvertently. It just gave him the perfect opening to go for it and it was... right. As least as right as it can be given the circumstances. :)

Chapter 5: Loving Chanyeol right now. This is pretty good. The emotions are labeled quite right and it's just so sweet to see my boy all protective. Wonder what's going to happen next with all these little snippets you feed us.

Chapter 3: Another emotion filled chapter. Poor Hyeri. Even if she inadvertently did it to herself. >.> I'm very much enjoying how supportive Chanyeol is to her though.

She's also working through things as they come along which is good in letting us know what's happening. I'm glad you're not assuming we know how she's supposed to think or feel and that you are walking us through it step by step. It helps build on that lost sensation and the fear she's starting to experience and then you pulled Chanyeol into it too at the very end. Gyah! The shared emotion kills me.

With the advances they've made in treating eye trauma, it'll be interesting to see if she remains completely blind, but the title is starting to make sense! XD lol As for the rest of her, I'm guessing she scrubbed herself raw. :/ Yergh. That's also going to be a pain to get over, if she didn't do worse, plus I'm curious about her hands since she managed to stick them full of glass too. I see lots of scarring in general in her future. Bleh. But I'm definitely looking forward to the next update. Good job so far!
