It was midnight on Christmas eve. I stood in front of the giant Christmas tree at Seoul Plaza. My mood matched the little children who were waiting for Christmas morning, anticipation clear on my face. Where are you Kim Jongin? What are you planning? I stood there waiting for Jongin, without reason. I had gotten a call from him a half hour ago to be here at midnight. And there I was, at midnight. Without him. Hurry up Jongin-ah.

Kim Jongin. Just the thought of him made me smile. That man captured my heart three years ago. We met during our second year of college, we were in the same semester class. We started of as friends, but then we got closer and closer till he asked me out two years ago. We’ve been together ever since.

Forget it, Jongin must have blown me off. Wouldn’t be the first time though. Just as I turned to leave, I heard someone call me.

“Hana! Hana, wait!” Jongin ran up to me, breathless. “I’m sorry, I’m so late. There was a mix up at the store, then the traffic was horrible! I’m really sorry I’m late, but I’m here now!” I couldn’t stay mad at him, not for long anyway.

“It’s alright, I didn’t wait that long anyways. So why did you call me here?” I asked him.

“To do this.” And with that, I felt a soft pair of familiar lips on mine. Once I got over the initial shock, I responded, my lips moving in sync with his. He pulled me closer as he deepened the kiss, my arms quickly wrapping around his neck. We soon pulled away to breathe. Jongin held my hands as leaned his forehead against mine.

He took out a ring from his pocket and asked me, “Hana, I can’t imagine life without you. You bring color to my life, and fill that empty void in my heart that I didn’t know existed. I want to wake up every morning and see your beautiful face next to me. Will you marry me?”
