[a very long aka permanent HIATUS] Boys Meet Yui

Description

Yui (also known as Yoshioka Yui), a half-Korean and half-Japanese 20-year-old moves to Kyotango in Kyoto with her grandmother, which is by the sea. She was born and raised in Seoul, Korea, her mother's homeland, 'til she was 14. Her mother and father decided to divorce due to financial and marital issues in their marriage, and being pretty much a daddy's litlle girl, Yui went to Tokyo, Japan to live with her father even if her mother wants her to stay. A few years later, her father was diagnosed with cancer and died soon after. Being the only child in her small family, Yui didn't really have anyone else besides her dad and her granny from her daddy's side. So instead of moving back to Korea, she decided to move in with her grandma by the sea.

Little did she know that she'll encounter many interesting people during her stay.

'Sup guise~! ^_^ I made this fic, well, out of thin air, really. Teehee, Yui's appearance Yui is one of my fave Japanese artists and I think she fits the main character's personality so, here she is. Of course, as part of SHINee World, I'm quite excited that they'll be part of fic. Oh and somehow, I think I've made Yui a tsundere here (someone who's rough on the outside, but soft on the inside).

You'll know more about them when you subscribe, read, and upvote teehee~ XD <3

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Yui Yoshioka - The quiet yet talented lead of the story who will enter Kyoto University. She didn't have a lot of friends growing up, so she spent most of her time alone, taking pictures, baking, and making music. She's stoic, independent, and reserved. Doesn't trust others easily, but has a soft spot for children and animals. She also played a lot of sports since she spent a lot of time with her dad, but she's not really good at them despite that her favorite is soccer. Is afraid of thunderstorms and is oblivious to lovey-dovey stuff (until some events in her new life in Kyoto).

Onew/Lee Jinki - The smart and clumsy 23-year-old who owns SHINee Cafe. Often teased by his friends, but is no doubt capable of baking as well as cooking at the cafe. He's good with numbers and as the eldest, he knows how to lead his gang. A food lover who practically eats anything, and was from a rather wealthy family back in Seoul.

Jjong/Kim Jonghyun - The 2nd eldest of the group and has been friends with Onew when he was still living in Seoul. This cocky 23-year-old guy's musically inclined and he's the head waiter of SHINee Cafe who makes the female customers (as well as males) swoon at his flirtatious behavior. He usually helps Minho by distracting his fans so that he could make a run for it. Has a sweet tooth and is a sweet guy too.

Key/Kim Kibum - A sassy 22-year-old who is in his last year of studying in Kyoto University along with his younger friends. He's not related with Jjong but jokes around that they are a married couple that Jjong tags along in his jokes about it. Key's quite a fashionista who always makes an effort to look good and works behind the counter of SHINee Cafe. He is fond of musicals and is terrified of heights. Kim Kibum's name's known around the university like his younger friends' names are.

Choi Minho - Also in his last year in Kyoto University, this 21-year-old is a quiet and reserved person, but is quite famous with the women (and men) without even trying because of his innate charisma, especially when he stares you down. Minho works as a bartender and most of the time a waiter as well in SHINee Cafe and frequently has fangirls flocking around him at university and at the cafe. Cares a lot for kids and is an athlete.

Taeminnie/Taem/Lee Taemin - The youngest and is a bit clumsy like his brother, Onew. Came to Japan as soon as he turned 18 to help his brother run his cafe. The 20-year-old part-owner of SHINee Cafe is a phenomenal dancer and isn't bad at singing either. Taemin adores animals and banana milk. Though he is cute, he is really tired of hearing people calling him as such and before puberty, he was teased for looking very feminine. Being friendly and helpful to everyone are a few of his traits that make him just as famous as his best friend, Minho. He is a year younger than Key and Minho.

^___^ More characters will be introduced as the story goes on~

Note:

The POV will always be 3rd person, mostly focusing on Yui and I hope I do well~ >___< Here's a short prologue for y'all~

Foreword

0. Moved In ~prologue~

"Dear, already done unpacking your boxes?" The old woman asked, surprised that her granddaughter's room is spic and span in less than six hours.

Yui turns to her granny, nodding while standing up from her bed, "Yup. I didn't really have a lot of stuff and I already did some organizing beforehand in Tokyo."

She nods at the girl, "That's good to hear. Dinner will be ready in a few minutes, so come down soon, all right?"

"Yes, granny."

The old woman turned around and left, closing the door behind her. Yui sat back again, facing the open window by her bed. She felt the cold, summer breeze come in her room. "It won't be long 'til I attend my 3rd year in Kyoto University..." She thought, shaking her head and then closing her window.

She stood up and quickly left her bedroom. Going downstairs, she spots her grandmother still in the kitchen and she looks at the table, already set up with their plates, bowls, and chop sticks. All that's missing now is their food.

"Yui-chan, can you take this to the table? I'll just be a second with the rice balls." The grandmother called out to her granchild, holding a bowl of miso soup.

Yui simply responded, running towards her and then grabbed the bowl, "Hai."

The old woman replied with a smile, finishing the rice balls, "Thank you and oh, I almost forgot. It's Friday today which means that dessert will be delivered around this time."

"Oh, really?" Yui says with curiosity, placing the bowl on the dining table while looking at her.

"Hai, our neighbors own a cafe by the seaside and since I can't really go far with these legs, these nice boys bring some to me every Friday night." Yui's grandma said as she was still finishing the rice balls, and added, "They live just across from our house."

"I see." She casually sighs.

About to sit down, the door bell rang. Yui pulled her chair back, running towards the front door, "I'll get it." She says.

"The money's inside my coat, dear." The old woman reminded her.

Yui  got the money inside the cota's pocket while it hung on the coat rack. Opening the door, the boy in front stood with a slightly surprised look upon his face. He held the box in front of him, blinking a couple of times as his gaze met Yui's cold ones.

"Is this the delivery my grandma was expecting?" Yui asks blandly, pointing at the blue box he was holding.

Before replying, it looked like he snapped back to reality, nodding at her, "Y-Yes, good evening! Is she here?"

"She's busy at the moment. Here." Yui shows him the money while staring at the box.

The guy shakily grabbed it from her hand and handed her the box, "Here. Tell her that I wish her a good evening, o-okay?"

"Sure. Bye." She nods, expressionless as she looked back at the sheepish-mannered boy.

"Arigatou. Jaa ne."

After that, she immediately closed the door and went back to the dining room. Her granny was already sitting, so she sat down and opened the box for her. Her eyes windened a bit, seeing this beautifully made strawberry shortcake inside the box. She has to admit it to herself that their neighbors are quite talented for making such a wonderful thing.

"Suteki, am I right?"

"It is something. But you are taking your meds, right?"

The old woman lightly chuckles, "Of course, I am. Talk later and eat now... Itadakimasu~"

"All right, itadakimasu..." Yui sighed and then began to eat the rice ball slowly. It sort of reminded her of the kimbap she used to eat back in Seoul, except that this rice ball or 'onigiri' doesn't have anything inside it but plum.

~~

*Itadakimasu - similiar to Korean's 'jal meokkesseumnida'; something they say before eating

Jaa ne - mata ne, sayonara, annyeong, goodbye

Hai - yes

Suteki - cool

-chan - mostly for girls and -kun is mostly for boys; a honorific like -ssi, -ah, and can be used casually if familiar with the person

I'll update after I finish with my other fic, last chapter left~ :) Hope you support this fic of mine... Love you, guise~ <3
