Bonus Chapter OST

Taking the soft fragile petal of the cherry blossom in his pale weak hand, Luhan gently placed it on his lap. He stared at the petal and watched it blow away with the cluster of blossoms that had scattered around the concrete by the wind. He felt at peace, although there was this repressed  pain slamming against his inside to be freed. He didn't want to ruin this moment, this peaceful and serene moment he had with her. It won't be long until he would meet his end and when he did, he wanted to leave just like the blossoms being carried by the wind. Slipping his hand in his pocket, Luhan gripped the piece of paper and clamped his mouth shut tightly to hold in the pain that pierced him. He was running out of time.

Looking at the concrete decorated with pink blossoms spreading it's soft fragrance, Luhan let his mind wandered back to the day he had first met her. The day she had changed his life...for the better. How his life had been before he had met her. The constant drift that had continued to flow before she had came into his life.

"Don't talk to the strange boy or..."

Luhan was well aware of the not-so-subtle whispers going around the school for the past nine years. He wasn't really affected by it either; rarely that is. How could they hurt someone who was already immune to the same bullets he's been receiving for half of his life? Luhan had came to realize since the first day he learned of his diagnostic that there was no time to dwell on things that are lost causes. All these people who came in his life and threw him away weren't worth remembering nor cling over anymore than he already had. In the beginning, he wanted nothing but than to be a regular kid with many friends. When someone would give him any kind of attention, his face would lit up like fireworks on a starless sky. Someone wanted to be his friend, wanted to get to know him. So, he would follow them around like a loss child or a duckling. At those times, he wasn't aware how that must be annoying and burdensome.

For the past nine years, Luhan had became a glue. A glue to whoever showed any interest or acknowledge his presence. For being an outcast he had developed a trait to get attached easily, he hated it. He would walk them to their classes, their locker and even sit with them at lunch until they finally told him to back off. Of course, it wasn't in the most nicest way, but Luhan tried to take it lightly. He would give them a soft smile and walk away. There was a constant wall between him and his peers, a wall built just for him. It was a wall the others had built up to keep him away, because they did not want to be his friend who turns out to be a babysitter twenty-four-seven. To them he was "clingy", "annoying", "strange", and "burdensome." He tried to forget them and pretend that they didn't exist like they had pretended that he didn't. Yet, it was hard; especially when once a while someone would acknowledge his presence. He is a human after all, he wanted to have friends to sit with, share jokes and play with for little. He wanted nothing more than to be a regular kid instead of being that "strange boy" everyone avoided and made fun of.

Even if he was immune, once a while his shield would crack and those hurtful words would take over. Being alone, Luhan was glad of one thing when it cracked; no one would be there to see his tears and pity him. For nine years, Luhan had protected himself and had always wondered what would be the end of their warnings. "Don't talk to the strange boy or..." Or what? Luhan had wondered and it became clear. Glancing at her telling him the stories of her childhood with a smile, he realized then why no one should talk to him, or try to get to know him like she had.

There was a twisted pain in his chest as he stared out the window of the public bus. He had forgotten to take his pills before leaving for school and frankly there really was no point on taking them anymore aside from relieving the pain. He had stopped receiving treatments, it just didn't work on him anymore. The day his parents heard of the news that their only son had leukemia, they were devastated. But when they heard that the treatments stopped working on him and that there really was no hope for him, they were heart broken. Every night, Luhan would fall asleep at the sound of his mother crying and his father trying his best to comfort her. His father was strong, he knew he shouldn't show Luhan the weak side of him. He wanted to look strong and go through the day like it was a normal day for his son, even if it was killing him inside.

Taking out the tiny orange pill bottle from inside his bag, Luhan unscrewed the cap and took out a red and white pill. Tossing them in his mouth and swallowing it with distasteful expression, Luhan took a deep breath. Closing the bottle he looked around the bus and felt the loneliness dwelling on top of his head. Everyone had someone sitting next to them, talking and laughing. Even that short chestnut-brown haired girl with the cat-like eyes had someone sitting next to her; talking, laughing, sharing snacks. They didn't think she was "strange" for the unique and particular set of eye. Instead they shielded her from everything and anything they found unfit for her. She was treated like she was their little sister, protecting from harm and mainly interacting with him; "the strange boy."

There was a constant box around him throughout another half of the year. He sat alone in the corner seat by himself during class, his hands firmly planted either on his thigh or holding a wooden pencil. He never spoke up to answer questions nor was he asked a question to begin with. His ears would be open for any instructions given and when the class would end, he would wait until the classroom would be empty to get up. He was always the first to arrive for his class and the last to leave. He didn't have a friend to converse with, so there wasn't a reason for him to be late for his lessons nor have someone waiting for him after to walk him. During lunch he would have a table to himself in the corner, a vacant place where an imaginary dark cloud would hung over, fending away any other life form except his. Misery loves company and the tables misery was accompanied by Luhan. Yet, he had a smile on his face. He wasn't driven to exile to eat in a bathroom stall or outside, he had table for himself. Luhan took that as a sign that just maybe his peers actually did acknowledge his form.

Luhan never pitied himself. He was sure that people were pitying him and how they feel sorry for him. How they wish they could do something, but afraid that they would be shun out like him, they could not risk their social reputation for him. Luhan hated it. It may not show, but Luhan hated being pitied and people trying to be sympathetic for him. Still, he smiled. He pretended that it didn't matter and that he was perfectly fine with how he is. How long will the pretenses last? He did not know of the answer himself.

Luhan had never had a first love before. He had never really been given a chance to get to know someone for long enough to fall in love. When he was stuck at home at the middle stage of his illness, Luhan had watched countless of romance movies. Action and horror movies were annoying and it contained too much of violence and loud noises. Luhan, he preferred something quiet and emotional that contained only love. Watching the movies, it did not really help him that in the real world people fall in and out of love quicker than he had expected. Still, he wanted that. To have a cliché moment with a girl, hold hands, embrace tightly, share a kiss under the starlights or just share true honest words. If he could not meet his ideal girl to fall in love with, then he wanted to meet someone honest. Not those who approached him with secret motives and humiliate him. Someone with a kind and pure innocent heart.

And he did.

It took nine and a half year for someone to make him smile like he had. It was just something about her that made his heart lighter. He had been sitting in his seat in Art class. While listening to the teacher, Luhan stared off into the space with a smile. The teacher had instructed the students to grab a blank canvas and slowly with a grunt each students got up from their seats. Luhan didn't have to glance at them to know that they would be picking the canvas from the front of the class instead of the ones from the back. They would rather get crappy ones than to get anywhere near him. Getting up from his seat, Luhan walked up to the stack of canvases from the back of the classroom and begin to look through them. Picking one up and looking at the structure and the feeling of the sheet when he felt a presence behind him. Luhan doubted anyone would come up near him, but without any hesitation or a word, he took a step to the side. To his surprise there was someone behind him.

Luhan glanced slightly towards the figure stepping next to him as he begin to look through the stacks. It was the girl with cat-like eyes. Standing next to her, Luhan felt like the leaning tower. She was so petite and looked very delicate, no wonder she was protected; but there was something else. She had this bright glow radiating, a strong aura. She gave off this remarkable presence that she could take care of herself, that she was strong. Luhan couldn't help but to compare each other, how similar they are on looking fragile yet trying to be strong. Picking up a canvas, Luhan closed his eyes as the scent of Spring wrapped him around like a cocoon. She smelled so refreshing, he just wanted to stay there and continue to inhale her like a drug. Opening his eyes, Luhan sat it back just as her petite delicate hand brushed against his.

He held his breath as she quickly pulled away. Was it just him? He had this nervousness filling up his stomach as he felt the heat rising. The tinglingness lingered slightly before he shook it off. Slowly, Luhan glanced at her and wondered if she'll run away to her friends, telling them that she touched the "strange boy." To his small surprise, she didn't. Instead she held her hands together and stared at her feet. As if feeling his eyes on her, the girl looked up at him shyly. She had this innocent expression on his face that made his inside doing flip flops. Those eyes of hers were mesmerizing and somehow it made him slightly nervous. Giving her a small smile, Luhan picked up a canvas and handed it to her. He watched her staring at it before taking it from his hand with a small, soft smile spreading on her flustered face. "Thank you," She told him before she turned around and walked back to her seat.

Luhan stared at her with a unreadable expression. She had spoken to him, noticed his presence. Smiling to himself, Luhan picked up blank canvas and sat back in his seat. Maybe he was getting ahead of himself. Picking up a pencil, he begin to plan out the sketch on his mind of a scenery with the sunset fading off in the distance. Maybe, she was one of those who had to say "Thank you", to make themselves feel better. Maybe that smile had unconsciously escaped and she was regretting it right now. Why wouldn't she? He was the plague that everyone avoided.

For the remainder of the class, Luhan finished out the sketch and wrote his name on the back of the canvas. Taking his time to pack his belongings, he listened to the exchanges of murmurs and giggles between the classmates as they left until he heard the crash. Looking up from his bag he noticed the cat-eye girl getting on her knees as she told her friends to leave without her. She had dropped the contents in her bag onto the floor. Pulling on the strap of his bag, Luhan got up and walked over quietly. Picking up the book, he got on one knee in front of her and handed it to her before he helped her pick the rest. Getting the phone she had dropped, Luhan handed it to her before he got up and pulled the strap of his bag again as he turned to leave. Then, she said something that made him stop in his track. "I'm Ginni!" She shouted an octave higher than she had spoke to him earlier. Turning around slowly, Luhan stared at her, a little speechless. Slowly, a warm smile spread on his face, a smile he hadn't felt in a long time.

"...Luhan." He told her his name as he felt a touch on his heart. A touch that was spreading like wildfire. Hopefully, when the fire dies down, a utopia would be born instead of nothing but ashes.

Luhan had learned that Ginni was full of surprises. The next day in Art class, he had took his canvas and begin to fix the little mistakes he had made when a shadow was casted over him. Looking up, he was surprised to see Ginni standing in front of him with her bag and easel. She asked him if she could sit next to him. Luhan was definitely caught off guard, no one had ever asked to sit by him. It was hard to ignore all the whispers and stares that was directed towards him, it made Luhan question her motive. Was she one of those who was trying to be her "friend" and throw him away like a used tissue? He had yet to meet someone who was honest and frankly, Luhan was debating a little on whether or not saying "Yes." Then again, Ginni had this virtuous glow and she had took the step to tell him her name; and even asked to accompany him by sitting next to him even with all the whispers. Smiling a little, Luhan nodded. A relief spread on Ginni's face as she sat her bag down on the floor and set the canvas on the easel next to his.

It was a bit awkward. The last time Luhan had a "friend" was four years ago and it didn't end very well. He had thought at the time that maybe this guy was different, maybe he'll be a good friend. How had he been so wrong about that. It was a plot, a plot to humiliate him. Luhan's mother nearly had a heart attack when she saw her fifteen-year-old son coming home soaking wet from head-to-toe and covered in flours with bruises. What made her heart ache even more was the fact that he had been smiling, smiling like nothing was wrong. He had pleaded her parents not to call the school and report the students who had been responsible. Luhan smiled, saying he deserved it, that he was being "clingy" and his friend did not like it. Holding his mother in his arms, Luhan apologized for being a nuisance and for causing so much pain. He was causing pain left and right, he had never knew just by smiling through this kind of situation caused more pain.

Rubbing his thumb against the gray shaded region of his drawing, Luhan snapped out of his trance. He had been sketching on his drawing pad for the past two hours while answering to Ginni's questions. Yes, she had been asking questions and he had been answering subconsciously. He can see the little frustration appearing on her faces at his simple one word answers and short replies. She was getting frustrated, but she shook it off and kept on asking. She wanted to get to know him even though he was making her want to possibly tear her hair out. Luhan smiled softly. Tearing out the page carefully, Luhan folded the drawing as the bell rang, signaling that the class has ended. Picking his bag up, Luhan placed the paper on Ginni's easel and turned to her.

Rocking back and forth on the heels of his Nike, Luhan gave her a small smile and waited for the to open the paper. Watching her unfolding the paper and a bright smile spreading on her face, Luhan couldn't help but to let out the breath he was holding. She had endure sitting next to him and listen to his lame replies and experienced his anti-socialness. The drawing was the least he could do to show his appreciation. The appreciation of her taking a step and prove that she wasn't just out to get him, that she was actually willing to get to know him. "Thank you," Ginni smiled at him. Nodding with a smile, Luhan his heels and walked out of the class. There were eyes on him as they whispered among themselves, but Luhan was oblivious to the m for the first time. He was too happy to even notice them, he was in his own little world.

Luhan was continuously surprised by Ginni. The following day she had gave him a smile and sat beside him in class, greeting him. Luhan looked around the class and surely found the cloud of stares they were receiving, but when he looked at Ginni he was amused. Amused that she wasn't bothered by it, or was giving any attention to them. She had talk to him like they have been friends for years, asking what he had done when he got home, if he had plans for vacations. As if that didn't surprise him enough, she had asked if she could sit with him at lunch. Luhan was more than happy to say "Yes." Yet, part of him told him that she might change her mind. So, when Ginni placed her tray on the table and sat next to him in the cafeteria, Luhan begin to slowly realize that Ginni wasn't the stereotypical girls who cares for reputations.

For the past two months, Luhan and Ginni had gotten closer. He would walk her to her classes, sit with her, share whatever snacks Ginni would bring, help each other with homeworks and even call each other when things get boring during the weekends. Of all those things, there was one thing they haven't done as normal friends would do. During the weekends Luhan wouldn't see Ginni. There were countless of times Ginni would ask if he would like to go to the movies or hang out, but Luhan would come up with various of lies and use it as an excuse. He wasn't strong enough to go out, he needed the weekends to distress and get better for the week days. His parents were opposed to him attending school, but Luhan had begged. Even though students weren't the most nicest, it was better than staying home locked up in a hospital scented room. He wanted to be out. His parents agreed only if he'll stay home during the weekends and Luhan accepted the deal. In school, Luhan would greet Ginni with a smile and laugh at her cute little jokes. Admire her beauty and the courage to befriend him. He was oblivious at the time about his feelings for Ginni, even that warm feeling that made him feel nervous and shy whenever he would look at her; he brushed it away.

Luhan felt more closer to Ginni the day he felt the battle inside him getting more intense. After lunch, Luhan excused himself to the restroom and walked calmly down the hall until he was out of Ginni's line of vision. Breaking out into a quick run, Luhan pushed past the door and stepped inside the empty restroom. Covering his mouth, he hastily slammed open a stall and got on his knees as the food he digested came pouring out of his mouth and into the toilet. Grabbing to the edge of the toilet, Luhan coughed. There was a stinging pain in his throat, a scratchy feeling that forced him to either cough or choke. Tears stung his eyes as he coughed as if he would throw up his lungs. The white toilet seat was soon covered with decorative splatters of white liquid as Luhan clenched his chest. The more his coughs became intense, there was a stabbing feeling against his temples. Spitting out the blood as the pain inflicting coughs die down, Luhan slumped against the floor and wiped his mouth with his sleeve. Grabbing the toilet papers, Luhan wiped the blood off the seat and grabbed another handful before hurrying to the sink and soaking it with water. Wiping the seat once again to get rid of the tiny stain, Luhan flushed the toilet and slowly walked back to the sink and the faucet. Rinsing his mouth over and over, Luhan splashed the cold water onto his face and turned off the water.

Grabbing the sink, Luhan glanced up at his reflection and saw how the color had drained from his face. Digging inside his pocket, he pulled out the pill bottle and took the two before swallowing them. The weekend rest wasn't good enough for him anymore and neither did the pills. Luhan realized there was no choice but to stop coming to school before he gets any more worse. Drying his face with the paper towel, he pulled out his phone and called his mother, telling her of his situation. She told him she'll be picking him up soon. Glancing at his reflection once more, Luhan pinched both his cheeks to give some colors before plastering a smile on his face. Walking out of the restroom, Luhan found Ginni waiting for him in the hall outside the cafeteria. He walked her to class and bid her farewell, lingering slightly because, this will be the last time he would ever see her. With a smile, he watched her walk in her class, but before he could turn and leave he heard the crowd gathering around the petite girl.

Seeing the scene, Luhan remember two months when the same thing had happened. It was the first time he had walked her to her class when they gathered around her. He had stopped in his track, listening to them unloading their questions and frustration on the girl. They demanded her to stop associating with Luhan, asking her why she would befriend the boy. Luhan had asked himself that question before over and over, but never had the courage to ask her himself because he was afraid of her answer. Glancing over his shoulder, Luhan looked at Ginni giving them a soft smile that could easily warm anyone's heart. "Because, I like being his friend." Luhan could feel his heart pounding against his eardrums. Her words pierced straight into his heart, but not in a bad way. No, it was good, the feeling it was spreading on his ill heart. It took Luhan everything to keep himself together instead running up to her and wrap his arms around her. She didn't pitied him, she actually wanted to be his friends. And Luhan had doubted her in the beginning. Seeing her smile and letting her words sink into her friends, Luhan realized there and then.

Random act of kindness does exist.

Ginni's kindness made him forget the pain, made him feel like he could get through each day with a smile. Putting on the smile, he walked away from her class and into his with the memory. In his class he waited  for his mother to pick him up and leave. He wished he could of told Ginni "Goodbye" and tell her how much she meant to him, but seeing how she had many caring friends Luhan was sure that he wouldn't be missed. Her friends wouldn't be frustrated with her or avoid her when she's with him. She'll be accepted back under their wings and forget him. He'll be nothing but a distant memory to her and to everyone else, because soon; there won't be a Luhan in this world. Luhan, would be nothing but that kid who used to sit alone. That kid who just disappeared one day and never came back. A forgotten face in the yearbook.

Luhan woke up with a heaviness on his chest weighing him down on the bed. He couldn't move, not entirely without having this feeling of a needle poking him from every directions. Grabbing the bed sheets, he bite down his lips and pushed himself to a sitting position against the headboard. Even the slightest movement like that caused his breath to shorten and the sweat to bead down from his forehead. He had this painful migraine pounding in his head; he wanted to cry, cry out in pain. But instead, he reached for the almost-empty bottle of pills on his nightstand with a cup of  water. Stretching his arm out, Luhan reached for it, but somehow it seemed so far. His visions narrowed as everything seemed to be further than it really appeared. Stretching a little further as he pushed the cry that tried to escape, Luhan knocked over the glass on the table and fell out of the bed. His left arm collided with the edge of the table from slamming against the wooden floor with the weight of his body. The pain ripped through his throat as he cried out in pain.

The pain was agonizing. He tried to bite his lips down and pull it back, but every time he moved just slight an inch, the pain would ripple throughout his entire body. There were bruises forming on his body and he had rammed himself against it. The shock it sent made him cringe in agony. The tears trailed down from the corner of his eyes as he screamed in frustration. It hurt, every part of his body hurt and he was so...pissed off! The door slammed opened and his father quickly ran in with his mother. They pulled Luhan from the floor and helped him back on the bed. The tears stung his eyes. He was frustrated that he couldn't even get a glass of water by himself without causing a ruckus. It wouldn't stop, the tears of pain and frustration wouldn't just stop.

It continued. The helplessness, the constant cry of pain until slowly he couldn't feel parts of his body for becoming numb to the pain. He could move, just couldn't feel the pain anymore. Luhan wasn't sure if he should be happy that he couldn't feel the agony anymore or worry that this was the final stage. Knowing how he was basically lingering between life and death, his mind was filled with all different sorts of negativity to make his state even worst. He refused to go to the hospital and his parents didn't fight him, mainly because he wasn't responding to the treatments anymore. So they paid for hospital house care and had a doctor visit him four times a week.

For the past two months, Luhan's daily routine was to take medicine to ease the growing pain and sleep. If he wasn't doing either of those, he would watch the movies his mother would rent out for him. His hand itched to hold a pastel or even a pencil with his half filled sketchbook to draw something, anything. Sadly, he didn't have the enough strength to even work on a piece for more than five minutes without dropping them. Curling under his blanket, Luhan closed his eyes and cried softly. He couldn't do what he loved, he was hurting those he loved; at times Luhan just wished he was gone already, but then he would see her face in his head.

Ginni would be crouched in front of him, looking up at his sick ridden face with a warm smile. She was the reason why he hadn't given up yet, why he was continuing to fight the losing battle. In hopes to see her face once more and give her a smile, telling her how sorry he was for disappearing. He wanted to wake up one morning without being sick and pull her into an embrace, an embrace that may question his feelings for her. Each day his skin became paler as the pigment begin to fade. Bruises begin to form all around his body, headache has gotten worst that the throbbing feeling against his head made him want to scream. He had lost his appetite in food that he begin to stop eating even though he was hungry. He would sleep longer than he would usually and at times he wouldn't wake up for so long that is mother would break down in tears thinking that he had left her. She would call his name with tear streaked face as the cries choked in .

He would wake up to find his mother in a meltdown and all Luhan could do was give her a soft smile saying he won't leave without a fight. And Luhan wasn't going to.

The inside of his body felt like it was in a constant war when Luhan woke up. The coughs he had been repressing was fighting its way towards the surface when Luhan heard the doorbell echoing throughout the house. Normally, he would brush it off knowing it was the doctor, but the fact that the doctor wasn't suppose to arrive until the next day Luhan was curious. No one made an attempt to visit their house before, not the neighbor nor their relatives. Mainly, because their relatives were still residing in Beijing and the neighbors, they weren't really keen on to knowing his family, not with knowing how they have a sick son. Luhan wondered who it was at the door when he heard his mother's voice. The person outside the door spoke so softly that Luhan wouldn't hear her name nor distinguish her voice. It was when Luhan was pulling himself up to a sitting position on his bed when he heard the footsteps passing this door along with the hushed voice. Luhan's heart stopped for a split second when his mother asked for the guests name once against as they past the room.

"Kim Ginni, ma'am." The soft voice answered. Luhan had to stop moving and try to think clearly for the name to register. Did he heard it right? Was Ginni really here? The possibility that it really maybe her, made Luhan's heart flutter. She was visiting him, he actually mattered to her that she was visiting him. She haven't forgotten him, no, she still thought of him. That's why she may be outside his door in his house. Luhan's curiousness grew more each minute until there was a knock on his door. Opening the door, his mother poked her head in with a small smile asking if he was feeling better. They both knew the answer to that, but Luhan nodded with a weak smile. She told her son that he had a guest, a pretty girl with short chestnut-brown hair. Luhan gave his mother a smile that warmed her heart, letting her know how he was excited to see her. Luhan wanted to see her, he wanted nothing more than to see that beautiful face of the girl that befriended him. His mother nodded as she left the room.

She really was here, to see him. Luhan curled his hand into a fist and pressed it against his lips to cough slightly when the door opened once again. Lifting his head, he felt the butterflies in his stomach fluttering around when Ginni stepped inside his room and closed the door. At the sight of her, Luhan's face glowed. He gave her the brightest smile he could muster up, but he knew it looked weak and seeing how Ginni's face shatter at the sight of him, Luhan was well aware. He must be really horrendous for her to face him. He knew his skin was pale, there were bruises on his body that appeared while he was asleep, and the dark circles under his eyes that formed and wouldn't disappear no matter how much he slept. Ginni dropped to her knees and covered her face as the tears begin to flow. He didn't like it, he did not like it one bit. The smile on his face disappeared as he pushed the cover, Luhan grimaced as he got out of the bed and made his way towards the young broken down girl.

The tears were pushing its way up to the surface and no matter how much Luhan tried to push it back down, it defied him. Wrapping his weak fingers around Ginni's, Luhan took her dampened hand as the tears slowly spilled down from the corner of his eyes. He wanted to stop her tears, but he didn't know how. He didn't even know how to stop his own that made both their heartache. Luhan grimaced slightly when Ginni threw her arms around his and cried against his chest. Luhan wrapped his arms around the petite girl and held her as tightly as he could. The sound of her muffled cry was like a stab to his heart. It pained him and it frustrated him that he was the cause for her tears. Luhan held her without loosening his grip. He had longed for an embrace, a kiss, a smile of Ginni's while being stuck in this self made hell. He held her tightly because this hug maybe the last intimate thing they will ever get to share before he leaves. Before he goes to sleep one day and never wake up.

Luhan was more than ecstatic when Ginni began to visit him more and more often. She would come by his house early dawn and greet him with the smile he loved so much. He would sit up in his bed and played with the food on his bowl or plate while Ginni ate hers like her life depended on it. He couldn't help but to chuckle. She was always hungry and had a big appetite, she didn't care if she might get fat or get a tummy ache. Luhan really loved that about her. Each morning Ginni and Luhan would exchange stories between each other before she would have to leave for school. Luhan was reluctant to bid her farewell, but knowing that she'll be back once school has ended made him hold himself together a little longer. There was a weariness on Ginni's face whenever she would leave, she, too was reluctant to leave. Afraid that while she's at school, Luhan might leave her. Luhan rested her assure that that would never happened even though he had worried about it as well.

Once Ginni would return from school, Luhan would help her with her homework and listen to how her day went. She would complain about the littlest things and throw a little temper tantrum when Luhan would joke and . The way she puffed her cheeks and the color of her face would turn a little red made her look so adorable that Luhan wouldn't help but to chuckle at her expression. Each passing day Luhan would wait for Ginni and each passing minute she wasn't with him made him feel like he was about to die a little quicker. It was then Luhan could see through his obliviousness and realize that he was in love with Ginni. He never told her though, he couldn't. He had already pained her by showing how weak and frail he looked, how the sight of him made her break out into tears. If he told her that he loved and leave, it'll just ruin her good memories. Glancing at the sketchbook on his nightstand, Luhan decided to let her know when she was ready and healed.

Each night he would write down the important dates, from the day he had met her to the day he would be gone.

Luhan wanted to protect her. From witnessing the horrible sight of his sickness, but a even he couldn't protect her that long. They had been watching a movie when Luhan begin to feel his throat closing, the heat that fired up in his lung. He could feel the burning liquid fighting its way out. Covering his mouth, Luhan coughed. He coughed out the red liquid as if someone had been squeezing his throat. The blood splattered onto his hand as well it decorated his bed in crimson color. Clenching his chest, Luhan coughed against as the blood smeared on his heating face. Luhan glanced at Ginni slightly and saw the tears streaming down her cheek. The poor girl looked helpless. She quick grabbed the tissue box and begin to wipe the blood off of him, but the more she did the more Luhan coughed. Ginni started to hyperventilate as her blood stained hands shook. Luhan hated to see  the fear in her eyes. He wished he could stop by the blood was beginning to fill his lung and the harder Luhan coughed there was this throbbing pain in his temple that made him want to cry out.

Luhan felt like this was the end when his mother rushed in. She ushered Ginni to take some breath outside while she  cleaned up Luhan. He didn't know what was happening. At one point he was choking on his blood, the next he was breathing the metallic air of his blood. He could breath again. Wiping the tears that had made its way to the corner of of his eyes, Luhan took the glass of water his mother handed him and drank it. It was written all over his mother's face. He didn't have much time.

Each passing day, Luhan grew weaker in a faster pace. His days were numbered and that number was nearing. Luhan had woken from his sleep and he felt his whole body going up in flames. He couldn't move his legs with crying of agony. Turning his head, he smiled softly at Ginni. Sitting on his chair next to the bed, she had fallen asleep next to his cold pale hand. He slowly lifted his hand and gently her short chestnut-brown hair. It felt so soft against his hand and the fragrance it gave off made Luhan want to drown in it. Watching her peaceful sleeping face, Luhan wondered if she'll find someone to love her as much as he did, or maybe more. Someone to tell her how beautiful she is everyday, admire her beautiful cat-like eyes, tease and joke about her little tantrums and art skills. Hold her and kiss her like she's his life. Marry her and have kids together, leading a beautiful life he only wished he could ever get to experience. Caressing the side of her face, Luhan wished for Ginni to find happiness instead of pain in life. Wished for her to have a happy life. Feeling the touch of his cold hand against her cheek, Ginni opened her eyes and smiled at Luhan.

Smiling Luhan whispered, "Will you take me somewhere?"

He wanted to see the cherry blossoms. When he had first came to Korea he was greeted with the cherry blossom petals and it was the beauty he has never forgotten. There was a place where the trees would blossom with cherry blossoms and spread its serene fragrance. It was his special place and he wanted Ginni to see it, because she was his special person. He wanted her to visit every spring and remember him, know that he will always be with her.

Sitting in the wheelchair, Luhan smiled softly as Ginni pushed him down the petal covered concrete. He felt like he was home and the blossoms were welcoming him back. Moving to the wooden bench with Ginni's help, Luhan pushed away the pain and smiled. He wanted to enjoy the peacefulness with Ginni and remember that even though his life was short, he had a great time. He didn't regret anything, because he had Ginni with him. She was with him even though everyone told him to stay away, even though he was dying. She was willing to spend her days with him and go through hell with her. He couldn't be more happier to have her in his life.

The cough was worse. It clouded his visions and made him feel dizzy, wanting him to collapse. There were gray splotches in his visions and Luhan was well aware that it wouldn't last long for more than few minutes for him to fall into nothingness. Reaching inside his pocket, Luhan pulled out a folded piece of paper and handed it to Ginni. He had asked her to open it only when she was ready. He could read the confusion on her face, but Luhan knew she would figure out the meaning. She was smart and strong, she would be ready. When she is, she would know of his feelings and hopefully it'll bring her love. Luhan smiled at her as Ginni nodded.

Luhan closed his eyes a little when Ginni reached over and placed her lips gently against his cheek. The lingering heat transferred from Ginni's lips and onto his cheek made his heart flutter. He gave her a weak smile as he held her hand in his as tight as he could. He could see the confusion written on her face when he told her of the instruction regarding the note he gave her. Of course, it would be a bit confusing, but he knew her. He knew that she will know what the instruction means when the time would come. He wanted to tell her his feelings right there and then, but he was afraid. He was afraid of getting reject right before he would close his eyes into a deep slumber. Yet, he knew he wouldn't be. Knowing Ginni, she would lie to him that she feels the same just to make him smile, make him feel like a happy man dying.

He didn't want the lie. Guess, he would die without knowing of her feelings towards him. Glancing at Ginni as she talked of her childhood memories, Luhan was happy. Happy to know that he had found a happiness to last him through either hell or heaven. Even if she saw him as a friend, he was happy knowing that he mattered to her. That he made an impact in her life as much as she had made in his. Luhan was happy. He was happy enough to close his eyes longer every moment and embrace the cold emptiness that invited him into an embrace. Squeezing Ginni's hand, he listened to her sweet honey-like voice filling his ear. He wanted nothing more than to listen to her voice as he took each step towards the mysterious staircase that led to nothingness. Closing his eyes, Luhan wondered. How his life would have turned out if he wasn't sick, if he had been the one to talk to Ginni first. Would she be still interested in befriending him? Luhan wondered as his felt his hand numbing and slipping away from Ginni's as his eyes continued to remain shut.

Touching her short chestnut-brown hair self-consciously, Kim Ginni walked down the empty concrete path. She should be in class, getting ready for the first lesson of the year. Instead, she was skipping school or maybe just the first period. She had took the first step towards the school gate, but at the last minute she turned around and waved to her friends that she'll be back later. Of course, she'll have some kind of reasonable explanation to her teachers why she had skipped out and possibly get scold by her parents. But something told her that it'll be worth it. That following her heart to come to this place would be worth it. Looking up at the trees, she imagined how beautiful it would be during the summer, with all the baby pink cherry blossoms covering the wood. The blossoms dancing against the spring breeze, showering its fragrance and blanketing the concrete. A sight she had once seen with him.

It was a sight Ginni would  definitely wait to see again. Curling her hair behind her ear, Ginni pursed her lips when it would escape and shadow her face once again. With a sigh, she turned around to head back to her school when she noticed a tall figure staring up at the blossom-less tree with his hands tucked in his pocket. She would have ignored him if it wasn't for the fact that he was wearing the same uniform as hers and not to mention someone beside herself was risking getting detention by skipping. Tilting her head slightly, she stared at him wondering who is when the male slowly turned around. Panicking, Ginni turned around too quickly and twisted her ankle, causing her to fall on the concrete and drop the contents out of her bag. Biting the inside of her cheeks, Ginni let out a frustrated sight while rubbing her ankle. Did he see her? Why did she feel this sudden nervousness filling stomach? Having this mental Q & A, Ginni jumped when she felt a hand touching her shoulder. Slowly, she turned around and stared at the male crouching down in front of her. Grabbing her book from the ground, he held it out towards her as he lifted his head.

Ginni gripped the edge of her skirt as she stared at the brown Bambi-eyed boy. She didn't know where they had came from, but it was filling her stomach in an instant; the butterflies. It was fluttering around inside of her stomach, her face was flustering as the heat took over her body and made her nervous staring at those eyes. She wanted to look away because she was pretty sure it would be strange to stare at someone for so long, but she couldn't. There was this strange feeling that told her that she knew who he is, or that she should. The smile on the boy's face disappeared as a worried one took its place instead. He asked her if she had hurt herself, if she was in pain. Ginni was confused at the question, but then remember she did hurt herself, she had twisted her ankle. But it wasn't the reason why she felt her cheeks dampened when she touched her face with her fingertips. "No..." Ginni whispered as she stared at the tears on her fingertips curiously. Why was she crying? What was it about this boy that made her feel all these strange emotions.

Ginni held her breath when the boy reached out his hand and cupped her cheek gently before wiping her tears with his thumb. Giving her a soft smile that melted her heart, the boy gently locked her loose hair behind her ear and oddly, it stayed in its place. Taking in Ginni's profile, the boy looked straight in her cat-like eyes and gave her an eye smile. "I'm Luhan." Ginni slowly smiled back as she took the book and accepted his help on getting up. His hand felt so soft and it fitted perfectly with hers. His touch lingered and the fire spread like a wildfire before he pulled it away. "I know," She smiled. She didn't know how, she didn't know why. But she knew him, her heart knew him; it longed for his and something told her, his did too. Reaching her empty hand towards him, Ginni gently caressed his cheek. Pressing his hand against Ginni's, Luhan leaned against her touch and looked at the with the dark clouds surrounding his visions. "I'm dying..." He whispered to her as he watched the tears welling up at the corner of Ginni's eyes.

Giving him a soft smile as the tears masked her face, Ginni's voice cracked as she knew it in her heart. "I know....my strange boy." Luhan gave a light chuckle as he closed his eyes. Ginni wanted to stay like this forever, but she knew she had to wake up and face the reality. She knew it in her heart, because it had happened in reality. He was gone, he was gone without knowing her feelings. Luhan; he was the boy she had reached out to, the boy she had fallen in love with. "Don't talk to the strange boy..." Luhan warned her like her friends had. Drinking in his voice, Ginni remember the question; "What would happen if you talked to the strange boy?"

Taking her hand and kissing her palm, Luhan cupped her cheeks and pressed his lips against her forehead. Clenching his shirt, Ginni let the tears wash her. Pulling back, Luhan pressed his forehead against Ginni's as his tears blurred his visions. "Or he'll fall in love with you." Closing his eyes, Luhan took Ginni's hands and pressed them against his lips. He had to leave, this was a visit. A visit down the memory lane, a visit to let Ginni say what was in her heart. "If you talked to the strange boy...you'll fall in love with him." Taking a step back, Luhan held onto Ginni's hand until their fingertips were apart. "And it'll just break your heart." Ginni clenched her chest as she watched Luhan fading away. Her cries choked backed her words, the words he had to hear. Breaking out into a run, Ginni stretched her hand out towards Luhan's. Tripping on her own foot, Ginni stumbled and fell on her hands. Sitting on her knees, she curled her hands into fists as she clenched her skirt. The hot tears dropped against her hands as she cried. "I...I..." Ginni hiccuped as she lifted her head and let out the heartbreaking cry.

"I know." Luhan's voice wrapped around her. Even though he was gone and she couldn't see him, Ginni could hear the smile in his voice. He knew. He knew now, that she loved him. Hearing his voice, Ginni broke out into a smile. Wiping her tears with the back of her hand she smiled as the breeze brushed past her and decorated the empty trees with cherry blossoms. Looking up, Ginni pressed her hand against her cheek. She could still feel the lingering touch of Luhan's. It was feeling she would never forget. Closing her eyes, Ginni was ready to face the reality, because she had gotten the chance to tell Luhan what was in her heart. Even though it may have just been a dream, something in her heart told her that Luhan had heard her from where he was.

Opening her eyes, Ginni softly smiled at the little boy sitting on his knees next to her bed. Chewing on the apple piece in his chubby little hand, the boy reached out with his empty hand and touched his mother's dampened cheek. Covering his small hand with hers, Ginni took it and kissed the top. Sitting up, she glanced at the calendar and stared at the red circle circling today's date. She had a date, a date with her first love. A date her husband more than encouraged her to have. Dressing herself and her son, Ginni picked him and walked to the car. Putting him in his car seat, she took the passenger side as her husband took the wheels. They stopped at the flower shop for Ginni to pick out the white roses. Back in the car, she sat them on her lap gently. Staring out the window and Ginni watched the scenery changing until they arrived at their destination. Getting out of the car, she could see his parents getting up. They turned around and met eyes with Ginni's and smiled.

Picking up the flower, Ginni slowly made her way down the grass hill. He watched her as he held onto his son. Taking the child's hand he kissed the top with a smile when he asked where his mommy was going. "To see someone who changed her life." He told him as he watched his wife. He wasn't jealous, nor angry with her for having feelings for someone who had passed away ages ago. No, he admired her for that. Whoever the boy had been, he had me a huge impact in her life and for that he wished he could thank the once strange boy.

Sitting on her knees, Ginni placed the flower on the tombstone. Resting her hand against the engraved letter's, Ginni smiled softly. "I saw you in my dream," She spoke with her voice shaking slightly. It's been years since Luhan left the world, yet the pain was still there. It lingered around her heart and Ginni knew it wasn't going to leave. "I never got to tell you, but I think you already knew somewhere in your heart.. right?" Smiling, Ginni wiped the tears that surfaced. "I love you, Luhan." The breeze gave her a kiss on her cheek and Ginni could have sworn she heard Luhan's voice whispering against her ears with a hint of smile.

"I know."
