BABY SITTING

The reigning little prince of LEESSANG Company ran throughout the agency building with an almost fully crumpled paper in his hand searching for his appa.  The doe-eyed boy is excited to see his big man since he hasn't been home due to the dedication he has for his new role at work.  On the other hand, his umma is struggling to keep up with him seeing as she's still in her stage clothes, complete with the usual Louboutin heels.

"Umma ppalli! I wanna show appa my dwawing,” the four-year-old boy told his mom, stopping in his tracks so as to let her catch up.

“Jin Woo-ah, I know you’re excited to see your appa but please no more running? Umma’s feet is hurting already, hmm?,” the woman coaxed her son, as she held his left hand to keep him by her side, walking the rest of the way towards her husband’s new office.

“Why don’t chu take dem off?,” Jin Woo asks his mom, pointing at her heels with his pouty lips.

“Well baby, your appa gave me these as a gift and I just want to show him how much I like it by wearing them,” she told her son with a smile, looking down and seeing him nod in understanding.

When they finally reached the door, Jin Woo didn’t even give his umma a chance to knock—he freed himself from her hold and simply just turned the knob to run inside.  The woman sighed and chuckled to herself before making her way inside the office.

“APPA!!!,” Jin Woo screamed at the man behind the large black desk while he ran towards him, ignoring the two familiar men that turned around, seated in front of his father.

The man of the hour, smiles from ear to ear as he saw his wife’s mini-me running towards him.  He stood up from his chair and away from his desk and opened his arms to engulf his son in a bear hug.

“I missed you tons buddy,” the grinning man told his son as he picked him up to let him sit on top of his desk, kissing his forehead.

“I’m sorry for interrupting boys, the little one couldn’t be bothered with knocking first,” the woman told no one in particular as she strutted her way over to the group.  She winked at her husband and halts for a second to lift her left foot from behind to show off the heels he got for her; he bites his lower lip and mocked a silent roar as a sign of approval.

“Dang noona—still looking as fine as ever!  Why are you with hyung again?,” one of the seated men cheekily asked, checking out the woman clad in a simple body-hugging black mini-dress shamelessly.  Faster than a blink of an eye, the other man beside him slapped the back of his head.

“Yah Kwangsoo! You don’t say that to a married woman—even if you’re close friends with her! Aish this kid! I’ll make sure UEE kills you. Sorry about that Mong Ji,” the man in the colorful suit said after shaking his head in annoyance, realizing that their maknae will never truly grow up.

Ji Hyo laughed it off and waved her hand towards the two when she finally reached them, already used to the antics of the youngest.  She then yelped in surprise as she felt a pair of arms snake around her waist from behind belonging to none other than her husband, his chin resting on her left shoulder.  She turned her head to kiss him on his cheek but her husband sneakily turned his head just in time to catch her lips on his.

“Gary!,” Ji Hyo scolded her husband with a light slap to his cheek thereafter to which he replies by sticking his tongue out, stepping backwards to head back to his Jin Woo to ruffle his hair; the kid now basking in all the attention his dad is giving him.

“Eyes off Giraffe before I poke them out; hyung can you slap him harder next time?” Gary warned the former and schemed with the latter while squishing his son’s cheeks with his palms; his hyung nodding in agreement.

Ji Hyo just shook her head at the boys’ exchange thinking how some things just never change through the years.  She turned towards her family and suddenly remembered something.

“JinJin, where’s the drawing you wanted to show daddy?,” Ji Hyo asked her son sweetly as she stepped beside her husband, his arm now encircled around her waist.  She already saw his drawing earlier right after her press conference  at SBS building and she couldn’t help but laugh and kiss her son at how adorable he was as he explained to her his drawing.

“Hey! Show it to the Kwangsoo, Haha and Gil uncles too!,” Kwangsoo whined, pulling himself and his hyung off of their seats to gather around the now blushing tyke.

When all the adults crowded around the boy, he took his time in straightening out the crumpled paper he’s been dutifully holding beside him on his father’s desk.  After he was done getting rid of the creases as best he could, he smiled to himself for his accomplishment.

“JAJJANG!,”Jin Woo yelled out with a big smile on his face as he held his drawing up in front of his audience.

The men looked at the piece of paper, Gary taking it from his son while Kwangsoo and Haha looked over from his shoulders off to the side, confusion clearly written on their faces. Then as they took their time in dissecting all the stick figures, they howled laughing in unison.  Ji Hyo had to slap each and every one of them to keep their voices down.

Jin Woo began to pout and sniffle, his tears on the verge of falling thinking that his appa and uncles are laughing at his drawing because it’s ugly. Ji Hyo noticed her son’s actions and immediately cradled his face.

“No no no my baby; your dad and uncles are laughing because they love your drawing so much, it’s so cute that they’re even crying,” Ji Hyo told her son, giving him a bbobbo on the lips while “accidentally” stepping on someone’s foot beside her—Haha, the unlucky one, bit his tongue to keep himself from yelping in pain as the kill heel dug itself in one of his toes.

Overhearing the conversation between mother and son, all the men coughed and nodded their heads in agreement with Ji Hyo and asked the little one to explain the drawing himself.  Jin Woo declined at first with a vigorous shake of his head but once his mom urged him to tell them exactly what he told her earlier, he does so with no hesitation.

“I just want lots and lots and lots of playmates because Gil hyung is gettin old and den theys no moh to play wit. So in da middle is appa, umma, and me wit my futue little bwothah o sistah. Den at da side is Aunt Eun Hye wit Uncle Jong Kook and da baby twins. At da othah side is Uncle Haha wit Aunt Byul and they futue five kids.  At the top is Uncle Kwangsoo with Aunt UEE and they futue buuuuuuunch of kids.  So so so in futue Halloweens we can all go twick o’ tweatin togetha,” the animated little boy explained, pausing in between sentences, after his father handed him back his drawing, using it as a visual and pointing at each area complete with hand movements.

The little prince’s “extensive” explanation left the men agape with Kwangsoo choking on his saliva. Ji Hyo couldn’t help but laugh as she saw their faces; they thought that the “bunch of kids” at the top meant Kwangsoo’s kids at his academies, just like she did when she first saw the drawing.

“Why does your Aunt UEE and I have the most kids little man? That should be your mom and dad’s job!,” Kwangsoo told the little boy in bewilderment before pinching his chubby right cheek.

“Because I only wanna shay half of da attention of appa and umma,” Jin Woo replied with a cute knowing smirk, covering his giggling with both of his small hands.

“Ohhh you’re a smarty-pants huh? You want all the attention huh?,” Kwangsoo asked (with a devilish twinkle in his eye) the little boy who is now in his arms as he walked over to the lounge area, putting Jin Woo down on the sofa.  Before the boy could even respond, his uncle began his attack by tickling his poor tummy; Jin Woo’s laughter filling the office.

The parents smiled seeing their son almost in tears from his never-ending laughter while Kwangsoo and his relentless fingers continue to torture the young boy.

“When are you and Byul going to start your own family? You’ve been married for what? Two years now? Give my son a real playmate Haha-ya, so Kwangsoo can finally grow up!,” Gary told Haha, nudging him continuously with his elbow.

“AISH! Yah! I ain’t in a rush like you and Jong Kook hyung; my wife’s still young haaaaaa,” Haha replied mockingly not knowing that a dark aura has begun to appear behind him; he realizes his mistake once he saw Gary in front of him, pointing at him then continuing on to drag the same finger across his neck. He slowly turns around and gulped in fear.

“What. Did. You. Just. Say. Ha. Dong. Hoon?,” Ji Hyo questioned Haha while walking ever so slowly towards him.  Her usual sweet  eyes now turned into slits (oh if looks could kill, Haha would be writhing on the floor covered in his own blood right now)—her anger reaching new levels.

“M–m–m- mooong Ji, chahkahman! That was just a j-j-joke! W-w-who cares about age anyway right? You look too young to be oooOooooOo---ld!!!,” Haha managed to finish while running away from Ji Hyo as she broke out to a full run after taking off her heels and handing them to her husband.

“Baby, help mommy catch Uncle Whitey!,” Ji Hyo called out to her son when she ran past the couch where Kwangsoo lay, tired from roughhousing with his ‘nephew’.  On the other hand, Jin Woo was still energetic as ever and took off his coat and threw it over his uncle’s head on the couch, making Kwangsoo flinch in surprise—too tired to move and take off the coat that’s fully covering his head; the little boy squealed in delight as he ran to help his mom.

“Whitey?! What am I a dog?,” Haha asked out loud as he continued running.

“Well you sure do run like one,” Ji Hyo happily answered him before Gary stepped in once they’ve ran a full circle around the office, blocking her from running any further to steal another kiss from her lips.

“Heyyy you’re being a distraction you know,” Ji Hyo stated when she broke from their kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck as a sign of welcoming his interruption.

“Oh? But playtime’s over,” Gary replied to his wife who is now flushed against his form, his arms wrapped dangerously low around her back.  Just as he said so, Haha can be heard groaning in pain while holding on to his manhood; the culprit fallen onto the floor on his rubbing his head from the impact but smiling nonetheless.

“Umma I catch him foh you!,” Jin Woo declared in triumph, pointing at his Uncle Haha who was now on the floor beside him in a fetal position making both Ji Hyo and Gary laugh out loud.

“Jagiya, how about we work on our little princess starting tomorrow?,” Gary whispered to his wife’s ear while they still kept their eyes on their son who’s now making his way over to them.

“Bwoh?!  You’re thinking about that now when JK Tiger oppa practically asked you to look to his agency too? Jin Woo’s future sibling can wait,” Ji Hyo answered her husband softly, holding his face so she could directly look at his eyes.

“That is only temporary! That car accident just scared him so now he wants to spend as much time as he can with his family but he’ll be back by the end of the month—trust me! Plus I miss you and Jin Woo; I miss us,” Gary further cooed to his wife ears before placing his forehead on hers.

“I miss us too but how can we—you know…spend time together when Jin Woo is off from school for the week because of renovations in his school?,” Ji Hyo explained to her husband, giving in to what he wants.

Just then, Jin Woo tugs his appa’s pants, his parents let go of each other so Gary can crouch down and pick their son up.  Suddenly, an idea hits Gary.

“Jin Woo-ah, your umma and I are just going to go start working on your—ow!—I mean your umma and I need to go to the dentist tomorrow, do you want to come with us?,”  Gary asked his son, surviving his wife’s kick on his shin, already knowing what his answer was.

“SHIRUH!!! I don’t like!,” Jin Woo shook his head continuously to further emphasize his despise towards anything that relates to the monster, otherwise known as the dentist.

“That’s okay then. Mom and I will be back from the dentist by Tuesday so tomorrow, YOUR FAVORITE UNCLES WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU AND GO TRICK OR TREATING WITH YOU FOR HALLOWEEN, mmkay?,” Gary told his son making sure to say the last part out loud so everyone in the room could hear.  Jin Woo nodded his head in eagerness—he’ll do anything as long as he didn’t have to go to the dentist.

“BWOH?!?!,” the two uncles exclaimed, the one on the couch now sitting upright with a panic-stricken look on his face while the older one on the floor remained in a fetal position, peeking his head out with a constipated look plastered on his face.

“HUL~~~,” Ji Hyo said, not knowing how else to react as she stared wide eyed at her “needy” husband who was willing to leave their son in the hands of amateurs.

“What? It’ll be good practice for when they both have a buuuuuuuunch of kids in the future,” Gary justified his decision with a grin, making his son laugh and clap in his arms upon hearing his words which really only meant one thing to Jin Woo—lots and lots and lots of playmates!
