Power cut

Description

When a power cut hits the Super Junior dorm, they are all forced to react.

Foreword

Kyuhyun sighed as his screen went black, and all of the lights went out. Hearing a soft voice, he stood up from the computer and fumbled through the darkness towards the sound. Moving his hands in front of him, he jumped when he felt his fingers touch soft material.
"Who touched me?" whispered Zhoumi, also moving his arms around.
"Me. Kyuhyun" the younger boy whispered. "Sorry, I didn't know you were there."
"It's okay, here, hold my hand so we stay together."

Holding tight to each other's hand, they walked slowly towards the sound of the gentle voice.
"It's okay Hae, please don't worry. It's just a power cut. It's got nothing to do with the movie."
"But hyung, in the movie there was a power cut and then there were ghosts moving about in the house..."
There was the sound of sighing, and Kyuhyun moved into the room. "Listen to Yesung, Hae. It'll be alright. Do you both want to come with us?"

Moving together as a four, they saw a small light coming from the living room. Leeteuk was standing there, lighting as many candles as he could. The warm glow filled the room.
"Here, take a candle so that you can see. You all need to rest."
"Hyung, they're too small to take just one! Please can we sleep here with them all?" Hae begged.
"Okay, get lots of blankets and see if there are any other candles."

As the other members joined them, bringing blankets, Leeteuk smiled. When Ryeowook came, he brought a box of scented candles that he had bought, and they added to the glow. The leader hugged Hae tightly, reassuring him that the power cut was just because of the wind, and not ghosts. Everyone cuddled round, and Kangin laughed.
"Look, it's like we're camping! We should tell ghost stories, like about the ghost I saw in the living room.."
Donghae looked around in fear. "What? Here?!"
"Yes, a figure all in white, dripping with blood. Exactly where you are now Donghae!"
The boy was pale and shaking, and Leeteuk glared fiercely at Kangin.
"Stop it.. You're really scaring him.."
The boy nodded, and looked at Hae gently. "He's right. I'm so sorry Hae for scaring y- Oh my God there she is!!"
Screaming, Hae hid his head in Leeteuk's chest, whilst Kangin laughed so hard he fell over. Ryeowook hit him lightly. "That was cruel Kangin.."
The older boy just hugged the smaller boy tightly. "I'm sorry Wookie, I couldn't stop myself.."
"That's a terrible excuse.."
"I know."

Donghae just hugged into Leeteuk, trembling in fright.
"It's okay Hae, it's not real. Kangin was just joking."
"B-but he said th-" Suddenly he screamed.

Leeteuk turned around to see Kangin moving around with a white blanket over his head, and he hugged Hae tightly.
"Just ignore him Donghae. You're safe here with us. Don't look at Kangin, or listen to what he says."
Glaring at Kangin, he motioned him over, and pulled him into the bathroom.

"Kangin, I mean it. Stop. Scaring. Donghae. If you make him scream or shake one more time, then you're in charge of soothing away the nightmares for the next week. I can't deal with this any more."
Kangin put his arms around the leader, and hugged him, knowing that he was exhausted from the week, and from caring for all of the members. The power cut had pushed the leader over the edge, and Kangin decided to be more gentle with the members. Reassuring Leeteuk that he wouldn't scare Hae again, they went back to the circle.

This time, Kangin went to sit with Hae, and gently soothed his hair. "Don't cry Hae, I'm sorry for scaring you."
"Is there really a ghost here hyung? Is she really in our living room?"
"No, I made it all up. There aren't any ghosts here at all."
"Promise?"
"I promise. Now, lie down and I'll tell you a nice story" he said softly. When no one moved, he frowned at them all. "I said, 'Lie down and I'll tell you a nice story'!" he shouted, making sure that everyone lay down.

Resting on the blankets, Yesung shuffled a little. "You'll make such a gentle appa" he whispered sarcastically, making Wook giggle.
"Alright, is everyone comfortable?"
Hearing the soft murmurs in agreement, Kangin started the story.

"Once upon a time, there was a small mouse. He w-"
"I don't want a mouse story hyung.." Hyuk whispered. "Can't you tell a story about fish?"
Kangin sighed deeply. "Eunhyuk, it's really late at night. Please will you listen to the story? I don't have the patience for this.."
There was a small sniffling sound, and Hyuk whispered. "Yes.. Sorry Kangin.."

Feeling guilty, the boy gently stretched out an arm to touch his shoulder. "Hyukkie, are you crying?"
"N-no.."
"I'm sorry.. Come here" Kangin whispered, his voice gentle as the boy shuffled over and lay next to him. "I'll tell you a story about fish. Will that help you to sleep?"
At the small nod, he began to speak. His voice was soft as he told the story, and he felt Hyuk hesitantly hug into him. Hugging the boy back, Kangin whispered quietly until the end of the story.
"And they all lived happily ever after. The end."

"Can we have another story hyung?"
"No."
Kangin ignored the small whines and pleads from Hae, and looked at the small boy in his arms. Eunhyuk had fallen asleep, his hair falling over his eyes as he rested his head on Kangin's chest. His skin was soft and smooth, and his eyes were perfect. Looking at the boy, Kangin wondered how anyone could ever think of him as ugly. Although he teased Eunhyuk occassionally, he loved him dearly and didn't think of him as ugly at all.
Gently his hair, he felt himself falling asleep.

A few hours later, and Hae was clinging to Yesung's sleeve.
"Hyung, she was here. The living room ghost.."
"Hae, there's no such thing. Kangin made it up just to scare you. Please, just cuddle up with me and you'll be fine. Never believe Kangin."
Looking at the boy, he almost kicked him so that he would wake up and have to deal with the panicked boy. But then he saw the gentle way he was supporting Eunhyuk, and the soft way that they were curled up together. And he knew he couldn't do it. He couldn't bring himself to kick Kangin and risk waking Hyuk up. The boy had been having nightmares, but he wouldn't tell anyone about the fears. This was the first time in a week that he had slept so peacefully, and Yesung wouldn't disturb his sleep for anything.

Hugging Hae tightly, he whispered soft words in his ear. "Really Hae, I promise that there isn't a ghost. Try and go back to sleep, there's no need to be afraid. I'll make sure that you're safe."
As the boy relaxed, Yesung smiled gently at him, and kissed his hair as the younger boy fell asleep.

All lying together on the blankets, Yesung smiled at the members surrounding him. This was what he needed, this was what he was hoping would happen. Closing his eyes to sleep, he made a mental note to wait another night before reconnecting the electricity.
