In the Palace's northwest garden, hidden behind a tall hedge, is a lilac pond, The Lilac Pond. By the pond stands a willow tree, dippings the tip of its long leaves into the water as if asking the surface for a kiss. Surrounding the pond are lilac bushes. Having not been trimmed for over a hundred years, they are quite overgrown but still bear the lush purple flowers that gave the pond its name. Outlining the pond are stones, rather flat stones that have tall grass peeking through the cracks.

The inhabitants of the forgotten Lilac Pond of the Palace vary. In the water swims koi carps of white and orange accompanied by the tadpoles that become frogs who like to bask in the sun on their lily pads.

The most important inhabitant of all is the Guardian of the Lilac Pond. He is a spirit who is bound to the pond for life. Yesung spends most of his time silently caring for the lilacs or feeding the fish. It's best if he stays out of sight during the day so he usually does so, only hiding in the leaves of the willow tree for the majority of his time. But at night he's able to roam freely without the worry of being seen.
