PAUSE | ENTER IM YOONA   After the sudden confession-incident, nothing was ever the same between Hee Jin and me.  I feel like I had to say something to her. I wasn’t just sure what it was. Apologizing never cross my mind, because if I take those words back, it would mean that I am not sincere—which I was. I don’t regret saying that I loved her.   After all, no one can control how they feel.   I wanted to act cool, like ‘hey, it’s no big deal. People confess every time and sometimes they get rejected’. Or ‘I love you, but it doesn’t mean we’re getting married’. I just wanted us to get on our lives. But there are times that I spaced out just thinking of her. I wanted to see her. I wanted to worship her. I miss her. I wanted to make everything alright, but I didn’t have the words. I didn’t have the guts.     Hee Jin might have been freaked out. I could tell by her reaction when I told her I loved her. Who wouldn’t anyway? You just met someone, been friends for a couple of days and all of a sudden you’re in love with her—that is crazy. Hee Jin doesn’t hang out with us, saving me for making up excuses to go and rot in my own world.   Im Yoona entered my life as Moon Hee Jin tries to make an exit. As per Baek Hyun’s words, Im Yoona is the mega babe in my college. We we’re all bewitch by her beauty. She was really nice (she greets everyone with her cheery attitude) at the same time she can be the opposite of innocent—a temptation to all mankind.   The first time we saw Yoona, it was at the university field, during college sports. We (Me, Yi Xing and the Beagle Line) were sitting at the bench, taking a rest when Im Yoona—who just finished her 100 meters sprint race took off her jacket and boy… we’re all speechless.   “That… Is… bodacious…” Baek Hyun says dramatically, word per word.   “Agreed.”   Im Yoona was the person our World Literature professor paired me up with for our midterm paper. For the next few days, I spent every spare moment I had with her. We talked about everything. I was fascinated with Yoona. I had never met anyone like her. Her independence was contagious. I was hypnotized by her eyes and smiles. I was so fascinated I had almost forgotten about Hee Jin.   One day, while proof reading our paper at the library, Yoona broke the silence. Tousling my hair as we sit side by side, “now that paper’s almost complete, I’m really going to miss talking to you.”   “Who says we need to stop hanging out? We can still do that every day.”   “Nice.” Without warning, Im Yoona planted a kiss on my cheek. It lasted only a second but it felt like a lifetime and I thought I was going to faint, but I told myself to keep collected and cool.   UNPAUSE | TOO MANY FISH IN THE SEA, BUT…   Being with Yoona may have put Hee Jin out of sight and out of mind, but I’m starting to miss her. It’s been two weeks since the last time we talk.   One day, while waiting for Yoona at the campus ground I saw Hee Jin standing under a tree—alone. I didn’t know what to do or what to say. If the so called ‘Beagle Line’ was with me, I’m pretty sure they’ll help me dig and bury myself on the ground or maybe call me names such as: weakling, wuss and chicken.   I decided to pretend that I didn’t saw her. I turn around and was about to take a step when I felt a tap on my shoulder—it was Hee Jin, smiling widely. “Hey.” She greeted me first. It was like the first time I saw her, my heart was pounding loudly against my chest. Thump! Thump! Thump!   “Hi. Long time no see Jin.” Lie. I sometimes walk on your building just to see you.   “Yeah.” She laughs. “You got busy or something?”   “Sort of. So how are you?”   “I’m good. Are you with Jong Dae?”   “No, I’m with—” Like on cue, Yoona stood next to me and I feel like a douche, a big douche. On the other hand, Hee Jin gave me this look, a teasing look and she almost wiggled her eyebrows at me. I cleared my throat and swallowed hard. “This is Im Yoona, she’s one of my classmate. This is Moon Hee Jin, she’s uhm, she’s my, she’s a—”   Hee Jin extends her right hand to Yoona and they shook hands. “An acquaintance? A colleague?” Lu han, pull your together!! She laughs again and it made my chest at peace. I miss that.   “I’m one of his friend’s cousin… Making me one of his friends too. I guess?”   “Oh. Who’s cousin? Jong Dae? Baek Hyun?”   “Min Seok’s. Kim Min Seok from College of Law. He’s also an athlete – Taekwondo.”   “Oh, yeah, I know him. He’s really nice and quiet.”   “Hee Jin!!” The three of us look at the direction where that voice came from. It was from a guy I have never seen before.  He was tall like, so tall that if he’s not playing for the basketball team, it would be such a waste. He is so calm thus making him looked cool. I was nothing compare to him which made me feel small and kind of get jealous.   “I got to go now. It was nice meeting you Yoona.” She shook hands with her again and touch me on my arm and squeeze it. “See you around Lu Han.”   They turn around and walk opposite our direction. I watch as he say something to her and she just laugh. I watch him as he gets Hee Jin’s bag from her and drape it over his shoulder. I watch them as they disappear into the crowd with teeth gritting as this green eyes monster is taking control of me.       Im Yoona probably noticed that I am frowning and that’s when she asked me, “who’s she Lu Han?”   I heave a heavy sigh before answering her.
