Final Memory

Airplane [OC Version]
Author's Note: Before you start to read this I would like to ask you to read the Author's Note that will be the next chapter for a message from me as well as an additional and optional mini epilogue/ending that represents my vision of how their story "ends".

Please also look out for some new stories written by me as well as a new story that my friend and I are co-authoring entitled Sworn to Secrecy.

"Come with me AeRin. Let's go fly an airplane together with our hopes and wishes. Okay, love?"

"We'll fly one on our wedding day."

"That's a promise."

The words just felt like yesterday to Yixing who's sitting on top of a hill, a slight breeze in the air, prickling along his skin. Tear stains adorn his face and despite normally trying to hide those tears, he wears them without notice today. He looks down to the paper airplane that lies in his hands and thinks back to the past few days.

AeRin had been released to the hospital with the notice that she was going to have to take it easy and that even then there was a possibility that something would happen and she wouldn't make it, but that didn't stop the couple from believing that everything would be fine. They announced to their family and friends that they were engaged and wore smiles everyday together, spending their days apart became rare - there was an undying need to be with each other in their hearts.

The morning light filtered in through the window, the boys eyes flutter open and looks over at the alarm clock on top of his nightstand. 8:30 AM. He smiles slightly as he reaches over for his cellphone and pulls up the text messages between him and his fiance. Quickly typing out the message he now sends every morning: 'Morning love. It's a new day, and I still love you more than the last. Don't forget to take your medicine and the vitamin supplements. I'll see you soon.'

Yixing sits up and stretches, ruffling his hair before getting dressed for the day AeRin and him had planned. Today they were going to go dress and tuxedo shopping. The couple was planning the wedding with ease and decided to go shopping together. The boy was excited to see he in a beautiful gown, something that flowed. He slid his wallet into his right pocket before picking up his phone to read the new text message that had arrived, smiling.

'Morning. I took all my medicine and vitamins. Thank you love. Thank for always being there for me Yixing.'

He slides the phone into his pocket before picking up the keys and walking out to his car, and getting in. After picking up his fiance he drove them over to a boutique and as they stepped through the doors he looked at AeRin who's face showed nervousness. Taking her hand in his, he slowly ran his thumb over the back of her hand to calm her down. She rested her head on his shoulder for a second and smiled.

They sepereated the couple briefly as they started to pull dresses and tuxedos and Yixing quickly found the one he wanted, nodding to the consultant before hearing a soft voice call his name.

"Y-yixing?"

He turned knowing it was AeRin's voice who called him only to be greated by a beautiful girl in a stunning dress that only accented her beauty. Yixing felt offf.

Floored.
Stunned.
Wowed.

AeRin's smile caught his attention immediately, Yixing couldn't help but stare at her.

"Do you like it?"

Yixing chuckled softly. "I love it, but I love the girl in it more. You're beautiful."

She giggled lightly and softly, her smile grew. "I think this is the dress. I feel like a bride in it."

Yixing couldn't help but have his smile grow. "Well then, that's your dress."

And the moment was perfect, nothing could get better. And that's the thing with life. What goes up must come down and what goes down, must come up.

That evening they decided to spend together, lying in bed together, Yixing played with her hair lightly as she slept. Lightly and sleepily he pecked her forehead before falling asleep himself.

Hours passed.
Suddenly a jolt, a sound of his name getting called out and someone shaking him.
"Y-yixing!"
He opened his eyes, the moonlight filtering into the window showed AeRin's face contorted into one of pain, clutching her chest.

Panic struck Yixing. What was happening? This coudln't be it. He spoke up.

"What's wrong... are you okay?"

She shook her head, tears falling. "M-my chest. It hurts. It's hurting. Yixing... I'm scared."

His heart felt a pang of pain and quickly grabs his keys. "We're going to the hospital. Let's go, okay? Don't worry."

His girlfriend nods and quickly grabs her purse, sticking in something before taking off with Yixing. As they rushed into the hospital, the pain was becoming worse and she felt weak overall, leaning onto Yixing for support.

The nurse at the front desk called out help and onto a stretcher AeRin goes again, getting pushed away into a room, Yixing following inside while holding her hand.

opened a bit.

"My bag... please... airplane...pen"

Yixing nodded quickly and grabbed her bag, pulling out the paper airplane that was inside it. He looked at it surprised before handing it to her along with a pen as she smiles softly.

He watched her face as she started to write, tears falling slowly down her face. Yixing reached up to wipe her tears as he held back tears of his own. The tears started to flood down his love's face as she finishes writing and just holds the airplane in her hands. The nurses hook her up to monitor her heart beat as they get ready to try and stop the inevitable.

Yixing looks upon her face to see a blank look on her face, his heart hurting. The click of the door behind him and the rush of hospital personnel came rushing in, a nurse starting to take him away. His eyes widened.

"No! AeRin!"

He couldn't help but let his own tears fall, streaming like rivers down his face. The last thing he saw was her turning slightly and mouthing the words I love you before getting ushered out of the room.

It was a only a few minutes later before her heard the door click open. The beeping of the EKG turned into a monotone sound.

Flatline.

He looked up at the doctor who only shook his head at the young boy before walking over and handed the paper airplane to him.

"She would have wanted you to have this."

Now as Yixing stares out at the view in front of him, the breeze kicking up just a little. The perfect time to fly an airplane was upon him. He wiped his tears before looking down at the airplane, unfolding it slightly reading the message inside.

Yixing,
We promised to write and fly an airplane on the day of our wedding but at this moment I know I'm not going to make it and all I can do now is express my love for you. I would have loved to be your wife, to be in your arms and perhaps start a family of our own. But I want to let you know that because I pass doesn't mean you don't have to live your life alone in sorrow. Please. Live your life for me, for us. I love you with all of my heart and soul and I will never forget you, the friend who taught me how to fly. I'll always be with you. And who knows, perhaps fate will bring us together in another life? Maybe that's silly, but I can hope.

I love you. Be happy.

Aerin.

Yixing felt himself trying not to cry more as he imagined her smile in the wedding dress, smiling at him that day she died.

He pulled out a pen from his pocket and as the tears shed more he wrote a small message on the end of her letter before taking a deep breath, standing up. With that he took a moment to think some final thoughts before lifting up his arm and sending off the airplane into the field below. The breeze picking it up a little more as the boy whispers softly.

"I'll always love you Aerin. Always."

The sound of rustling paper continued as the airplane flew along with the breeze, the new writing in fresh ink becoming slightly visible.

"Love is eternal, so I know that fate will bring us together again AeRin.
We'll be one in another life. I look forward to it.
Yixing."

The wind starts to slow down and the paper airplane lands softly and safely in a bed of flowers in the field below.

The night takes over.

The air is still.

Peace is found.

-The End-
