Foreword

First it was only clattering sounds she heard coming from her bedroom, just vaguely through her bathroom door. The sound of water prickling around her made it so faint that she thought it was just her imagination, or maybe she didn’t put something in its right position that it tilted and fell. She shook her head to get that off her mind, and was just about to get herself up from the tub as she heard a slight noise like someone pulled the bathroom door handle down. The sound wasn’t too vague this time, and she abruptly turned her head to her side, eyes widened but she found nothing. The bathroom door was still safely closed.

Yeonhee sighed, not in relief, because she felt her own breath trembling. She stood up, almost rushed herself to pull on a towel and wrap it around her body, and pulled the plug off the bottom of the tub, letting water flow away. She paused for a second; hand on the door handle, as if hesitating to find what might jump at her from behind the door right after she opened it. But then she opened it, peeked between the slit, and then glided herself to her own bedroom.

She looked around, letting out another sigh when she found that everything was in their places. She grabbed her pajama and put it on haste. But right when she was about to slide down her shirt down her arms, she felt something touching her still minus bra, she never wore it when she going to sleep and that was a little damp after the bath. She froze at that incident; hands declining forward with her shirt still tangled between them, her back was left bare. Her heart started pounding like crazy when she glanced over her shoulder, to find that there was absolutely nothing but empty air behind her. The eerie sensation on her back was gone as quickly as it came. Hesitantly, she started lifting her hands again to finish dressing, but ther time, before the shirt fell down over her waist, that something made another contact with her uncovered back in an even worse detectable touch. It was cold, like a finger touching her after dipped into iced water, made Yeonhee’s every nerve shivered. The touch didn’t just go away ther time, but it had traced halfway across Yeonhee’s back until she turned around and her heart jumped to when she, again, found nothing there. Her eyes franticly shot on every direction, but she found nothing. And then she felt air moving right before her, she could feel some cold sensation brushing her facial skin, but she glared at absolutely nothing.

That’s it, she thought, panicked almost sobbed. She grabbed her cell phone, car keys and apartment keys and dashed her way down to her car. She had no idea where she was driving herself to, just as long it took her away from her own room.

“Oh My…” she whimpered; she hated scary places so much, but never had occurred to her that her apartment could be a place she would be running away from. She was driving like mad; and somehow that brought her to Jaejoong’s place.

She didn’t know why she drove herself here, hardly recalled the turns she made that brought her where she was now, knocking on her friend’s door, in their overseas country from Korea, she’s the only friend that she had, well she had many friends, named like Yunho, Changmin, Boa, Yoobin but it just happen that his apartment is close by.

She looked down and found she was wearing her sandals wrong. Slightly embarrassed, she switched her sandals to their correct sides and looked up exactly as a highlighted blonde head peaked from the slit made between the door and the wall.

“Yeonhee?” Jaejoong’s forehead folded when he caught sight of his friend outside the door. He opened it wide to let Yeonhee slip in. “What are you doing here? I thought you wanted to take a rest after the meeting?” Jaejoong closed the door behind them both and allowed Yeonhee to walk in and practically threw herself tiredly on the couch. The brighter lights in his living room made Jaejoong flinched as he realized how pale Yeonhee’s face was and he’s sure he saw a bit tears leftover in her eyes, sitting limply on his couch. His eyes ran down to Yeonhee’s hands, they were trembling.

“Oh my God, Yeonhee, what happened? You looked as if you have just seen ghost,” said Jaejoong, quickly jumped to sit right next to his co-worker. He brought his hands to Yeonhee’s, rubbing them gently, trying to sooth them from the trembling.

Yeonhee sighed a huge relief this time, feeling slightly enlightened by Jaejoong’s hands. They were warm and caring. But she couldn’t with hold to blush when she turned to face Jaejoong and said,

“Actually I was having a ghost company in my own apartment.”
