27. Change of plans

7 hours from home, next door to heart (in the process of editing)

The guys stirred the moment they heard something knocking on their door. It then opened slowly; they sat in mid motion as Maddy entered.

“Hey,” Jungmin waved, “how was working?”

“Fine thank you,” Maddy smiled as she joined them at the table, “what are you doing?”

“Card game,” Kibum showed her his hand without the others being able to see. She nodded, “ah is it go fish?”

“Umm…” Jungmin and Hyung Jun glanced at each other, “is that where you ask…’Go fish’?”

“Yeah that’s right.”

“No,” that answered the assumptions Maddy wasn’t going to voice, “ah.” She seemed to have something on her mind due to the concentrated expression, “would you guys like to come to church tomorrow?”

“Church?” They turned to each other, “what is church…?”

“You know, a building we go on Sundays we sing and pray,” Kibum said in Korean so they understood. Maddy sat waiting for their reaction.

“Oh right,” the two understood, “umm what time?”

“It starts at ten am,” Maddy explained to them, “if you want I can drive us there.”

“Wait,” Kibum got out of his chair going to the bench. He returned with a pen and paper, “write down where it is. Maybe KyuYang hyung knows where it is,” Maddy wrote it down with neat handwriting and showed it to him.

“Ok I’ll be back, Maddy you can come with me,” Kibum took charge as he and Maddy went to contact KyuYang. Jungmin was baffled; he whistled, “wow Hyung Jun-ee he took your girl.”

“She isn’t my girl,” Hyung Jun gathered the cards and put them back in the case; Jungmin scoffed, “well not until you say something.”

“Didn’t I explain myself…?”

“—No,” Hyung Jun sat back down in his seat while Jungmin rose authoritatively, “you gave an excuse as to why you can’t say anything. You’re out going with us but deep down you’re a coward when it comes to someone you’re attracted to,” Hyung Jun just sat, letting his hyungs words sink in.

“Maybe you’re right,” he got out of his chair, “but I have other things I need to think about.”

“You mean…. Your father?” Hyung Jun nodded, “yes him.”

“Well… Didn’t he give you his phone number?”

“How would you--?”

“—Yah don’t take it wrong!” Jungmin held Hyung Jun’s arms to stop them from latching to his neck, “I didn’t read the letter! Honest to God!”

“Hyung what are you two doing?!” Kibum hurried over with Maddy beside him.

“He read our father’s letter!”

“Of course I showed it to him,” Hyung Jun’s face paled. His arms went down to his sides, “really?”

“What does chin-cha mean?”

“Oh umm that is a way of saying ‘really.’” Jungmin told her in the easiest way for him to do so without needing his English dictionary. Maddy seemed to understand, “ah ok; so about church…?”

“I guess we can come,” Hyung Jun spoke on behalf of the other two, “sounds like fun.”

“That’s good,” Maddy covered as she yawned, “Well… have you three eaten dinner yet?”

“No,” they shook their heads, “we were thinking of eating out tonight, want to join us?”

“As long as it’s not at that bar,” Maddy said grinning wary from the memory, “sure.”

“Ok let’s go then,” they all got their things and went to the lifts. Just as they were about to Hyung Jun’s phone rang.

“Ah excuse me,” Hyung Jun answered, “hello?”

“Hyung Jun-ah, great news. We can debut your album. The claims made were found to be false by the party so now we have the all clear. We can push the date forward.”

“Ah w-when will it be released then?” Hyung Jun was relieved in his heart.

“Next Wednesday.”

“W-wow…That’s really soon hyung,” the lift button lit up to show it had arrived. “I haven’t even got all the songs.”

“Well you haven’t got the title song yet; which is why we arranged for you all to be arriving here lunchtime on Monday.”

“M-Monday?!” Hyung Jun exclaimed, “b-but that’s in…”

“—Two days? Exactly that’s the good thing. It’s so we can get the title song ready and then you will appear on Music Bank.”

“H-hyung,” Hyung Jun sighed, “I-I don’t know if I…”

“Why not? You were there regarding marketing for Piro-piro and now you can come home and get your single out next week like you wanted.” His manager wouldn’t understand, no matter how hard Hyung Jun could try and explain.

“Ok,” Hyung Jun gave a heavy nod, “I understand.”

“Good, see you then,” his manager hung up leaving Hyung Jun heavy hearted.

“What was that about?” Jungmin asked in Korean.

“We’re leaving on Monday.” Jungmin let out a gasp while Kibum was gaping. Maddy glanced at them all anxious.

“We’re leaving then?” Jungmin breathed out to vent his frustration, “aigoo that’s a day earlier than I planned to fly home with you.”

“Manager hyung says,” Hyung Jun told them. Maddy tugged Hyung Jun on the arm, “Hyung Jun…Guys what’s the matter?”

“We’re leaving the day after tomorrow.”

Anniyo! I think that’s how you spell no (?) But another twist is now finally here. If we want any progress with Hyung Jun and Maddy then I guess he (or she) better hurry up.

I'm going to edit this story at some point. Just the grammar and vocab because it's horrible.
