Chapter 5
One of the BoysWake up, guys!” I squinted since I had just woken up by unknown noise. I tried opening my eyes but I wasn’t really a morning person in the first place, so it wasn’t easy.
I suddenly felt someone grabbing me and then shaking me.
“Yah! There’s no time to be sleeping! Get up!” someone yelled at me.
I finally was able to open my eyes. It was Tao who was shaking me. Some of the other guys were also in the room trying to wake up Kris.
“What’s going on?” I asked in my sleepy voice.
“Today is competition day!” Chen informed.
“Huh?” I was confused.
“Aish, we’ll explain later, just get out of bed first!” Kai instructed.
“Okay okay!” I finally got up, brushed my teeth, change into my uniform in the bathroom, and went to the café for breakfast with the others.
“So what’s with the hype?” I asked not to anyone specifically, just hoping that someone would tell me what was going on. All of the students looked either excited or anxious today.
“This school has a couple of competitions a year, and today happens to be one of them.” Xiumin answered me.
“Because of the competition, classes are canceled for today!” Chanyeol cheered.
“Chincha?” I beamed.
“The competition is going to be a battle of the grade levels. 10th years versus 11th years versus 12th years.” Baekhyun added.
“There are three sets to today’s competition. First will be a running marathon, then a tug-of-war, and lastly, the water gun match. But the water gun match can only be played by the grade levels that won any of the previous games. And whoever wins the running marathon will get an automatic pass to play the water gun match, so they don’t have to do the tug-of-war match.” Luhan continued on.
“What?” I was still confused but now interested at the same time.
“Let’s say that 10th years won the running marathon. They don’t have to participate in the tug-of-war and is automatically qualified to play the water gun match. Then in the tug-of-war, only the 11th and 12th years have to play. And whoever loses in the tug-of-war match can’t play the water gun match and automatically gets the punishment. The losing grade level of the water gun match gets the punishment as well. So pretty much only 1/3 of the school can avoid punishment.” Lay explained.
Punishment? “What’s the punishment?”
“The losing year levels have to run twenty laps around the all-girls school nearby, shirtless.” Kris told me while emphasizing the word 'shirtless' as if he was trying to make me feel afraid.
I felt my blood was drained from my body.
Oh god… WHY?
I’m so screwed if the 11th years lose.
What am I going to do if that happens?
“Aiden, are you alright?” Suho looked worried.
“Are you afraid of the punishment?” Sehun questioned me.
“Ani, of course not!” I denied.
“Well you don’t have to worry about losing, because we’ll definitely win.” Kyungsoo assured.
