Imagined

Description

Ryeowook has been blind since birth, imagining the world around him.

Foreword

Yesung sat next to Wook on the sofa, his arm around the younger boy's shoulders as they rested. The television was on, and every so often Wook would ask what was happening on the show, what people were wearing and what they looked like. He listened eagerly to the details that he was given.

Ryeowook had been blind since birth. He found it hard to date people, since they either found it too bothersome or they wanted to baby him and not let him do anything for himself.
Yesung was different. The boy was caring and gentle, and had helped Wook when they were walking along, or went to the cinema, or did everyday tasks.
But he never made him feel like a burden, or a baby. His help was appreciated, and Wook loved him.

He had told Yesung about his previous dates, and about the most memorable one where the person had stayed for only two minutes before saying that it was "too freaky" and leaving. Yesung had hugged him, the warm arms around his body were a wordless promise that he would never leave, that Wook was perfect in his eyes.

"The new woman's beautiful, her hair's shiny and goes to halfway down her back" Yesung had commented, bringing Wook back to the present and the show. That was another thing Ryeowook loved about Yesung. He described things in perfect detail, and Wook felt pained that he would never see the beauty that Yesung saw. Even though he had never seen colours, he would listen in awe to Yesung describe the sunset as it reflected milky pink through the clouds.
It was times like that that made his heart hurt, but he would never stop listening to the vivid descriptions. The gentle husky tones that helped him to imagine the world around him.

Sometimes, whilst sitting together, he would ask Yesung to describe things for him, like the rain on the sea, or the way the shell of a bubble reflected the light. He felt guilty for making Yesung describe everything, but the older boy promised that he didn't mind.
"It makes me feel happy too" he had said, the husky tones filled with love.

But the thing that Yesung was vague to describe, was himself.
"I'm just regular I guess" he had replied when Wook had first asked him. "Black hair, small hands, not too tall. Just average really, I'm nothing special." His voice had been tiny as he had replied.
"I'm sure you're beautiful Yesung" came the soft response.

Now, as they were sitting on the sofa, Wook leaned up and touched Yesung's shoulder before pulling away from the boy so that he was sitting to face him on the sofa.
His voice was small and nervous as he voiced his question.
"Yesung, you always say that other people are beautiful and perfect, but you never say it about yourself. I-I want to show you that you are beautiful.. Yesung, can I touch your face?" He felt his stomach clench as the words left his mouth, previous partners had refused and left him when he had asked to touch them, to 'see' them with his hands.

Yesung took his hands gently. "Of course." His voice had trembled slightly and Wook had pulled his hands away.
"If you're uncomfortable then we don't have to do it."
"No, I want to. I'm just worried that you'll be disappointed.." He had taken Wook's hands and placed them on his cheeks.
"I could never be disappointed." Wook had replied.

He felt overjoyed at the feeling of touching Yesung's face, to be able to 'look' at him.
His fingers traced gently over the cheeks, soft digits moving up to his forehead and feeling the soft hair as he patted it gently. He lightly the ears, feeling for himself how small the features were. The nose and eyes were delicate, everything was perfectly proportioned. The skin was silky smooth to the touch, and he smiled.
"You're beautiful" he whispered, and felt the cheeks heat up under his fingers. "Just as beautiful as I imagined."

Awww speaking as a person with a family member who's blind. This is remarkable that you were able to capture Wookie "seeing" Yesung beautifully. Brava!
