Chapter 1 - Where it all began
What goes around, Comes around"I'm home!" Mina shouted as she entered her mansion house.
There was no reply, which was unusual because Mina was usually welcomed with a hug and a freshly baked cookie that her mother had baked. Her mother usually found herself short of tasks to complete during the day, and was lonely while her dad was at work.
But today, there was nothing.
"Mom?" Mina called out while searching each room looking for her mom. "That's strange..." Mina said while scatching her head. Her mother never usually went places, and even if she did it was just a quick visit to the Grocery Store or to run some errands. She thought back to what her mother had said before she left for school that morning:
"Here is your lunch Minnie, have a good day at school! I love you so, so, so, much my baby girl."
"Bye mom! Love you!"
"She didn't mention that she was going anywhere... She was acting a bit weird though, she isnt normally that touchy... maybe she went for a nap." With that thought in her mind, Mina went upstairs to her mothers room to see if she was asleep; but to Mina's suprise, her mother was nowhere to be found.
Mina searched the whole house thoroughly in attempt to find her mother, and failed. She looked outside the house, in the garage, and even phoned her mothers mobile a few times. There was no answer.
Mina looked at the clock that read 5:30pm.
"Papa should be home from work any minute now, I can ask him where mom is!" Mina was reassured by this thought.
Minutes passed and Mina's father was still not home. Mina went into the kitchen to get a drink and try to calm herself down. Nothing had happened like this before, she thought to herself while she tried to surpress panic.
"Hmm... 5:45. Papa should be home already..." Mina entered the kitchen and gasped at the scene layed out in front of her.
The glass cabinet was smashed, and pieces of scattered glass sprinkled the floor.
The very expensive diamond encrusted chairs were all out of shape and broken. The shelf in the corner had been flipped over and nothing was where it should of been or should have looked, except the table in the far corner of the room. Overwhelmed by the sight; Mina started to backout of the kitchen but abruptly stopped when she noticed a note, slightly crumpled, laying on the table.
Curious, Mina went over trying her hardest to avoid the sharp, shattered glass that lay beneath her feet.
She got to the table and then picked up the note, and read it.
My baby Minnie... If your reading this then we are already gone.
They have been after us for years, ever since you were born.
We've been expecting this for a long time.
I'm sorry I havent wrote in detail... we dont have much time left.
The important thing you need to know is that they
are not through with our family. It's you they are after.
Since you was born they have been after you...
And it's time you know. We are not your real parents.
We were friends with your biological parents when these...
'people' started to chase you.
Your parents gave you to us and told us to flee the country.
After we left they invaded your patents house and your parents got killed.
I am so sorry, we both wanted to tell you but we unexpectedly ran out of time.
It was known that they were going to find us
And we wanted to tell you, but the less you knew- know, the better.
The most important thing is, they are not through with finding you.
You need to get away from here as soon as possible.
In the bottom of the wardrobe in our bedroom, there is a loose floorboard.
Break it from the floor and everything you will ever possibly
need for the future will be there.
Always remember, we love you very, very much, and it hurts us
to leave you like this but we have no choice.
You don't understand how much we hate to do this and
we really do hope to see you in the future when all of this is over.
We will always love as much as your real parents did.
We have to leave now, they are close.
Always remember to keep on moving.
will be ok, Minnie. It is also a good idea to dispose
of this letter so no-one knows the truth.
Good luck.
Fat, salty tears rapidly fell down Mina's face as she sank to the floor.
She couldn't believe everthing she had lived, everything she had been told had been a lie. She wished this was a dream more than she had wished for anything, but after continuously pinching her arm she realised it was not a dream; and she was not going to wake up anytime soon. Besides, the pain was more than real for it to be a dream.
