Bubbles float around the young boy, each bearing a scene from the world above the sea. The moments seen are so beautiful and breathtaking that his hands dart out to caress them. However, no matter how gentle the boy reached out, the bubbles would burst, bringing with its demise the scenes that were so longed for.

The boy held his tail closer to him, in an attempt to comfort himself, but found that it was useless; his tail only reminding him that he will never be human. The young merman wept, his tears solidifying into pearls, dropping onto the sandy floor soundlessly.
