Daesung coughed into his hand once and then again when they didn’t seem to hear. “Youngbae!” he called quickly, his tone still low though it carried well.
Immediately, the older male froze with a chagrined smile crossing his face. “Oops. Looks like we got a bit carried away, Mi,” he winked at the younger, clambering to his feet and grabbing one of the boy’s hands in his. “Sorry,” he ducked his head when he moved closer and caught Daesung’s expression. The little boy lingered close to Youngbae’s leg, peering up at the newcomers with huge, hopeful eyes.
Leeteuk felt his heart melt at seeing him in person and he knelt down to his level at once, smiling gently, the dimple appearing in his cheek. “Hello Zhou Mi,” he waved shyly, making no move to approach the little boy yet. “I’m your umma,” he explained earnestly, holding his hands out partially, a hesitant invitation.
Mi looked up at Youngbae who nodded and gave his hand a gentle tug to get him moving. “It’s alright,” he urged with utter certainty.
Carefully, Mi moved closer and just stared at Leeteuk’s face before he gripped his left fingers with his right hand, staring at those too while he paused. “Umma?” he asked, the word awkward on his tongue.
“Neh,” Leeteuk agreed, patiently waiting for the little boy to move. He refused to shift his eyes though he desperately wanted to see what Siwon was doing too. Still, the young life in front of him enthralled him as it had when first he’d seen the pictures and he was hopelessly lost in the innocent chocolate depths.
A shy smile made its way over Mi’s face and he practically ran the rest of the way into Leeteuk’s arms, hugging him tightly. “Umma,” he said again, a declaration this time that had all four of them grinning from ear to ear.
Rather embarrassingly, Leeteuk couldn’t keep himself from crying silent tears as he picked up Mi and held him close, turning to face Siwon with a look of utter joy. “He called me umma,” he whispered, laughing once and sighing happily. “Do you want to meet your appa?” he asked, craning his head back to get a better look at Mi’s face.
