Chapter 5
Sixteenth Note"Hey, sweetie, wake up. We're here." Lay said as he gently kissed my cheek.
I opened my eyes slowly. "Where are we?"
"Look outside."
Lay just got out of the hospital after a day of confinement. And we were outside of the old building. We're in the place where we first met. And the place where I first loved Lay.
We got out of the car. When we were already inside, he made me sit on the chair in front of the piano and he sat beside me. He started playing again.

I closed my eyes just like I always did when Lay plays his favorite piece.
I listened closely to every note.
"Music is my life. I can never live if I can't play." His words resound in my head. I suddenly remembered everything.
"Music is my life. I can never live if I can't play." It repeats itself.
But with Lay's condition right now, I'm not so sure if he can still play. Nor his life. I'm not sure if he can still be alive for a day.
"Music is my life. I can never live if I can't play."
I grabbed the necklace and touched the sixteenth note pendant.
I'm sure of nothing. Aside from I love him and I don't want to lose him.
I'm willing to be his hands, if ever. To be his music, if it will keep him alive. I'll do anything just to save Lay from death. Even if anything means my life.
My tears uncontrollably escaped my eyes.
"Lay... please don't leave me. Don't do that."
He stopped his playing and turned to me.
"I'll never leave you. Even if I die, I promise you, I'll never do that thing. So please... stop thinking about it." He cleared my eyes of tears. I forced myself to smile, but I know it came out like a weak hopeless crescent.
"Just please... don't." I said as tears dropped and my smile faded.
Lay dragged me to the backyard of the old building. We laid on the grass as we looked at the stars above us.
"Beautiful night, isn't it?" I asked him, looking at the sky.
"You know you're more beautiful than the night." He answered me, looking at my face.
We resumed on looking at the stars after that.
"Lay."
But he didn't respond.
"Lay?"
He didn't say a thing.
"Lay."
Nothing.
I shifted to look at him.
Lay's eyes were closed.
"Lay?"
I shook him a little. But he didn't woke up. Nor did he made a noise or moved. He just laid there motionless.
"Lay."
"Hey! Are you trying to fool me, Lay?!"
But again, I didn't get any answer.
Thoughts filled my mind.
What if Lay will never woke up? Not ever again? What if he'll die?
Lord not now. Please not now. I need him. I don't want to lose him. I need Lay. Please...
Before I could even notice it, I'm already crying.
When I put my hand on Lay's nose, there's no air coming out of it.
"Lay!" I shook him. "Lay. Don't leave me, please. Don't."
"I don't want to lose you. Please open your eyes."
"Lay. Don't die. You promised me you won't leave me. What are you doing? Please. Open your eyes. Wake up, Lay. Open your eyes. Open it, Lay. Please. I love you. And I don't want to lose you. Please don't leave me."
"Don't leave me, Lay... Please don't leave me."
