Han Kyu Ri

I was on the way to Tao Oppa's house. again. But today is different. Today is special. 

Today is his birthday.

Today the truth will arise... if there were any facades and lies.

I will tell him about my so-called 'boyfriend' today in the most subtle way possible.

I rang his doorbell and soon enough, he opened the door.

"Happy Birthday!" I said as I raised the box of cake I was holding.

He suddenly pulled me into a hug.

While I was in his embrace, I hit him playfully..

"YAH! The cake might get ruined."

With that, he released me.

We came into his house and I placed the box at the kitchen counter.

I opened it and pouted.

"YAH! HUANG ZI TAO! LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID!"

The Panda's nose went to it's eyes.

"Aish, you look so cute."

He said as he pinched my cheeks..

"You ruined the Panda..."

I slapped him in the shoulder..

"Don't worry, you got a cuter panda right here.."

He pointed at himself and winked.

I DIED.

I got a bit of icing and put it on his nose.

HAHAHAHHAAHHA.

He looked... 

well, he still doesn't look funny.

He still looks gorgeous.

"You didn't just do that to me... on my birthday.."

He gave me a death stare.

"Want me to do it again?"

I grinned.

"Not if I get you first.."

I ran around as soon as I heard that..

I fell to the ground.

OKAY

I KNOW IM THE BEST KLUTZ EVER..

And he fell too.

On top of me.

"Yah, stand up and get off of me.."

I told him as I looked away.

"What if I don't want to?"

He smirked.

"I'm going to kick you in the crotch.."

I smiled sweetly then widened my eyes at him.

"You can't do that. You love me.."

why can't you just~ ugh

"H-how can you be s-so sure?"

I scoffed.

He  shrugged.

"I don't know. I just... know."

Croooo croooooo. silence.

See, you know.

So why do you keep on hurting me?

"Besides, how can you not love your big brother, sis?"

And that was it.

That was my wake up call.

I slid out between his arms and legs and stood up.

He coughed awkwardly.. and did the same.

"So, how are we going to celebrate your birthday?"

I turned to him with a smile.

"We can just watch some movies in the couch, eat and play video games?"

I nodded.

"Okay, you have me til 4.."

I said as I made my way to the living room..

"Till four? Why?"

He replied with his eyebrows meeting.

"I have a date with Suho later."

His face softened for one second only to return to his strong look on the next.

"A date? with ... Suho? As in, Ji Yoo noona's brother and our friend.. Suho?"

"Yes. Suho."

I agreed as I sat down to open the tv.

"Why?"

This is it. Come on, you can do this, Kyu Ri..

"He's my boyfriend.. We're uhm, together."

I said, not removing my gaze from his flat screen.

"Oh, is that so?"

I looked at him, still standing, then our eyes met.

"Why don't you just go? I'm good for the day. I can just go party at the club. I wouldn't want to keep your boyfriend waiting.."

He smiled as he leaned unto the door frame.

I froze, in awe. See?

This is what I get for keeping my hopes.

Ji Yoo noonaaaaa!!!

Tears were forming in my eyes but I batted my lashes quickly to get rid of them..

"Are you sure? I mean, I can just~"

"I'm sure, Kyu Ri. I'll just go and party. I won't let you off anymore, okay? Go text Suho to pick you up."

And that's what I did. I grabbed my phone and texted Suho.

didn't work. please pick me up at his place.

"I just texted him. Is this really what you want, Tao?"

I asked, of course, it's impossible for him to get that my question has a double meaning.

My phone buzzed.

jinjja? aish. i'll be there in a sec.

"Of course, this is what I want. Looks like boyfriend just replied. I'll be okay. Go and enjoy your date. But first, get over here and give me a birthday hug."

I walked over to him and embraced him. Tight. The tightest hug I could ever give and the longest one we ever had.

A tear streamed down on my face.

WHY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I LOVE YOU MORE THAN A BROTHER?

I wiped it quickly before we broke it off.

Then, we heard a car honk coming from outside.

"That must be Suho.."

He said, looking away.

"Yes, I'm going to go now. Happy Birthday, Tao.."

"Thank you, Kyu Ri. Go. Must not keep him waiting."

He grinned and I turned around.

I dragged my feet to the door.

I looked back only to see him watching tv.

Obviously unaffected.

I sighed and went out.

I found Suho standing there, leaning against is car.

His arms wide open.

"Come on, let's hug it out.."

Then, I ran up to him and let the tears fall.

He embraced me and rubbed my back as a sign of comfort.

"I'm here..."

those words. Suho has always been sweet, he has always been there.

He has always been one of my best friends.

"Can we get inside the car first? he might wonder..."

I nodded with my hands covering my face.

He opened the door for me and helped me in getting in. 

He went to the driver's seat and started the car.

He geared and put his arm around my shoulder.

Asking me to lean against him.

"I'm taking you home. Ji Yoo noona's there. Would it be okay with you?"

"Neh oppa~ It's fine. Thank you. "

I just cried on his shoulder and we kept quiet.

Then, I realized that I've had enough.

I've been crying and crying and crying and I'm... well, I'm tired.

He's never going to love me back..

"Thinking about it.. why don't we go out later? I'll buy you some ice cream and make you forget even just for a little while.."

He said as he opened the door for me.

Finally, I'm home.

Ice cream? Forget?

Not bad. I need that.

"Sure.."

"Let's meet up at the park. 4 okay? Be there, please."

"I will. I'll be there, oppa.."

"I should get going. I'll see you later, okay?"

I gave him a nod and watched him drive off.

I went inside the house and saw noona.

She saw me too and she knew..

she knew that I was never going to be okay..

 

Huang Zi Tao

I found myself sitting on the couch, not having any idea on what I'm watching.

She's gone.

She's off with someone else.

She has a boyfriend.

She's in love.

And not with me.

I groaned.

"See? You kept on waiting for the right time and now, now, you're too late!"

I told myself as I frustratingly ran my fingers through my hair.

I could've just told her awhile ago.

When she was under me.

But I was.. too afraid. So I took it back.

I never told her about what I felt because I didn't want to lose her.

And the funny thing is, I've lost her.

in every way possible.

Damn it. What an awesome birthday!

I regret the things I didn't do.. when I had the chance.

Thinking about it, I've had countless chances.

But I never valued them.

Now, it's too late.

I'm too late.

Then suddenly, I heard a knock on my door.

Could she be...? I wish.

I opened the door only surprised to see Suho.

"Oh, Suho. What are you doing here? I thought you were with.."

Then, he did something I didn't expect.

He punched me..

I looked up at him.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"Are you awake now, Huang Zi Tao? Get up."

I got up, my hands on my jaw.

"Why did you that?"

"You needed a wake-up call.. You love her, don't you?"

I froze.

"What are you talking about? She's your girlfriend.. this guy." I chuckled.

"She isn't. She never was."

He said looking at me.

O.O

What?

"But.."

"You have one last chance, Tao. You've been a real coward.."

A smirk slowly formed my face..

 

"I'm not going to let this one pass. Talk to me..'
