They left Kyuhyun’s workplace and headed to the mall. This time, they walked a few streets, crossed some blocks, and finally after around 20 minutes of walking, they stepped inside a huge mall.
Ryeowook looked around, fascinated. He was in the mall just a couple of times, because he couldn’t afford to buy anything from it. He loved to look at the shining displays of clothes, cute items, flowers and toys. The good, four storey mall, was huge. Shops on every floor circled around, making a huge hole in the center, where Ryeowook was standing at the bottom. Everything was bright, making Ryeowook almost go crazy because he wanted to see and touch everything, even the gold like railings around the stairs, or even the moving staircase.
He ran to the nearest shop display, leaving Kyuhyun behind, and looked at the clothes inside. His eyes shone, mouth little agape.
“Get inside and choose something.” Kyuhyun suddenly said behind him, making Ryeowook wake up from his trance.
“I can? Really?” Ryeowook asked hesitantly.
“Yeah, we came here for this.”
“But I don’t want to be a burden.” Ryeowook looked down, ashamed that Kyuhyun needed to buy him clothes.
“You are not a burden.” Kyuhyun said, making Ryeowook snap his head up, and look at him. “This is not a burden. Burden would be sharing my clothes with you. I hate sharing my clothes with people.” Kyuhyun added and looked away, when Ryeowook looked at him with shinning eyes. The shorter man felt a sudden rush of warmth in his heart. Those words, slightly mean at the end, were still warm, still nice. And all doubts, that Ryeowook had, vanished in thin air. If Kyuhyun didn’t like sharing his clothes and was willing to buy him them, he will do it.
“Ok.” Ryeowook whispered, and turned around, hiding a tiny smile from Kyuhyun’s view.
They went inside and Ryeowook started to search for clothes. He picked some t-shirts, a few pairs of pants and went to change. Kyuhyun. in the meantime, just strolled around.
Time passed as they visited more shops. Bags after bags were added to the other ones. Yet, Ryeowook didn’t forget to be humble. He bought just the things that he needed. He strictly refused to buy things that weren’t needed.
They were going to buy shoes when they passed a toy shop. Ryeowook’s eyes shined, as he glimpsed at the toys inside. He loved plush toys, yet he couldn’t have more than one in his life and when he was thrown out, he left the toy behind.
“Get inside.” Kyuhyun suddenly ordered, when Ryeowook was about to go away. The taller man saw the gleam in the latter’s eyes, when he looked at the toys.
“What?” Ryeowook turned around surprised, but Kyuhyun didn’t say a word, and went inside the toy shop. The shorter man followed him.
The shop was bright. Toys on the shelves were looking at them, as if they could smile. The shop had the feeling of a happy childhood, that Ryeowook always wanted to have but didn’t. The shop glistened with unseen gold and warmth.
Kyuhyun went to one of the shelves and picked a teddy bear.
“You want it?” he asked, showing the plush to Ryeowook, who went and stood next to him.
“I…no…you shouldn’t…” Ryeowook stuttered. Kyuhyun was being too nice to him. This shouldn’t happen. The clothes, for what Kyuhyun paid for, were enough. He shouldn’t buy Ryeowook toys. This wasn’t necessary, yet he couldn’t help but hope to get one.
“What I should do is not your concern. Pick one if you want.” Kyuhyun said, as he picked the other toy, when he realized that Ryeowook didn’t like that one.
“You really...It’s not needed.” Ryeowook said awkwardly. Then his eyes shined, when Kyuhyun picked a giraffe plush.
“Are you sure?” Kyuhyun said, while holding the giraffe toy in his hand. Ryeowook’s eyes fixated on the giraffe in Kyuhyun’s hand, never cutting the stare. Kyuhyun looked at the latter and smirked lightly. “We will get this one.” Kyuhyun added and headed to the cashier.
“What? No. It’s not needed, really.” Ryeowook tried to protest, yet deep inside he wanted the toy. He knew he was an adult now, but he never had a proper childhood. He never had the opportunity to feel like a child. And this small toy would give him maybe the illusion of it.
“I see, I don’t care. I want this one.” Kyuhyun said and bought the toy. They got outside. Ryeowook looked a little sad, because it looked like Kyuhyun bought the toy for himself. He didn’t know what for. And he felt slightly tricked by Kyuhyun.
After that, they went and bought Ryeowook shoes, so he would finally not walk in those old, worn out ones.
They were walking more around the mall, when suddenly their stomachs growled. They looked at each other and Kyuhyun’s lips switched upright.
“Hungry?” He asked and Ryeowook nodded. “Looks like we have everything you need, so how about dinner outside?”
“Yes!” Ryeowook enthusiastically said, then looked down embarrassed. He was hungry for an hour already, but didn’t want to tell Kyuhyun.
“Ok, let’s go then.” Kyuhyun said and headed to the exit.
They walked for just five minutes, when Kyuhyun stopped next to the small restaurant. As they entered, a small bell rang, signaling that ne
