I've seen this in so many fanfictions and it's a good thing to avoid. 

Having too many characters introduced in the first few chapters can be really confusing as you haven't established each characters place in the story first. Even if you do involve character profiles it can still be really confusing and too much that it takes away from what you're trying to achieve with your story. Trying to pair an oc/character with every band member is a bit too much and it's just too much to put in for such a short piece of writing. 

However, if you were to have a story of say 25 chapters or more, or you have really detailed chapters and slowly introduce characters it's a lot less confusing and makes for a much better story. Sure, if you still want to pair your characters with each band member or want a group of rivals or whatever just take your time and make sure to develop your story and your characters more.
