Kiseop tossed clothes out of his closet and released a frustrated groan as he couldn’t find that one jacket that went perfectly for his outfit. It was really frustrating too. Kiseop grabbed a bag that was in his way and pulled on it. But instead of staying in his hand like he thought it would, the bag slipped and fell to the floor.

“Shoots!” Kiseop said as he knelt to the floor to clean up the mess. His hand grabbed the first thing that fell out of the bag and it was a video tape. He paused as he looked at the video and read the label. It was from when he was just a kid. Curious Kiseop the VCR and television; he placed the tape in and began watching it.

The video was taped in a playground and a smile let up on Kiseop’s face. He remembered the day that took place in the video clearly.

“Mom! I’m gonna go play on the slides!” a younger Kiseop shouted to his mother as he ran for the slides. He heard his mother saying okay and that was all he needed. He ran to the top of the slides and was about to go down when he spotted a boy sitting underneath the platform he was standing on. He frowned as he looked at the boy closely. The boy had a hand up to his face and he seemed to be crying. Without thinking Kiseop quickly slid down and ran to where the boy was. “Hey are you okay?” Kiseop asked as he knelt next to the boy.

The boy was relatively smaller than Kiseop and had dark brown hair that was nearly black. And when the boy looked up, he had dark brown eyes framed with long lashes. His eyes were red and puffy and Kiseop frowned even more at the sight. He didn’t like the fact that the other boy had been crying at all.

“Are you okay?” Kiseop asked again.

The boy shook his head.

“What happened?”

The boy didn’t answer.

“Did someone bully you?”

No answer again.

“Are you alone?”

A nod.

Kiseop then had a wide smile. “Then come play with me!” Kiseop said excitedly. He grabbed the boy’s hand and began to drag the boy out from his spot. “We can go on the slides, the swings, anything!”

The boy nodded as he was led to the slides by the other.

“By the way, I’m Kiseop,” Kiseop introduced.

There was a pause and Kiseop thought that the other boy wouldn’t answer him, but he heard the soft voice nonetheless a few moments later.

“…I’m Kevin.”

Kiseop just smiled a bit wider than before as he led Kevin onto the slides. He slid down first and quickly moved so the other could slide down too. The smile was still on his face as he watched Kevin slid down with an identical smile on his face.

“That was fun,” Kevin said with the smile still on his face.

“Let’s have more fun then! We can play knights and fight off dragons to get their hidden treasures.” Kiseop was jumping up and down with excitement.

“Okay!” Kevin said with equal enthusiasm.

The two boys played all day and only stopped when both of their parents had called them that it was time to go home. They both didn’t want to, but knew that they had to. Before they departed, Kiseop spoke up.

“I’ll always be there for you, Kevin,” Kiseop said with a smile. Kiseop received a confuse look from the other. “For when you cry! So don’t cry unless I’m there to cheer you up!”

Kevin smiled and nodded. “Promise?”

“I pinky promise,” Kiseop said as he interlaced his and Kevin’s pinky finger together.

Kiseop smiled as took out the video and placed in another one. This one from when he was still in high school.

Kiseop picked up his phone to answer it when he saw that Kevin was calling him. He was so happy Kevin had called. It felt like it had been forever since he had last spent some time with the other. He was going to reply with a happy hello until he heard the sniffling of the other. At the sound Kiseop’s heart clenched painfully.

“Kevin, are you okay?” Kiseop asked worriedly.

“We—we broke up,” Kevin answered with another sob.

“You mean you and Eli?” Kiseop questioned tentatively.

“Yes. C—can you come over please?”

“Of course, I’ll be there in s few minutes.” Kiseop replied as he got off his bed. He began changing out of his night clothes and into a more suitable outfit to go to Kevin’s.

“Thank you, Kiseop.” Kevin hanged up.

Kiseop quickly got dressed and grabbed his wallet. He knew exactly what would cheer up Kevin. The raven-haired teen quickly walked out of his house with a shout to his mother that he was going to Kevin’s. He then went to the store and bought two tubs of ice cream. With the items in hand, he made it in record time to Kevin’s house. He was let in and he went straight to Kevin’s room after he grabbed two spoons from the kitchen.

Kiseop knocked on the door and slowly opened the door with a smile on his face. “Hey, how are you?” Kiseop asked.

He saw that Kevin was already in his pajamas and a box of Kleenex was right next to him. He was surrounded in the used Kleenex and had red puffy eyes from crying.

Kiseop was going to take a step when one of the tubs he was balancing in his hand decided it was a good time to fall. Kiseop’s reflex kicked in and he made to grab the container before it hit the ground. This in turn caused him to fall to the ground. “Ow…” Kiseop said softly.

That was when Kevin began laughing. The sight of Kiseop on the floor while holding up the tubs of ice cream in the air was too funny to not laugh. When the laughter finally subsided, he asked, “Are you okay?”

“I’ll live,” Kiseop said with a smile on his face. He got off the ground and walked over to Kevin. The raven handed one of the containers to Kevin with a spoon as he sat on the bed. “So do you wanna talk about it?”

“I don’t know,” Kevin answered. He opened his ice cream and began to dig in. “I really honestly thought that Eli was the one. I mean, he said he loved me and I loved him, but he just…” Kevin sighed.

“Hey, you don’t have to talk about him if you don’t want to.” Kiseop opened his own ice cream as well.

“I want to,” Kevin answered stubbornly. “It’s just that I don’t understand why he would do something like cheat.”

“Maybe he didn’t really love you as much.” Kiseop supplied.

“I guess.” Kevin sighed and leaned against Kiseop’s shoulder. “Thanks for listening Kiseop. It helped a bit letting it out.”

“Any time.”

“And that’s why you’re my best friend and I love you for that.”

The corner of Kiseop’s lips lifted and he nodded as well. “Same here. I love you too.” More than you’ll ever know, Kiseop thought.

When it was late, Kiseop had already cleaned up the ice cream containers and threw them away. Kevin was already asleep without even going under the covers. This caused Kiseop to smile fondly as he grabbed a spare blanket that had managed to slip on the floor and covered Kevin with it. Kiseop walked down the stairs and was about to leave the house when Kevin’s mother stopped him.

“Are you going home already?” Kevin’s mother asked.

“Yes Mrs. Woo.”

“It’s late though. You should stay the night.” There was worry in her voice.

“It’s okay. I don’t live that far away. I’ll make it home safely.”

“Okay dear, have a safe trip.”

“I will.” Kiseop left the house.

The next day, Kiseop was awoken by his phone ringing on his bedside table. He pressed the talk button and placed it against his ear.

“Hello,” Kiseop said sleepily.

“Hi Kiseop,” Kevin greeted. “Did I wake you?”

“No, I was just about to get up,” Kiseop answered as he sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

“So I did wake you up.” It was a statement.

“Sort of.”

“Okay, I’ll make this quick then,” Kevin said. “Thank you so much for last night.”

“No problem.”

“Okay, you can go back to sleep now.”

“Night.” Kiseop’s head hit the pillow and he could’ve sworn that Kevin was laughing as he drifted off to sleep.

Kiseop had a smile on his face as he looked at the letter that he had received in the mail. It was his acceptance letter he had gotten for the top college in South Korea for dance. He couldn’t wait to tell Kevin about the letter.

“Kiseop!” a voice called him.

Kiseop faced towards the voice and had an armful of Kevin.

“I can’t believe it! I made it in!” Kevin said happily, a letter in his own hand. “I got accepted into the college!”

“Congratulation,” Kiseop said as he wrapped his arms around Kevin. His heart dropped as he realized that he and Kevin was going to miles away from each other. He wouldn’t be able to see the other every day at all. The smile on his face dropped and Kiseop wished that they could be together a little bit longer.

Kiseop was placing items in the cardboard box—more specifically, it was of things that Kevin loved. Some of the items were a stuff animal that he knew Kevin had kept from when they were kids, his favorite junk food and the last was of a picture of the two of them. It was just a little something to remind Kevin of his home since the other was already off to college and settling in his dorm.

He closed the box and sealed it up. It was ready to be shipped to the other.

A week later, Kiseop logged onto the computer to video chat with Kevin. It was a tradition for them to video chat each other at the end of the week. When he logged on, Kevin was already there.

“Hey Kevin,” Kiseop greeted with a smile.

“Hey to you too,” Kevin greeted back.

“How was your week?”

“It was o—“ Before Kevin could finish answering, his door opened and a male came into the room.

“Delivery for you, Kevin,” the male said. He handed Kevin the package and grabbed his hand. “Now let’s go party! The dorm is throwing one today.”

“W—wait!” But it was pointless as he was dragged from his chair and the box was tossed on the table next to his laptop. He was dragged out of his room.

Kiseop frowned as Kevin was dragged out of his room. He was a little bit upset that the other teen had dragged Kevin out, but he was mostly sad that Kevin had let the other. He had just wanted to spend some time with Kevin. Then something hit him, something that Kevin had said last week about a teen hitting on him. Jealousy flared through him and without thinking he got up and began packing a bag so he could drive towards Kevin collage. He grabbed a couple of days of clothes and he was ready.

He ran out of his dorm and towards his car, intent on going to Kevin’s university.

Meanwhile, Kevin pulled his hand out of the other teen’s grasp.

“Hoon! I was talking to someone,” Kevin said.

“Your boyfriend?” Hoon asked with a wink.

Kevin blushed at that, but quickly shook his head. “H—he’s just a really good friend of mine.”

“Sure he is,” Hoon said with a smile. “Well, I’ll leave you with your friend.” Hoon laughed as he walked away from a gob smacked Kevin.

Kevin closed his mouth and walked back to his room and was about to apologize to Kiseop about Hoon, but stopped when he saw the other had logged off. Kevin frowned and wanted to curse Hoon, but refrained from it. He looked at his desk and saw the box that he had received in the mail and smiled when it was from Kiseop.

He opened it up and a large smile was on his face. He saw all of the gifts that Kiseop had sent, but the one that really caught his eyes was the photo. He remembered the day as clear as day. It was the day he had realized his true feelings for his best friend.

Kevin sighed as he placed the photo back in the box. Maybe he should go to that party Hoon was talking about. He got up and headed out the door.

When Kiseop had finally arrived at Kevin’s university, it was barely past midnight. He ran in and asked someone he passed by about Kevin’s room. When he got the direction, he quickly thanked the teen and continued on his way. He ran the whole way and when he reached the door he wanted, he grabbed the handle and twisted it. The door opened and Kiseop walked in to tell Kevin what he had to say before it was too late, but the other wasn’t in the room.

Kiseop walked into the room with a heavy sigh and slid to the ground by the bed. He couldn’t believe he was doing this at all. What was he thinking showing up at Kevin’s university? He didn’t have a proper reason without telling Kevin about his feelings. He was truly stupid.

At that moment the door opened again and Kiseop looked up to see a smiling face.

The video stopped and Kiseop had a smile on his face. He couldn’t believe what had happened in the past, but he was happy. Just when he was about to get up, arms encircled around his neck.

“What are you watching?” A very familiar voice asked.

“Just some od videos that my mom sent over for me a while ago,” Kiseop answered. Kiseop could feel the person’s face lift up into a smile.

“Well then, are you ready to go?”

“Yeah.”

The arms slipped away from his neck as Kiseop stood up and faced the person who had his arms around him.

“Are you ready to go?” Kiseop asked in return.

“Of course. I was ready for a while.”

Kiseop only smiled as he slipped one of his hands into the other’s and entwined their fingers together.

“I love you, Kevin,” Kiseop said with a loving smile.

“I love you too, Kiseop,” Kevin answered in return. He leaned forward and placed a kiss on Kiseop’s lips. “Shall we get going now?”

“Yes, let’s.”
