Foreword
Chapter 1
He has lived within his dark world. He was rich, fame swallowed him, women desire him, Kwon Ji Yong was the envy of many yet something seems to be incomplete. He’s parents died in an airplane accident during a vacation in Spain leaving the then 7 year old Kwon Ji Yong in his uncle’s care. His uncle was never family man and was always busy with their own multi-national company so he practically gave Ji Yong a lonely and sad childhood. When the other kids played with their parents in amusement parks and happy Sunday strolls in the park Ji Yong spent his childhood in his uncle’s office being trained to be a gentleman. After graduating from business school at 21 he immediately established a name in his late father’s company, impressing international investors and colleagues. He was always in the news due to his accomplishments, high-end personality connections, VIP parties and amazingly good looks. His relationships never last for a month. He only flirted with women until he got bored with them. At work he was a perfectionist and had a cold attitude towards his staff. Thus, he was named G-Dragon, the stunning beast that breathes flame killing those who get in its way.
“What kind of report is this? How should I describe it? Garbage, trash, a useless piece of crap,” The “Dragon” is mad as usual. His cold stare and stinging words left everyone silent.
“Can anybody explain to me why none of you can make such a simple job?” he threw the folders to the floor. One of his managers raised his hand.
“Speak,” he ordered closing his eyes and rubbing his temples.
“Sir, if you could only give us a few more days to finish--“his manager stopped as GD slowly stared at him coldly.
“I’ve given you 5 days and it’s still not enough for you? I hired you because all of you are the best in your field. Now if you can’t do your job then get the hell out of here!” he stood up walking over the pieces of paper scattered on the floor. He stopped before he left the room and turned to his staff again.
“I want a new report on my desk, Friday.”
“But sir that’s 2 days from now!” one of his staff members protested.
“Then make it happen. I don’t care if you don’t sleep or eat anymore as long as you edit and finish that report. Friday.” And with that he left.
GD walked back to his office. A very huge room filled with high-class modern furniture, glass walls surround his office overlooking Seoul, South Korea. He sat on his business chair contemplating. After a few moments he grew tired of thinking and looked outside his office. The sky was clear and pleasant to the eyes. He stared on for a few more minutes being drifted away to the beauty of it. Not that he usually appreciates things easily it was just that it isn’t every day that he gets to look up at the sky.
“Chaerin, stop dreaming and help me out here.” Her older brother Jung Woo said carrying their stuff from out of the truck.
“Yeah,” she answered. She has been staring in space while taking a quick break from carrying their stuff to their new home.
Chaerin has lived in Japan ever since she was young. Due to her father’s business they moved there. They have been living happily until 3 years ago one of her father’s business partners backstabbed him and caused their company to go bankrupt. Her father has then been in debt which led to them selling some their property. Leaving their high class house they had to live with a relative in Japan for the mean time. Chaerin and her brother had to throw away their pride and find regular jobs. Her smooth and soft hands that weren’t used to work have suddenly experienced washing plates, giving out flyers and mopping restaurant floors. A month ago Chaerin and her family suffered a greater loss when their father died of heart attack. He died working at construction site carrying heavy equipment. That was when their mother decided to go back to South Korea and start a new life seeing as living in Japan will only remind her of their father. Hence, Chaerin had to sell the only thing she loved, her piano in order to go to South Korea. It was no use keeping it since she stopped piano training.
“Chaerin, tell your brother to stop for awhile and have some lunch,” her mother said softly, her eyes were still puffy from crying every night.
“I’ll go tell him,” she said placing down a small box and heading outside to call her brother.
“Oppa, let’s take a break and eat,” her brother just finished taking out all their stuff from the truck and paid the driver of the packing company.
“I’ll just put this inside and join you guys in awhile,” he said busily fixing and inspecting their belongings. He then came across a box containing a small broken frame. He took it and wiped it with his shirt. It was a picture of a woman he loved. He could remember how their engagement ended painfully due to his family’s financial status. Her parents couldn’t accept giving their daughter to a family who has a bad reputation and is in debt. They also withdrew their plans on making new investments with their company.
Chaerin knowing this sadly watched as he returned the picture frame back to the box and closed it slowly. “Why do people have to be so unkind?” She thought and looked up at the sky again which has been her source of comfort, its beauty and peace gave her hope that there is still good left in this world.
