Creases Upon a Paper Crane
Description
"One day, I will become your happiness" --Tablo
Each crease is a wish granted but, also a step closer to death.
After a year from meeting her, I finally decided to visit my grandparents. She taught me so much about love, death, and life in general that I realized my mistake in leaving my grandparents, my only kin. I arrived at the graveyard with flowers for their graves, with a heavy heart, I knelt down and laid the flowers on the grave.
“I’m sorry Grandma, Grandpa. I’m sorry for leaving… I’ll grow up to your expectations, I promise.”
I got up and bowed silently, I felt tears threating to spill out of my eyes. I had never felt like this before, my heart that was heavy, was now free of the guilt I once held. I had forgiven my grandparents but, also myself.
I looked beside the grave to spot the name carved on the tombstone, I blinked once, and then twice to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. It was her grave, her name craved on that stone, her body lying in the ground. The girl I’ve been looking for five years.
