During the time of the ancients, people believed that the light was a gift from an unseen land. Warriors vied for that precious light, thus beginning a war so violent, that the world itself was almost entirely destroyed. During this crucial time, one maiden of the purest heart gave up her life to stop the war. With her power, the light was divided into four runes. The existence of these runes were able to preserve the peace until present time.

Until one fateful day, one of the runes disappeared through unknown means, breaking the balance.

Once every ten years, one person from each of the four cities, will be chosen. Their lives will be offered in exchange of another ten years of vitality, to preserve the balance of the world.
