Why Do You Still Breathe?

Description

In the maze without an end,
Why do you still breathe?

Jonghyun liked to think he was normal, for a teenager. He thought he was just like every other 15 year old in Seoul- he hated being told what to do by his parents, even though he still loved them dearly, he was terrible at math, and he acted out; He never thought that there was some part of him that was considered 'weird'. He knew it was...abnormal to have a senior student from another school as his boyfriend, he knew it was abnormal to have deep red marks coating his wrists, and he knew it was abnormal to spend less than an hour at home every week; He just didn't care to think about it.

If he thought about it too much, he'd have to take responsibility for everything; He'd have to tell them why. That was something he couldn't handle.

Jinki liked to take pride in his differences. He was quiet, he was respectful, because he knew if he was just like everyone else - loud, obnoxious, sharing every detail of their lives with anyone who bothered to ask - they would all think he was weird. He liked to keep his relationship with Jonghyun away from his peers in school, but would respectfully decline the invitations from classmates in his favor. He liked to make sure no one knew where he spent his free time, or what his favorite hobbies were; Simple things like that were unimportant to Jinki, yet at the same time, they were things he just didn't want to tell anyone.

He didn't like people to know because he didn't want to have to live up to another expectation; He didn't have to let them in. That was how he liked to keep it.

It typically doesn't surprise people when the pair show up at Vinum every night; They showed up so often that the owner let's them sleep in the lobby above the stage. It was a safe house for the two; They didn't have to do anything, or be anything. The punk-rock venue became their second home, along with a few other students. They sometimes smoked too much, or drank too much, or slept too little (What was sleep anymore, really?)

Even at that, they weren't bad kids; Jinki was second in his senior class, and Jonghyun was  willing to befriend even the wangta in his school. Jonghyun's parents knew he wasn't doing bad when he was out, but the angry red lashed on his wrists that sometimes bled after he showered at home before leaving for school every morning absolutely terrified them. They knew about Jinki, and his 'special place';They thought taking him away would be good for him, they thought a break and some fresh air would help him heal.

They didn't realize how much taking him away from his real home would hurt him and those around him.

Foreword

"Jonghyun!" The boy was running fast, away from the school, an older student watching as he took off. A few students stopped to stare at him, not recognizing the face of the boy, nor the clothing he wore.

"Be careful! And don't-" The boy had slowed, laughing loudly. He turned, looknig at the student.

"I know,I know! Be careful and don't be stupid. You say it everytime! I love you Jinki!" The older boy, left standing in the middle of his schools entrance, chuckled lightheartedly at the youngers words, smiling brightly.

"I'm glad you remember something!" The older shouted back, before turning back towards his school, breathing in heavily.

"Hey, dubu!" He just barely flinched when an underclassmen ran passed, slowing slightly, to grab the boys backpack, running just a few feet away to toss it into the road.

"Why aren't you going with your boyfriend, huh Jinki?" The older student shook his head and smiled, walking over to the road, a spring in his step as his picked up his bag and brushed it off gently.

"He's going back to his school, before he gets caught." The older walked away, watching the younger bully as he slowed to a walk, confused.

It only lasted a moment, until security had come to pull the underclassmen back onto school grounds; Jinki walking back to the building, bright smile still in place.

Chapter 4: This was so amazing that I actually don't know what to say. Jonghyun just seems so messed up, and the way jinki didn't want to put up with it in this chapter was just ... ugh. Taemins first impression wasn't too great though.
