Chapter 1: The plot seems quite good.
But perhaps you could look out for your tenses? Also, you do not have to use the bullet (point form thing). After a direct speech, you do not have to put a dash. Like this:
"That makes sense," I smirked.
(I understand because English is not your native language.) (I thought I could help...?)
