Rumors says that Jonghyun couldn’t have treated Kibum better when they were trainees. Not the kind of delusional things that pairing-shippers says, it’s what I heard from other fans of SME trainees, they say he just worried if he didn’t treat Kim Kibum well enough, whatever Kibum asks for, Jonghyun would try his best to deliver.

They were together almost everyday, they’ve talked about it themselves later on as well, the other fans of SME trainees knew that, everyday, ever so often, those two come to the SM practice rooms together and leave together. That’s why quite a lot of people were wondering: "Ah~ Maybe they’re about to debut", because normally, two people don’t stick together all day long if they were not going to debut together.

The truth is that even as trainees it’s hard to stick to someone. They were always together though, going out or shopping. So fans of SME trainees thought they would soon debut, but they were consistently like that, eventually became famous among fans of the trainees for it.

About a year before SHINee’s debut.. I think it should be then? Roughly a year or a year and a half before their debut, JongKey were simply inseparable. Many fans who used to wait in front of the practice room joked that they would be an OTP after their debut.

I heard this from another fan of the trainees.. she saw JongKey together a lot as well. They shared an umbrella when it rained, just like how it is right now, they get along very well. However Jonghyun really just looks after his friends. But never saw him taking care of other trainees like that, in fact he was sometimes sharp to the other trainees. I wouldn’t go into much details, cuz I’m afraid what I say would be distorted, anyway, as a trainee, Kibum feared a sunbae trainee (in other words the sunbae trainee was a bit inapproachable).. because of that person, Kibum was a bit inconfident.. Jonghyun was extremely sharp to that sunbae trainee, speaking of which, actually that trainee is older than Jonghyun…

Anyways, when they were shopping together, if Kibum was tired and walked slower, Jonghyun would stop and wait for him every time. Since Kibum came to Seoul alone, no one looked after him, he had to rely on the elders more, which is why his fans were so grateful of Jonghyun. Another day when it rained, JongKey came out together from the practice room with other trainees, but they only had two umbrellas. Kibum was about to go with Jonghyun, but another SM sunbae came with an umbrella and called Kibum over.
 

I should clarify this here for a bit, JongKey were really close, but Jonghyun and Kibum had their own little circle respectively. Jonghyun was close to people of roughly the same age, when they go somewhere together they were just like normal friends. Kibum didn’t have a really set circle, he liked to be with sunbaes who were nice to him.

At that time Jonghyun was one of the sunbaes and JongKey were almost inseparable, but there was another hyung that looked after Kibum - the one that came with an umbrella and called Kibum over… Jonghyun was going to walk with his friends in the rain, Kibum ran to that sunbae, noticed Jonghyun who was all prepared to get wet and invited him over, so the three of them shared that umbrella.

Nonetheless, generally speaking, when Kibum was with that sunbae, Jonghyun didn’t really voluntarily hang with them, it’s not that he wasn’t on good terms with that sunbae, when Kibum is around the three of them would chat and hang out, but Jonghyun and the sunbae weren’t exactly close hhh. Plus Jonghyun had his own circle, Kibum wasn’t close to Jonghyun’s friends either, he was just close to Jonghyun.. Ah.. He was really unkind and difficult to be with, I wouldn’t say much about him.. Since Kibum was scrupulous, he would avoid that trainee most of the time. Jonghyun was the type that if he didn’t think much of someone he just had to say something about it (maybe not any more!). Seriously when he saw that guy his expression would change immediately, he didn’t greet that trainee as well. Kibum then would say hi to the trainee timidly… Even if that trainee was standing close to Kibum, Jonghyun would just simply ignore that trainee and drag Kibum away… Mmm…
