Morning
His Voice...You wake up to the sun high in the sky, the light streaming on to your face through the open window. The curtains are lightly billowing in the breeze. You don't move, feeling Woohyun's muscular arms around your waist. His hand lying loosely on your stomach. It's a quiet morning.
Too quiet.
Didn't Woohyun say he snored?
You turn your neck to wake him up, but then hesitate. You face a dreaming Woohyun. His face looking younger with his eyes closed. He definitely looked much younger than you. His skin was a little roughed up. It wasn't as pale as it used to be because of all the sun exposure, but you liked him with some color in his cheeks.
He was breathing deeply, his t-shirt sleeve raised upward to expose more bicep. He was beautiful and you stared at him a little longer. He was so quiet.
"Woohyun," you say softly. At least, you think so. You scrunch your eyebrows in confusion. "Woohyun," you say again.
Nothing.
You didn't hear yourself. Why couldn't you hear yourself? You draw a quick breath. "Woohyun!" you say frantically. "Woohyun!"
Woohyun sleepily opens his eyes. He sees you and immediately smiles. "Good morning," he says.
At his words, you start crying. Woohyun frowns in groggy confusion as you turn away from him. You feel the bed shift as he sits up behind you. You try to stifle the silent sobs. At least, you hoped they were quiet. You couldn't hear anything.
You were deaf again. Your hearing was gone just like before.
Woohyun places a hand on your shoulder and rubs it comfortingly. He's probably asking what's wrong, but you can't tell without reading his lips.
You give another hard sob, and at this, Woohyun gets off the other side of the bed. He rummages around for something and then kneels on the floor so he's somewhat at your head level on the pillow.
"Hey, why don't you sit up?" you read his lips.
You obey and sit in an upright position, your hands in your lap.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Woohyun asks nervously.
You look at him. His eyes are awake and concerned, his hair is a mess, but you don't care. You give a shaky sigh and say, "Woohyun," you pause, not believing that you can't hear your own voice.
"Woohyun, I can't hear. I can't hear anything again."
You see realization in his eyes, but Woohyun's face remains solemn. He doesn't say anything as you stutter, "I, I don't know what happened. I just woke up not being able to hear anything."
He gets up to sit on the bed with you and he holds you in his arms. He holds you until you can breathe regularly again.
Then he gets off the bed and kneels on the ground again.
