Let's stay as kids

A new looking car slows down by the bar, trying to figure out who the slumped person on the curb is.

A blonde head pops out.

"Daehyun?"

Daehyun's head perks up, looking up from his arms.

"Get in."

Daehyun opens up the passenger seat and gets in the car.

Youngjae instantly notes the overwhelming smell of alcohol coming from him.

He looks over at his old friend, taking in how much different he looks.

His chubby cheeks have gone in, and he looks more confident, more poised.

"How have you been?"

"I don't really want to talk about it."

"Okay."

"I would ask you how you're doing, but you look like you're doing well."

Youngjae chuckled awkwardly.

"Yeah, I guess I am. Do you want me to drop you off at your place?"

"Sure."

They stop in front of the slightly shabby apartment complex.

Daehyun blushed, feeling a little self conscious.

"Thanks for the ride."

"No problem."

Daehyun walks up the sidewalk toward his home.

He notices a shy presence behind him, following him on the way up.

"Um... Do you want to come in?"

"Yes- I mean, sure."

Youngjae mentally curses at himself for sounding too eager.

Inside, they both awkwardly sit on the couch.

After a long pause, Youngjae starts to talk.

"You really shouldn't drink."

Then, Daehyun realizes why he hasn't talked to his friend in a while.

He laughs bitterly.

"You really haven't changed."

Both of the boys have grown up. One, Youngjae, is an obedient scholar, every mother's dream. Daehyun, on the other hand, is a mother's nightmare.

He's drinking, partying with his so-called friends, and even dabbling in some drugs.

Youngjae confronts him, because he has noticed that they have been falling apart, and Daehyun is going to get hurt if he continues this way.

"Dae, I think that you should stop hanging out with them."

"Why? I have fun with them."

"You're doing.."

"What? Bad things?"

"Yes."

"Well, I have fun with them. You're the good one, always doing what's right. I'm always a disappointment."

"Dae, that's not true."

"Don't call me Dae. You're still a child, just ing grow up and lose some weight while you're at it, Jae."

Mockingly using his childhood nickname, Daehyun's eyes flash.

He had just attacked Youngjae weak point, and they both know it.

Daehyun feels a little remorseful, but he knows that can easily be wiped away with something from his friends.

With that, Daehyun runs off. Youngjae just stands there, his heart broken and wondering what could have possibly gone wrong.

[Present]

Youngjae's eyes flash.

"I'm just worried about you."

"Don't. Don't get influenced by me or whatever, just leave."

"No."

"Why not? This is my apartment."

"Because."

"Because what?"

Youngjae's tired of Daehyun's insolence, he's tired of how stupid and ignorant he is.

"BECAUSE I LIKE YOU! OKAY?! I HAVE EVER SINCE WE WERE YOUNGER. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW I FELT WHEN YOU LEFT ME FOR YOUR DRUG ADDICT FRIENDS, WHO DIDN'T EVEN STICK AROUND??"

Daehyun sits still in shocked silence.
