It was 2 days till Chistmas and you were out finishing your christmas shopping. You had already spent the past couple of weeks combing through the shops and crossing names off your list but one name stayed on it no matter how hard you looked for a gift to give them. Bang Yongguk. Not that your friend was hard to shop for. A New Era hat or a hip hop cd would be good gifts to get him but you knew that everyone else would get him the same things. You wanted your gift to be special. Something that made him think of you. Not that you were in a relationship together but it was easy to notice your heart flutter whenever he gave you that big gummy smile or laughed at something you said. You pushed your feelings aside though that day he vented his complaints about long rehersals and practices that went long into the night. You sat there quietly being his soundboard as he ranted until he felt better and looked at you with those brown eyes. He chuckled at you "Sorry. You don't want to hear me complain". "Yes I do." you simply said. He looked at you for a moment in confusion before that big smile of his lit up his face. "Thanks. You're a good friend."

Friend. You smiled at the memory before you phone brought you back to reality. Speak of the devil.. You thought as the familiar ringtone played. "Helloooo" you answered in a sing-song voice. "Helloooo" a deep husky voiced answered back before laughing. "What are you doing?" he asked. "Shopping." "Did you buy me a christmas gift yet?" "No actually. You're last on my list. What do you want?" "Don't buy me anything." he said hurriedly. That threw you off slightly. "What do you mean? How can I not buy my friend a gift? That'd be mean." Without missing a beat though, "Promise you won't buy me anything." You exhaled a little frustrated. "No. I am getting you something. What do you..." "No" he interrupted. You could tell by the tone in his voice as it got deeper that he was serious. "Why not?" You asked him. "Meet me at the park in our usual spot. 9:00 Cristmas night." "That's awful late. Is that the reason? You feel guilty about meeting up so late so you don't want a gift?" "That's not it. I.." he started but stopped, "I'm busy until then so it can't be earlier. Can you meet me? Please?" There was an urgency in his voice that made you feel slightly worried. "Yeah. I'll be there." You both said your goodbyes as you hung up the phone. You tried to push the bad feeling you were getting away and headed home.

The next morning as you were eating breakfast you received a message on your phone. You saw it was from Yongguk. "Don't buy me a present! I mean it!!" You scoffed and sent a message back. "I'm not!" You went about your day as usual but Yongguk was being anything but normal. By the time you were back at home and eating dinner he had already sent you 6 more messages throughout the day. Every one of them making sure you didn't buy him anything. Worry was the feeling you had before but now it was quickly becoming irritation. The message tone that just came from your phone wasn't helping. "You can still meet me tomorrow right?" You rolled your eyes but didn't let your feelings get conveyed in the message. "Of course. 9:00. Usual spot." "And don't buy me a present!" "Oh my god!" you yelled out loud.

You absently looked around at the snowy trees at the park as you waited on the bench. You grabbed your phone out of your pocket to check the time. 9:20. Of course you were use to him being late with his long schedules but being out in the cold was different. You sent him a message asking where he was and got a reply back. "I'm almost there! Please just wait a little longer." You sighed and put your phone back in your pocket. A couple of minutes went by before you saw a figure jogging up to you. Sure enough it was Yongguk. "Sorry I'm late. Rehersal went a little longer than usual." It sat down beside you as he caught his breath. You looked over at him and couldn't help but smile. However your smile disappeared as you looked down towards the bench. A small box wrapped in christmas paper was about to fall out of his coat pocket. You grabbed it and quickly stood up. He looked at you in confusion. "What is this?" you asked accusingly as you held up the gift. The color seemed to drain out of his face a little as his hand quickly went to his pocket. "How come you can get me a gift but I wasn't allowed to get you one?" "No wait." he said as he jumped up from the bench and tried to grab the box out of you hand. You quickly backed up though and put your hand behind your back. "You didn't answer my question." you said as you danced around keeping the gift out of his reach. "It's not really for you." he said. "Oh." You stopped and held the box out for him to take. "No I mean... It is for you but..." he hesitated but didn't take it back from you. Now you were definitely annoyed. "Well if you don't want a gift from me," you said as you grabbed his hand and put the box in it, "then I won't take it." You stood there and crossed your arms expecting him to give in. "I do want a gift from you" he said. "You said you didn't want one!" you accused him exasperated. "No. I said I didn't want you to buy me one." he retorted taking a step forward. You cocked your head to the side in confusion. "What do you want?"

He stood there looking at you. You watched as he swallowed and looked at the ground before bringing his eyes back up to you. "I want you" he whispered. You stood there dumbfounded, not quite processing what he just said. "I know this is probably stupid and you don't... I mean... It's just... you're always there. I can talk to you about anything. You always know how to cheer me up. You make me laugh and I love... I love when you laugh... and your smile... and your eyes when you look at me..." he trailed off looking down at the ground. You both stood there. Yongguk kept looking down at the sidewalk and you kept looking at him. "I'm sorry" he hurriedly said as he turned from you and started walking away. Watching him walk off pulled you out of your shock and you ran after him. You grabbed his arm to stop him. He turned to look at you and you could see the question in his eyes. You grabbed his head in both hands and pulled him down into a quick kiss. You went to pull away but he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer. This time he intiated the kiss and you wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him back. When you both finally pulled away, you kept standing there in each other's embrace. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that" he said. You couldn't help but laugh a bit. He pulled away and held out the wrapped box for you. He sensed you hesitation, "Open it please." Sighing, you grabbed and tore off the paper. You opened the box to find two matching couple rings. "A gift for us." he said as a smile crept onto your face. "Best christmas gift ever." you said looking up at him. He put hand on your cheek. "No you are." he said as he leaned in for another kiss.
