It's through the small and simple things...

The Sunset

The cool breeze brushed against Minzy's face as she starred at the sunset. The view was breath taking as the various streaks lite the sky. She couldn't help but grin at the beautiful painting that God had placed before her. He was good to her in so many ways. It was a long way making it to this point of enjoying the blissful silence of the cool air.
As she was soaking up the moment she slightly looked to see a picture of her sweet grandmother. Taking the photo of her smiling grandmother in her hands, she couldn't help but brush her fingers over her grandmother's face. Every brought various memories to her mind of her dear grandmother and one of her favorites was of her laugh.
"I love you," Minzy whispered as she kissed the photo.
Hugging the photo she imaged, the arms of her grandmother around her. Holding her, protecting her, sheilding her from the dark and cruelness that was apart of this world. She couldn't understand how God could have created such a master piece of joy, pain, laughter, and hurt all in one. There were many mysteries that she had yet to understand, one being death.
Everyone, no matter what you were young, old, rich and poor all had to pass through the veil. But Minzy thought she was invincible to this plague. But boy was she wrong, leave it up to the big man to remind her of who was really in charge.
She thought back to when she was drowning in her sorrows as her perfect world fell apart at her grandmother's death. But somehow and some way God pulled her out. As strange as it may sound to others, God saved her through various ways, small and simple ways like the sunset.
With out fail, everyday when Minzy couldn't find the strength to rise, the sun always did. When Minzy wouldn't dare rest her eyes from the fear of not waking again, the sun gracefully disappeared behind the mountain tops. She envied the sun. Oh how she wanted to go back to how things were, how life used to be so easy.
In time Minzy soon found strength in the sun. It's brightness and warmth filled her when she didn't have any within her. It's hard to explain it, but she knew it was the work of God letting her know that it was okay. That he was going to take care of her just for a little while. It wasn't easy, but slowly and surely she accepted it. Minzy came to the conclusion that as long as the sun rose and set she would continue to push forward, if not for herself then for her grandmother.
The room was darkening as the last of the sunlight was fading, she arose to stare out the window getting the last gliimpse of light.
"Thank you for lighting the sky for me today grandma, until tomorrow."
As the light soon turned to darkness Minzy whispered a quiet prayer to God. Words couldn't express the gratitude she was feeling in her heart towards him.
"Please God, let my dear grandmother rest until tomorrow. I need her light to give me strength to move forward tomorrow."
Placing the photo in it's rightful place, Minzy left her safe haven to take on the world once more.

Author's Notes:
I've never written anything spiritual, so it's a nice change. I was listening to Lauryn Hill- Tell Him as I wrote this, ♥ that song! It's different since there's no guy, but I actually liked writing this not involving a guy. Thanks for reading!
