Chapter 9

Love Guard (Repost)

Class had ended, bags had been packed, Junsu had finally finished his Jin rant of the day (though it seemed like at any moment, it could start again with some forgotten tale from Chem class...), and still Wooyoung had not come back. This was...odd. Usually we ate lunch with Junsu and the other bastard (who had not shown himself yet, so maybe he had gotten the message and backed the hell off), but since he wasn’t back yet, Junsu and I would be eating by ourselves. Totally not cool.

“Yes, I remembered to pack Dr. Pepper!” he yelled in triumph as he dug around his backpack. He pulled out a white can. “Well...it’s Diet. But same damn thing.”

“I think it’s adorable that you still pack your lunches,” said a quiet voice.

Both Junsu and I let out audible gasps as we turned away from the table to stare at Sung Jin, who scooted onto the bench that Junsu sat at. He seemed to be speechless as she opened her sandwich container and bit into it. After a bite or two, she coughed. “Don’t look so surprised. I figured, with the way things are, I may as well join you for lunch.” A smile finished that sentence.

Ladies and gentlemen, hell hath frozen over.

Jin blinked at me before turning slowly to Junsu, who quickly hid behind his hands. Like that would solve anything. “Kim Junsu,” she said quietly. “Did you not tell her?”

“Tell me what?”

He vigorously shook his head. “Well, she’s got a lot on her plate right now, and I figured that maybe the news or whatever you call it can wait or something, and then the thing with Woo not coming back from taking that Spanish chick around campus...”

Jin seemed to concentrate solely on her sandwich, but her words cut into the nice atmosphere. “You know, I’m highly disappointed in you, Junsu.” Chomp, chomp. “I would have thought that Min Young would know immediately, since she is your best friend and you do tend to tell her about every breath I take, let alone-”

“THAT’S ENOUGH JIN, HAHAHAHA, YOU SILLY CATION!”...what? Junsu slapped a hand over and shook her playfully while rubbing his cheek against the top of her head. I stared at him in shock. “Min Young doesn’t need to hear about all the details! I mean, we can always tell her anyday! But, um, yeah!” He kept rubbing his cheek against her head. Maybe he thought it was a lamp and he could get three wishes out of the genie that lived inside...her head...I blame Wooyoung for this blankness of mind. Where was Woo?!

“Yah. Kim Junsu.” He howled as she pinched his hand. “Let go of me this instant.” She wiped and set her sandwich back into the container. “I still don’t see why you haven’t told Min Young about our rela-”

“SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, YOU CUTE LITTLE ESKIMO THING, YOU!” he nearly bellowed cheerfully as the hand went back over . If she had been an anime character, that telltalle red frustration mark would have appeared on her forehead. And since when was Jin an Eskimo? She is Asian. Asians are not Eskimos. And don’t Eskimos eat their young? Or something sinister like that?

...I want to see Woo. I felt tears sting the corners of eyes. Agh, I cannot cry over my bodyguard! I am worried. There. Plain and simple. He worried me. I didn’t care anymore beyond that. He looked pleased enough to take care of Miss Latina Assface earlier. I will not worry anymore than I have to. I will not. Nope. Here’s me not worrying anymore than I have to. Yep.

“AISH, JIN! STOP FREAKING PINCHING ME!”

“Then take your hands off of me, you imbecile.”

“WHY DID I EVER AGREE TO GO OUT WITH YOU?!”

“Because...well...I’m not so sure. That one guy in our class said it was because we had ‘chemistry’ together, but I wasn’t too sure if he meant that literally or metaphorically.”

My ears perked up at this new information, but I was still attempting to convince myself that I wasn’t freaking out about Wooyoung. Uh-uh. No way. He’s smart. And fast. And strong. And handsome. And sweet and caring and tough and resilient and young and generous and a ninja and a superhero and a...

...I want Woo. Now. Leaving my bag with the quarreling couple (I will be interrogating Junsu later about all that), I raced across the quad, hoping that some sign or clue would point me in the direction of my sweet and caring bodyguard whom I very much missed a lot, and felt a little scared without him around, and-

A thick cloth pressed against my mouth and nose just as an arm s around my waist and gripped me tight.. “WHAT THE HELL?!” I tried to scream, but whoever was holding the rag had...wait...that smell...I know that...smell...it’s...chlo...ro....

My eyes struggled to open...

Dude, I think she’s getting up.

Then go call the boss, dip.”

My eyes finally fluttered open...only to be greeted with darkness. Had I gone blind?!

I seriously have no idea why he has this for dark places...and why did he want this girl anyway?” I felt his grubby, overly meaty (oh, the implications) hands roughly jab at my shoulder. “He has no-”

“I have no what?”

N-Nothing...sir...” For a guy with such a vulgar manner of speaking, he didn’t have much to back it up with.

“Get out.”

...Where have I heard that voice before?

The sounds of shoes hitting the floor reached my ears; apparently the...cronies felt that this new yet familiar voice was high enough in rank that they listened to him and scrambled away from the room. I wanted to let out a scream and demand to know where I was, but something in the back of my mind told me that keeping quiet would be the best thing to do. But I did try to move...and failed.

I tugged lightly on my wrists. Something cold and hard was fastened to both. Cold, hard...and smooth...and heavy...chains?! Or manacles?! Something like that! Why was I chained up?!

“I see you’ve woken up.” Light suddenly flooded the room, and I squinted my eyes lest I really go blind (well, I wouldn’t actually go blind, but there are more pressing matters here...and being blind would totally ). But before they closed all the way, I had one long, good look at my captor.

“Bastard,” I tried to yell, but it came out as a rasp.

Nichkhun laughed darkly. “Now, now...” He crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame. “Let’s not forget our manners.”

“I...am...tied...up,” I said through clenched teeth. “Forgive me if my mind doesn’t exactly focus on being polite here.” And with that, I finally managed to yell. “WHY THE FUDGE AM I TIED UP?! CHAINED UP?! HUH?!”

He looked over me thoughtfully. “First things first.” He strutted over to me and grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him. “You...are a dirty, filthy for messing around with that friend of yours. Wooyoung, right? Or should I say, your bodyguard.” I gasped a little, and he smirked. “Didn’t think I would know, huh? You take for granted that no one questions the fact that he practically breathes down your throat and is constantly attached to your side. But you see...” His grip tightened. “You had no idea that I was your fiance for the longest time, and of course my family knew who worked for your family. Can’t say I was surprised though.”

His fingertips pressed even harder into my jaw. Bruises would surely form on my face, with the way he held onto it. “Oh, Min Young...” He leaned in. “You’ve no idea the lengths I would go to...just to have you.” He paused briefly. “Well, perhaps you do. You’re currently undergoing my latest attempt to win you over.”

“You freaking psycho,” I spat in his face. “This will not win me over.”

“We’ll see about that.” And his growing smirk was the last thing I saw before he roughly brought his lips down upon mine, though I refused to give into his requests, keeping my mouth sealed shut. “Don’t,” he began stating in between his kisses filled with greed, “make...this...harder than it has to be.”

...And with that, I could feel his teeth burying themselves into the flesh of my neck. I let out a yelp, though apparently that was a mere distraction, for as soon as I opened my mouth, he had taken the opportunity to bring his lips back up to mine, letting his tongue roam freely around my mouth.

...I wanted to cry...I felt so...vulnerable...shamed...degraded...Where was Woo when I needed him? He had always been there for me, where was he now?

I felt the hot tears streaming down my cheeks, though it wasn’t as if I could see anything passed the white flesh of Nichkhun’s forehead and left ear anyway. My vision blurred and my body had seemed to just give up, for I suddenly went numb, all of my saved up energy just channeling its way out of my hands as I just let Nichkhun do as he pleased. No, I did not respond, but I had become...hopeless.

But then...I felt Nichkhun being pulled away from me, and a very eminent smack sound following shortly after. I suddenly felt rejuvenated, at least to a substantial enough extent that I was able to open my eyes and watch the scene unfold in front of me.

Now, with the lights in the room e, I saw my savior, Wooyoung, harshly grabbing the Nichkhun on the floor by the collar. It was easy to tell where Wooyoung had left his mark, for there was almost a clear indention on Nichkhun’s left cheek as well as blood trailing down his lips.

“How. Dare. You.” Wooyoung’s words were threateningly low in tone, and how he had managed to keep himself sounding composed was beyond me, I but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a completely outrageous assumption to say that Wooyoung was definitely not happy.

“Hey, Woo,” Nichkhun said in an almost happy tone as he smirked. “So nice of you to join us-”

He wasn’t able to even complete that simple sentence when another blow was made to Nichkhun’s face. I finally caught a glimpse of Wooyoung’s face and almost felt a stab of fear...I had never seen him looking so...angry. If I knew he would never take a life, I would think him capable of murder, judging from that face alone. Though, it is safe to assume that he could kill Nichkhun for kidnapping and forcing himself upon me...

“There was always something about you that I never liked. Just proves...” He struck the side of my assailant’s face again. “That I’m never wrong when it comes to judging people. There was an evil in you, but I wanted to be wrong. You would be getting her, so of course I wanted to be wrong. I did not want her going into the wrong hands.” He roughly picked him up and threw him against the wall, breaking off a few pieces of plaster from the ceiling.

Nickhun fell to the floor, coughing. “Oh, Wooyoung...” He wiped his mouth, looking more sinister than ever. “You amuse me so. Evil? Me? Come now-”

Another blow to the face. Where was all this strength coming from? I tugged hard at my chains. “Wooyoung,” I whispered, but he didn’t hear me. His attention was focused entirely on the bastard coughing on the dirty floor. Quite suddenly, Nichkhun launched himself at Wooyoung’s legs, knocking him down. The wind was temporarily knocked out of Wooyoung; he clutched his stomach, looking dazed. As I yanked hard on my chains, I froze when Nichkhun crossed the room in several strides and pressed a blade to my throat.

When Wooyoung stood up, his eyes snapped onto the knife and he stiffened. Slowly, his hands rose to shoulder-height. “Easy...”

“She is mine,” Nichkhun snarled. He glared at Wooyoung. “Make no mistake of that.”

“This is wrong, Nichkhun.” His eyes never left the blade, which dug no deeper, but who’s to say this crazy- freak wouldn’t drive it into my throat at any second? “Killing her won’t help you. Don’t you want her alive?”

Nichkhun seemed to have not heard him. “What gives you the idea that anything at all could happen between you two?!” For once...Wooyoung seemed taken aback...and slightly scared. For me or for himself, I did not know, but... “You, a lowly servant in her household!” Spit flew from his mouth. “You think that someone like you actually stands a chance with her? And I’m the delusional one?! Don’t make me laugh!”

“I was not wrong with my first impression, Nichkhun.” He circled the bed to the opposite side; I felt the knife dig in a little deeper, but no blood was drown. I hardly dared to breathe at this point. “How can you even do this to someone like her? You had it made. Do you realize what will happen when we leave this place?” His hands shook. “The police will get involved, investigators...your family’s name will be ruined...and all because of your goddamn hormones.”

Nichkhun blinked at him slowly before grinning. “What can I say? Claiming her excites me more than anything in the world.”

“Bastard!” And suddenly, Wooyoung lost complete control. He dove over the bed, slamming into Nichkhun and threw him hard against the wall, knocking his head back. The knife clattered along the floor. A loud thump told me his action had done its damage; I watched as Nichkhun slumped to the floor, seemingly unconscious. But not a second passed when two of the grimy geezers from earlier barged into the room and threw themselves at Wooyoung.

“No!” I cried, now desperately pulling at my chains. If they hurt him...

Wooyoung easily tossed one back out into the hallway; the bigger, more menacing one grabbed his arm and twisted hard. Not so much as a groan escaped my rescuer’s lips; he merely winced and swiftly turned around to do the same thing to the other crony. He let out a strangled yell; Wooyoung put his foot in the middle of his back and pulled hard. A loud cracking sound rang out, and the goon roared in pain. “Get out,” Wooyoung snarled before kicking him out into the hallway.

“...Woo?”

He turned to me, eyes raking over the bed posts. “Stop pulling,” he breathed. “You’ll bruise yourself.” He stumbled over to me (the ninja, the one who never tripped over his own two feet) and fumbled with the manacle around my right wrist. “Damn, these are tight.” He looked around for a key, but found none. “Hmm...” He tugged helplessly at the chain. He looked around again when his eyes zeroed in on my hair.

Oh, duh. Bobby pins.

He yanked one out (“Ow,” I mumbled, but he ignored me) and began to work on my manacles. “Thank God I found you,” he whispered as he picked the lock.

I stared at him. “Well, you always do. I never doubted you wouldn’t come for me.”

He flashed a smile at me before continuing his work. “That girl I walked off with...I guess she was a diversion so they could snatch you without me around.” He stopped messing with the lock for a second; his face told me he wanted to say more, but decided against it and went back to work.

A tiny bit of movement against the wall beside me caught my attention. Woo never heard him.

My mouth had barely opened in a scream before the blade sunk into the middle of Wooyoung’s back.
