The Golden Bun

Description

You find him endearing but the only thing he’s worried about is being called a baozi.

Foreword

Wa-what was that smell? Very distinct. Very…different. It was exotic, a cultural difference between your own traditional platters.

Oh. Wait. You remember. You and your family had packed up your belongings and moved to China where your very lovely aunt (according to your parents but crazy and evil to you) awaited you three. And as your mother put it, you had to be greatly thankful, and greatly appreciative that she helped the family find an apartment. Yes, the old rundown, papery walls with a stench you just couldn’t get rid of no matter how much air freshener you placed must be something to be grateful for.

Of course, your aunt didn’t obviously have enough money to own the Chinese restaurant that resided underneath it, and make your parents pay rent every month meaning extra money for herself, and be able to buy an apartment for her son and herself.

Right. But your aunt was your mother’s sister. She also gave you a job at her restaurant so any complaint of yours was useless and to her eyes “uncalled for”. The only comfort you had was your father who constantly made dorky faces behind your mother and your crazy aunt.
